From the video clips in rehearsals, I don't get any sense of chemistry between Amber and Nikita at all.

Me neither. Nor with Vicky and Kai either.

Has Katya ever had a decent partner?

She had and won with Joe Mcfadden, some people didn't like him but he seemed decent enough.

She won with Joe McFadden. Nigel harman wasn’t bad either.

Coffeeishot · 01/11/2025 20:42

Oh yes Nigel he broke his foot ,? Which was a shame.

I think Amber and nakitta might love themselves too much to have any chemistry 😀

Voted 2 for Vicky
2 for Harry
1 for Karen.
karens dance was amazing. So was Lewis.
don’t understand the judges and how they are with Ellie. They made it seem like she was going to get really high scores, then she didn’t.

dapsnotplimsolls · 01/11/2025 20:45

Thank you, I googled and watched some clips on youtube - not even sure I watched that series, can't remember him at all!

JJohn did a talk on it that made a shift I think.

I had a couple of bad Halloweens in a row, started thinking about it a bit too hard, and then stopped celebrating it in the usual ways. We did loads of great stuff- food, tag in the dark, games- but not trick or treating and not nastier dressing up with small children.

Trick or Treating wasn’t a thing in my childhood. I’d heard of it from a Glaswegian in my class and from the US but always thought of it as Scots or American (possibly when over with the Scots).

My childhood was costumes, parties with the traditional games. I wasn’t a fan of trick or treating when it became more popular as for a while it was just an excuse for some pretty unpleasant behaviour. Nothing to do with “dark forces” just yobbish behaviour. It seems to have settled back to the more traditional children in groups with an adult, only knocking on doors with the welcome pumpkin around here which I’m fine with although not my thing.

JJohn - not sure what he said about Halloween, my only name recognition of him was as one of the defenders of the Pilavaci scandal. IME celeb style evangelists are like every other group of celebs - a proportion will always take advantage.

I agree. I love watching Nikita when he seems engaged with his partner but this pairing doesn’t really work somehow. Technically great but no spark.

I'd love myself if I was Nikita tbf.

She looked too heavy for johanas to lift there, it looked like he was struggling

I thought that too. She's built like a normal woman not the waifs that are dancers or slebs.
Voted Vicky x2 Alex Kaz Bal

I always like the Halloween one and this didn’t disappoint.

I really enjoyed it. I liked everyone’s performance, really enjoyable. Now that Ross and Thomas have gone, there’s no one I feel should leave.

Lewis was my favourite and I loved that version of “Creep”.

Before tonight's show I rewatched Nikita's Halloween dance with Layton (a tango to Vampire). As a couple they had amazing chemistry. Agree Nikita doesn't have chemistry with Amber.

spoonbillstretford · 01/11/2025 20:51

Ridiculous that La Voix was marked the same as Alex & Amber.

BogRollBOGOF · 01/11/2025 20:31

It's a shame that Amber dances beautifully, but I struggle to believe in it emotionally.
I believed in Lewis' dance tonight.

Yes! I struggled with their rumba? Last week? For a similar reason

Scots guise. We dont trick or treat. But, yes, the tradition came originally from us but was changed quite a bit.

My Scottish childhoods were singing songs, out guising, and apple dooking. The trick idea is specifically American. We also don't do pumpkins but turnips.

Disclaimer: some of this has changed since my childhood!

The Wee Frees don't do Hallowe'en.

Monster Mash night !

That song scared me shitless as a child…no idea why.

Absolutely - that tango looked like they were straight off for a hot date! Johannes did a great two man tango a few years back (can’t remember the celeb) but it really captured the sensuality of the dance with two male parts. I thought Karen and Carlos recaptured some of that feel, with Karen matching some of the smoother controlled male movements requiring a lot of core strength. All three were great dances

I wondered about the Wee Frees. My Glaswegian classmate was an RC so not immune to having a bit of fun...
If its not a stupid question what is Guising if it doesn’t include the trick or treat bit? I thought it was all the same thing 😊

Piggywaspushed · 01/11/2025 21:10

Guising involved doing a little performance and being rewarded with a treat. In my day that was monkey nuts, apples and money! Sometimes toffee apples. Plenty of people invited you in to duck apples etc. It was nice. There was no punishment element.

Yes, but I wonder how hard he's working, genuinely?
