I did not know this! So that's it? No Friends any more ... yikes

Nickyknackered · 02/01/2026 12:40

Also The Big Bang Theory!

Clementine12 · 02/01/2026 12:42

It’s constantly on Comedy Cental if you can get that channel?

Marmite27 · 02/01/2026 12:45

Nickyknackered · 02/01/2026 12:40

Also The Big Bang Theory!

Big Bang is apparently moving to Disney, but I couldn’t see it last night when I looked Sad

wonderstuff · 02/01/2026 12:48

My teen informs me it’s going to another service who are setting up streaming to the UK later this year. She bought the box set a few months ago along with a dvd, she thinks the streamers are a scam and analog is the way forward!

WinterSonnet · 02/01/2026 12:48

I have them all on DVD, but it isn't the same. Our DVD player is somewhere in the basement and isn't something I want to make space for.

It is a loss, especially given the amount of cr@p on NF.

Big Bang has been on Disney for a long time as I've been rewatching it with DS (his first time watching). We only had the final episode left to watch and I've just checked now and it's gone! 😭

We were also watching Friends together (my 5476 time, his first). We got to Season 6, episode 9 and sadly that's gone too.

mumofoneAloneandwell · 02/01/2026 17:23

I’m so sad about it 😂

I thought that it wouldn’t happen because they said they’d take it off a few years ago and didn’t but here we are

and bbt as well - I watched it at the time on e4 (who put it on at 5pm to replace them selling off friends iirc!) so have seen it so many times

when modern family goes, I will be truly inconsolable !!

Big bang is on prime atm. I'm gutted about Friends too!

Sanasaaa · 02/01/2026 17:27

It can't be popular enough to keep it on, it's over 30 years old, isn't it?

Zov · 02/01/2026 17:30

I've got all 10 seasons on Blu-Ray, AND all 10 seasons on DVD from about 15 years ago, before all the sanitation and wokery stole many of the funny bits.

It wasn't very good on Netflix anyway, as it's cut to bits, and a shadow of its former self, (so as not to offend the fragile and professionally offended.) 🙄

MadisonAvenue · 02/01/2026 17:30

I read that it’s going to be on HBO Max when it launches here (I think) in March.

Is it cut??? I hadn’t noticed

I watched it on e4 when it was heavily censored so watching on Netflix was a revelation 😂

Ahh okay, thanks
I don’t think I have another streaming service in me tbh but let’s see what else they have

I could be bought with 30 rock 👀👀

Ahh it’s on Amazon prime

thats got to be the worst streaming service that I am tied to due to the delivery aspect 😅

DVDs are digital, not analogue! (VHS tapes were though, but I think it might be harder to get hold of those 😁)

Edited

They can't take Modern Family too...that's the other one were watching together (first time for both of us, it's hilarious!).

Have you watched Life in Pieces (has a feel of Modern Family about it)? I enjoyed that.

Ooh, thanks. Didn't think to check Prime as I rarely find anything I want to watch on there.

It’s popular, it’s to do with who owns the rights and are setting up their own streaming service. Can’t afford to pay for anything else. Already needed to get rid of all but Netflix which is included in my very cheap basic tv/internet package. Friends was a daily thing in the background in our house

I haven’t, I will try if it’s similar!

autistic dd watches Netflix so I am tied to it but honestly, maybe I could cut it down to the basic package for one device with ads

just depends on the ads they show kids

its good for Emily in Paris and the love is blind abroad shows

I wasn't a huge Scrubs fan the first time round so I'm not fussed about that one.

Malcom in the Middle is getting a 4 part series soon (Lifes still unfair) on Disney, I'll give that a watch as I loved the original.

Definitely give Life in Pieces a try. I started watching on a whim and found it really funny.

Superstore is also funny, as is Schitts Creek, (both on Netflix) if you've not watched those yet.

One of my favourites is The Middle (completely different to Malcom in the Middle). It's on ITVX so unfortunately there are adverts but I'd highly recommend it.

Nourishinghandcream · 02/01/2026 17:58

Have never seen Friends but my niece loves it and has the DVD box set so maybe I need to have a look to see what people rave about.🤔
Luckily we are still very much a DVD & CD family (don't stream) so no problem watching or listening the (now) older formats.

Mainstream TV have been editing series & films for decades to suit current audiences so I am not surprised it is done on streaming services.
First came across it on the Vicer Of Dibley. Watched it when first shown and later owned the video, all good and as originally broadcast. Bought the complete DVD box set and early editions were edited (no more Hughie Green reference for instance) with some snippets removed and longer scenes added to others (to fill in the time).
Never felt the same.☹️
