The American vintage financial services theme costumes (bank teller/stockbroker) for Karen and Carlos’s Charleston totally missed the mark. There was a bank vault type graphic on the floor at the start but only noticeable if you were really looking (or rewound). It’s quite hard to find image examples online which makes me wonder if Wardrobe borrowed the idea from some other show, such as DWTS, where presumably the styling would have been more recognisable to a US audience. The pic attached shows what I think they were going for with Karen’s sleeves, Carlos had sock garters commonly worn in banking (under trousers) in the 1920s but I can’t figure how the harness suspender corset belt Karen was wearing fits in.
I also think Makeup are doing Karen dirty with overly dark smoky eye makeup that makes her eyes look a bit beady and sinister at any time when she isn’t smiling to counteract the sinister effect.
I know we are always commenting about the singing but this week I felt the singer was off-key all the way through Amber’s dance, which upset me because Jimmy Somerville sings You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real) so wonderfully 😢
