No way would another dancer have got 8s if they'd danced exactly like she did tonight though.

I think tonight was different as it was her CC and she was basically just dancing around . It wasnt a dance with any steps or rules but I think normally her marks are fair.

I think that’s the point - her dance was quite child like and stompy but got good scores when there were much better dances that were scored more harshly.

No, because he could actually dance but Ellie is not a good dancer.

But he was not as good as other winners and had he not been blind it's unlikely he would have won. Just to add I voted for him and wanted him to win, but that was largely down to him dancing as well as he did despite being blind.

Some winners( eg Chris Collins) won when in my opinion they shouldn't have, but the public liked them.
I don't remember Chris Mc or other disabled competitors being over marked or the judges going overboard with their positive comments like they do with Ellie.

Yes I typed that but stupid autocorrect changed it to Collins. I couldn't be bothered to edit my post.

Her Dance felt more joyous and entertaining than the others - some of them are really wooden and stiff at this stage.

I think in many respects their comments for Ellie come over as quite patronising. They do tend to speak to her as if she were a child.

All caught up:
Karen was great, but suffered from going first and being undermarked.

Both Vicki and Balvinder upped their game, but will it be enough to save the latter from a dance off?

Amber and Nikita's AT was a bit of an anticlimax. The song of choice didn't help.

Stefan's Charleston was too slow and there was no attempt at swivels. Still, I was impressed that he managed a cartwheel!

Alex's rumba was lovely, but did Shirley really need to do that? It was just so OTT.

Nadiya looked amazing. She may have even saved Chris from a dance off. There weren't many steps in their dance from him.

Love watching Katya dance, so I am pleased she's paired with Lewis. I was watching her most of the time instead of Lewis.

Totally agree with Craig about Harry. Even before the judge's comments, I thought he lacked fluidity and hip action. I didn't want him in the bottom 4 on the leader board though.

Ellie and Vito were joyous. The song on its own is a crowd pleaser, and very fitting for Ellie.

BogRollBOGOF · 19/10/2025 00:34

I'm enjoying Ellie's zest for dancing. It's not the most refined (neither is mine!) but her joy shines through and she entertains me more than some other contestants past and present who are technically better.

BurntBroccoli · 19/10/2025 00:54

Why were there dull black dresses? I honestly couldn’t see a thing! Not all of us have huge telllys.

Feel so sorry for Amber.

WhyCantThingsJustBeEasy · 18/10/2025 20:26

Did Amber and Nikita actually kiss during their dance?

the staring at each other at the end was quite intense.

WhyCantThingsJustBeEasy · 19/10/2025 02:13

@Illjusthavethebreadsticks it was!!

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 19/10/2025 07:52

As the thread OP I would like to say that over the weeks I’ve seen a lot of ableist comments about Ellie including ones that she shouldn’t be participating. I don’t think a lot of people realise how ableist they are being because they don’t think of it like that, so I’m not going to single anyone out but I find it tedious and I’d like it to stop.

PrizedPickledPopcorn · 19/10/2025 07:56

I had the whole did they just… and again?! …. going on with them. Possibly a desperate attempt to bring passion and chemistry in. It was exquisite, but didn’t have the passion the muscly guy rumba had.

And I love how Vito brings out the best in Ellie- the lifts she did were totally appropriate for her.

I appreciated Chris taking his comments well, and his worry about the watershed when his akimbo legs were commented on. I don’t really see how they can build a connection when he trains as Chris and performs as La Voix- particularly as La Voix has diva insensitivity as their USP.

And I was impressed by the musicality in Chris’s lifts- I don’t know how he managed it, but every throw and catch landed on a beat. I thought he improved enormously.

I suppose they’re ‘over marking’ the couples who have improved (but still aren’t very good).

EsmaCannonball · 19/10/2025 08:10

The quickstep is my favourite Strictly dance and Karen did exactly the kind of quickstep I like. Horribly undermarked.

Alex's rumba was the purest most ginormous slice of ham. Aside from that, I thought there was a weird disconnect between the song and anything that was going on on the dancefloor.

Every time George speaks I am being reminded more and more of a young Alan Partridge.

There was a bit in Balvinder's paso where it looked like Julian had just got out of the shower and she was standing in front of him giving his balls a good towel-dry with her skirt.

Still hate Couple's Choice but love Jimmy and love the way Ellie performs with complete freedom and commitment.

I know it was meant to say 'Gene Kelly' but, to me, that outfit they stuck Lewis in was more 'Geoff Boycott.' Did not help the dance.

EsmaCannonball · 19/10/2025 08:13

Vicky Gill has said they have trouble with black outfits as they don't stand out well against the lighting schemes. I thought Balvinder and Amber both suffered from that.

xSideshowAuntSallyXx · 19/10/2025 09:08

I wish Vicky would stop shreiking, her reaction was so over the top last night. It's putting me right off her.

In fact there's been so much shouting and screaming in this series it's really hard to actually enjoy it.

I felt sorry for La Voix last night, they stitched her up with that routine and outfit.

Ellie is just so fun to watch, her enjoyment shines through. And George Clarke comes across as a lovely, unassuming guy, I want him to go far.

I like Chris Robshaw but he is no dancer, he should stick to the rugby pitch. Think it's his time to go sadly.

Buxusmortus · 18/10/2025 21:53

No, because he could actually dance but Ellie is not a good dancer.

Some of Chris' dances were not great but they still got good marks. I didn't really want him to win and don't think he would have done if he were not blind. That's not to say that a lot of his dances were good

Coffeeishot · 19/10/2025 09:20

I also wish Vicki would calm down she doesn't need to be screeching and jumping all over Kai, I wonder if its her nervous energy that makes her so hyper ?

Lampzade · 19/10/2025 09:56

I really loved that rumba .
The rumba is my least favourite dance , but Alex and Johannes were amazing .
Shirley is the rumba queen so if she gives it a ten then it deserves a ten

xsquared · 19/10/2025 10:01

I agree with op on Vicky's shrieking and jumping onto Kai everything she gets at least 7 for her score. She did improve vastly fronlast week though.

Imagine what she's be like if she got 10s!

awaynboilyurheid · 19/10/2025 10:12

I don’t like the rumba it’s my least fav dance, so I didn’t get the Shirley adoration of Alex but I do realise Shirley is the rumba expert so knows what’s she’s talking about so it must be good, (but just looks boring to me) liked the comedy handshake from Anton after too.

Ellie and Vito are just joy in a dance, Vito he is very clever using Ellie’s dance moves to her advantage, will she be good at all the different styles of dance

maybe not , but not everyone suits every kind of dance, she is loving life on strictly this dance was her highlight and it was her brilliant strictly moment, we were cheering her on.
The Coldplay clip of Dave Arch and Claudia was genius!

Ratafia · 19/10/2025 10:53

I agree that Alex's rumba was great, but I don't think Shirley should have been claiming it was the best one ever. There have been some superb rumbas on Strictly over the years, including Kara Tointon, Kelvin Fletcher, Cherie Lunghi, and AJ.

Ratafia · 19/10/2025 10:56

What's with the jive boycott? We've only had three this series, and none at all in the last two shows. I must admit I find samba, salsa and cha cha very samey, so it's been quite tedious having so many of those at the expense of things like jive and American Smooth.
