Can’t see another thread for the current series. Who’s watching?

I'm in!

Confused at why they aren't all doing the same portrait!

Choux · 29/10/2025 20:13

There are always three different sitters. I suppose it’s to give the viewers more variety. I wonder if they get allocated their sitters randomly?

I guess. Never seen this before. Just comparing it to Bake Off where they all do the same 😂

Choux · 29/10/2025 20:16

I am not a painter or artistic at all but, given they have submitted a self portrait as part of the audition process I wonder if men have a slight advantage getting a male sitter and vice versa for women? Presumably if you were lucky enough to get a sitter with similar features, hair or colouring to you makes it a bit easier?

Maybe.

They are all approaching it differently which is really interesting to see.

CoucouCat · 29/10/2025 20:29

Im late getting on to the programme - have I missed a lot?!

Choux · 29/10/2025 20:31

The intros of artists and sitters has been done. Obviously the best bit is seeing the different portraits at the end and the judge’s evaluations.

I would have chosen Ruby's too!

Mogloveseggs · 29/10/2025 20:49

Such a beautiful portrait

Choux · 29/10/2025 20:49

Go Ruby! I loved her portrait of Emily. I thought it was the most realistic and lifelike one. I so hope she gets through.

What?
She was absolutely robbed.

CoucouCat · 29/10/2025 20:59

I am so glad Emily chose Ruby’s portrait - it is so beautiful and feminine.

CoucouCat · 29/10/2025 21:01

Awww no I did not like Han’s painting of Emily - I don’t think it really looked like her!

Choux · 29/10/2025 21:01

Yes I thought she deserved to go through but the younger female judge said the likeness to Emily wasn’t as good as it could be. The judges also often choose artists who do paintings with visible streaks of paint in blues or other unskinlike colours rather than lifelike portraits.

But I hope Ruby had a wonderful day and got some good advice and feedback from the judges and other artists. And she will always know that Emily liked her painting enough to choose it to take home.

I don’t like Lauren’s painting either - looks like a bit too GCSE. I think Fiona should have won out of the three they picked

FriendlyLaundryMonster · 29/10/2025 21:59

Hi all, Ruby’s mum here. Thanks so much for supporting her. We’ve just finished watching and feel that it went quite well. Emily Atak was a lovely sitter and on the day she said so many lovely things to Ruby when she selected her painting. It’s all a bit surreal!

Saxendi · 29/10/2025 22:21

I thought Ruby’s portrait was really beautiful, I was disappointed she didn’t get through.Im sure she has a great future ahead of her.
