Yeah, it must have started when they were both still in the “experiment.” I think the whole Steven thing was a smoke screen created by JR as she was terrified of Maeve but quite happy to mess with Nelly’s head.

I was thinking on this and wondered about the retreat. We all wondered why they took Maeve all the way there on her own. Div then weirdly left JR alone, randomly grew a backbone for a night only. Joe then turns up "unexpectedly" the next morning and leaves unexpectedly after she gives him the cold shoulder.

So, did production think he would be arriving earlier?
Did they contrive the convo for Divarni not to be in the room leaving it open to Joe?
Or was it Joe's plan to play nice with Maeve and further explore the JR situation - remember he came back saying he wanted to sort things out with Maeve and she was shown being angry at him which he used as an excuse to re-leave. Maybe she was meant to fawn and welcome him back and then he would add drama by sidelining her for JR? It all feels like the production team knew. Again the editing is so contrived we never see the full picture to the point it is actively confusing at times!

Those scummy men are simply just using her, like an escort agency where they don’t have to pay any money. Joe and Steven are the types to just be on a mission now, to get as much poonani as possible.
As a reasonably attractive woman, although surface level in her case, it’s not exactly an achievement or difficult to find a bloke to sleep with you.

Although I'm not sure that women who think all men are bastards are all like JR (!?) I do think she is getting validation from surface level men because of trauma from her adoption and adoptive dad dying. Anything deeper likely re-opens those wounds and makes her feel vulnerable. She's not had a mum so she has to be better than all the women by showing she can bang their exes. Up to now that has possibly worked well for her but she is what, 28ish, and realising their may be more to life, perhaps. Whether the penny has truly dropped yet, she will hopefully get some therapy after this exposure.

FWIW I know plenty of "decent" men who have ended up being not half as decent as they appear and I certainly wouldn't suggest, ever, that their wives should have known better.

Yes I can see the validation part, part of her signing up for this show is probably her seeking limelight and validation.

I suspect she is world away from getting therapy or (hate to use this phrase now) ‘self reflect’ because of this exposure and the encouragement of TV producers
