In addition to a few days at the AO, (all of our Christmas and birthday presents!) DD and I also have tickets to Kooyong the week before. Sadly just heard that Kyrgios will be there.

I'm torn between saying 'that's brillliant' and 'aww, bad luck'

Grin

But seriously, have a great time.

He’ll be lucky to make it to the end of one match!

Rafa got an award for something or other

It's not a proper award award , without a hat.

ChessieFL · 25/11/2025 21:53

Whatever that award is he doesn’t look very impressed with it. Maybe he is just disappointed they haven’t given him a hat.

JaneJeffer · 25/11/2025 21:55

He’s got his can I go home now face on

Fizzywinegum · 26/11/2025 07:19

Poor Rafa - he would have at least expected a Santa hat at this time of year! Grin

Yes that sounds like a plan re Wimbledon kazza - if Djok appears I think I will declare Pimms o’clock and go and watch someone else

Hope that you persuade your friend to take you Ice

Another comeback from Kyrgios? <yawn> Hopefully you can avoid him Startup - when is his match with Aryna supposed to be? (not that I’ll be watching anyway!)

There's an article on the BBC Sport website about Jannik and Carlos. I haven't read all of it but a stat that blows my mind is that the current points gap between 2nd and 3rd in the rankings is greater than that between 3rd and 1000th!! Shock

That is a crazy stat, isn't it kazza?

Looking at the picture of Rafa, I was thinking about how not long ago we were thinking about the 'changing of the guard' and wondering who would ever fill the gap- and in a hardly any time time at all, Carlos and Jannik have filled the gap and then some.

But they really do need a 'third man'. There are lots of players I love watching- Casper, all the Lorenzos Grin, Daniil- but they are not challenging for the top spots enough.

But we do need Djok to go now.

I think Jack is the man for the job once he’s fit again.

Oh, the Beeb will love a Brit in the new Big 3 Grin.

IceandIndigo · 26/11/2025 10:39

I like Carlos and Jannik but we definitely need more players to start competing with them. It doesn't even need to be a Big 3 situation, I'd settle for a Stan/Dominic Thiem type of player. I have hopes for Jack, and also Fils and Fonseca.

kazzaD66 · 26/11/2025 11:01

Yes definitely need at least one more player, because I think another stat from the BBC article is that when both Jannik and Carlos were in the same tournament this year, one of them won it. Something like that, from memory. So why would anyone else bother to enter when you know both of them will be there Grin

I suppose Roger and Rafa did the same -especially in the slams - for about 5 years.

But I didn't seem to mind as much then, because I wasn't a fan of the 'disrupter' when he turned up.

I did like Delpo though, he really had potential to cause trouble- and I think I would have been happier with him as a '3rd man'. Injuries really did re-rail his careerSad.

Yes I agree that we need a third man - I’d like to see Jack take this on if he’s fully fit (as well as all the Lorenzo’s!) - the gap between Jannik and Carlos and everyone else is crazy

I don’t seem to remember Roger and Rafa playing each other so many times especially in the slams but I might be might be misremembering this

I managed to get Wimbledon tickets - court 1 on the third day - seems like a long way away

kazzaD66 · 27/11/2025 08:27

Well done on the tickets fizzy! Very* *jealous! We haven't been lucky since 2023, so looking like 3 years with nothing Sad

Interestingly (because I do like a stat Grin)- Carlos and Jannik have played each other 16 times. In 4 years.

Roger and Rafa played each other 18 times between 2004 and 2008.

So it's pretty even.

Will be fun to see see who will come out on top between Carlos and Jannik because they seem more evenly matched and there's less of an imbalance, surface preference wise. (Though Jannik is better indoors than Carlos, I think).

I knew that I could rely on you for the stats Raahh Grin

I’ve only got tickets recently since joining LTA advantage kazza - you can enter both ballots so I guess it gives you a bit more of a chance?

You can also choose your date and court with the LTA which is better than being randomly allocated tickets

IceandIndigo · 27/11/2025 09:17

Well done on the tickets Fizzy. The first few days are always great, and on Court 1 there's less risk of getting Djok Smile

Kazza have you ever tried for resale tickets? I had success with that last year and it looks like I'll be trying again next year.

I just love a stat Grin

Well done to everyone with tickets. Figuring out how to avoid Djok maych is obviously a big concern.

With a bit of luck, he will do the decent thing, and announce his retirement in Australia, they will present him with a gold plated Kangaroo with a tennis racquet, and he will vanish.

We can but hope Raahh but* *hasn't he said he wants to go on to the next Olympics Hmm
We are all LTA members at Kazza Towers and from memory, I think that's how we've got tickets the last few times we've gone. I actually think it's better because you can choose the day and court (and seats??) you want. It was helpful when Djok was the defending champion, therefore playing Monday, Wednesday, Friday, so we chose Tuesday and Thursday tickets Grin
Have never tried resale tickets. How do you go about that?

Raahh · 27/11/2025 13:26

The idea of Djok still being around at the next Olympics is just too much to think about.

He's daft to even consider it.

OP posts:
IceandIndigo · 27/11/2025 14:21

Surely he's not going to keep going for 3 more years?! What a horrifying prospect.

Kazza the resale is linked to the main Wimbledon ballot i.e. it's only open to people who entered the ballot and were unsuccessful. Last year I got an email around Feb which had the link to the resale site. After that it's just a matter of monitoring the site and pouncing on any available tickets, which get added daily in the period leading up to and during the tournament. It can be frustrating - expect lots of failed attempts to add tickets to your cart - but you can increase your chances by targeting a less popular day and court.
