Husband’s away for the weekend and I’m binge watching. Haunting of Hill House.
The floating man with the stick then the hat, Little Luke under the bed. Currently wishing I hadn’t. Seen far, far scarier but that one just gets to me, as does The Others.
What freaks you out?

How on earth did I miss some of those? Seem so obvious, once they’re pointed out!

Am I going mad?

The book is by Shirley Jackson. Isn't it?

Oh god, I’m an idiot. Of course it is.

Sorry 😳

Dinosaurhearmeroar · 24/11/2025 17:59

The ghost girl floating above one of the characters terrified me. As did the kittens. As did the little ghost hand holding hers. Brilliant and chilling!!!!!

Dinosaurhearmeroar · 24/11/2025 18:01

Also to add re Susan Hill ( not the writer but mentioned earlier) - the woman in black is still the scariest book I’ve read. Had to sleep with it in another room!

BlueEyedBogWitch · 24/11/2025 18:12

I loved the clock man.

MrsSkylerWhite · 24/11/2025 18:53

Watching Two Storms atm. The child actors and casting of their adult versions are just brilliant, particularly Shirley.

Also, older dad casting great (took me ages to work out who the younger dad actor was in the first episode! Knew I knew who he was from somewhere but just couldn’t get it!)

That's okay, I was worried I'd gone completely mad there because I love them both!

it probably warrants a rewatch, but I'm not really in the headspace to do it. I do think it's an extraordinary TV series though. I think I spotted quite a few of the ghosts mentioned by a PP. But there is that constant sense of "oh my god, what is lurking and where?"

Let us know what you think when you finish it @MrsSkylerWhite

@MrsSkylerWhite this is a Reddit link but has a lengthy and very interesting (imo!) description from Mike Flanagan about how the ep. Two Storms was filmed.
Worth a read!

I don't really watch series but if you like a creepy film then watch Us. It's brilliantly creepy

Think I’ve seen it: family of clones?

It’s a fantastic series so are the other two connected to it. Bly manor and the fall of the house of usher are fantastic too. Scary but well told stories.

Midnight Mass was really good, too.

Finished! Brilliant. Excellent casting, particularly the child actors. I wonder how they manage to shoot the most frightening scenes without the kids being involved?
Extremely well done.

I think Theo was my favourite character.
