There's only so much producers can do in terms of setting a narrative of who's the baddie and who isn't. Participants are still the ones who say all the shit stuff and do all the crazy stuff (like accuse someone of waving a broken glass in their faces).

Several of the men this year seem to be saying as little as possible, Leo, Div, Reiss isn't exactly spouting off, even Ash, they seem to be saying nothing about anything perhaps hoping to fly under the radar. Interesting that all four are sleeping with their partners, whereas the extremely vocal Crystal and Leah actually aren't so far. The men seem quite content to have sex with whoever's put in front of them and then work out if they are vaguely compatible from that point out.

Whoever is doing the lighting this year is making everyone look as tatty as possible, Maeve's make-up was so bad in that last episode, muddy as anything and even the lovely Grace looked like a waxwork doll with red lips. Leah may in fact be a skin covered robot as she in no way looks human, her and Rebecca have the tiny eyes, shiny face combo down to a tee. I'd love to see Maeve without the very heavy make-up and ratty hair, she looks like she would be pretty.

I think JR and Steven would be a huge power struggle, but they'd probably both quite enjoy it. Nelly isn't enough of a challenge for Steven and he's become contemptuous of her dependency and inability to see him for who he is. He knows he's a bit of a shit deep down and thinks less of Nelly for begging him to be nice to her.

I have to say I quite enjoyed JR's performance this evening though, she's stunning and attention-seeking and no-one else is remotely interesting.

I feel a bit sorry for Grace, though, as I don't think she's in it for fame at all, and she doesn't have great insight into how she comes across or how that might contribute to a certain dynamic and I think she'll internalise that. Now, Ash is a bit of an unreconstructed rugby type and so it's worse with him than it might be with someone else, and they are clearly not well-matched humour wise which is a fatal flaw. She will take this hard though, when really they just aren't compatible.

Yes, me too. I think she has really invested in Ash and tried to change a lot and let him in. I don't think he has done as much, just waved the book about and checked himself a few times. Him clearly eyeing up April and making that Grace's fault again (I can't get my wife to laugh but I can get April to laugh) shows he just wants to be fawned over and she's not going to do that for his rather lame predictable "jokes".

I hope she gets herself a nice Doctor or someone with a thoughtful side, an intellectual would suit her well I think. I think she does mental health side of maternity so she clearly is more thoughtful and respectful of women and their experience, so she needs someone who understands that.
