This started tonight. Sure I had done a thread for it but can’t find one

not sure why on bbc 4 and not one as sure many will miss it

4 part drama. 1&2 this evening and 3&4 next Saturday

1&2 can be found on iPlayer to download if misses it

If you enjoyed the creepy premise of shows like The Replacement (https://www.goodhousekeeping.com/uk/lifestyle/a66119638/best-workplace-dramas/) and The Au Pair (https://www.goodhousekeeping.com/uk/lifestyle/a64032776/the-au-pair-channel-5/), we’ve got something you’re going to enjoy!

Few things are as horrifying as letting someone into your home that you're not quite sure about - and The Intruder is the all-consuming psychological thriller (https://www.goodhousekeeping.com/uk/lifestyle/a64976625/the-trap-netflix/) coming to the BBC which explores that very idea.

A true babysitting nightmare, the French drama revolves around a mother whose new au pair initially seems angelic - but things quickly start to unravel.

The award-winning four-part drama follows Paula (Mélanie Doutey), a working mum who hires nanny Tess (Lucie Fagedet) to help out with her children ahead of returning to work.

At first, she seems perfect - but she starts to feel somewhat apprehensive when a series of strange domestic events occur.

And soon, Paula starts to question Tess’s true motives for entering her family home…

This four-part psychological thriller follows Paula (Mélanie Doutey), a 40-year-old mum of three who’s about to reach the end of her maternity leave, but doesn’t quite feel ready to return to work.

To make life easier for herself, she decides to hire au pair Tess (Lucie Fagedet), who - at first - seems perfect.

But Paula soon begins to feel a looming sense of unease as a string of strange domestic accidents make her look like a bad mother.

To make matters worse, no one believes Paula when she tells them she thinks her babysitter intends to harm her children.

The BBC’s official synopsis continues: “Maybe postpartum blues have made her paranoid? Or does Paula herself have something to hide? As for Tess, she didn’t enter their home by chance…”

The cast of The Intruder includes:
• Mélanie Doutey as Paula
• Lucie Fagedet as Tess
• Éric Caravaca as Jérôme

•	Hélie-Rose Dalmay as Camille
•	Zaccharie Heintz as Basile
•	Lola Naymark as Adèle Bouazid
•	Alain Doutey as Alain
•	Mariama Gueye as Elsa
•	Louise Massin as Daphné
•	Anne Loiret as Psy Karsenti
•	Léonie Simaga as Aline
•	Clément Sibony as Nicolas
•	Béatrice Facquer as Christelle
•	Ilona Bachelier as Ludivine

Sorry to be a wet blanket Blondes, but we gave up after the first episode. Highly annoying because we’ve been so eager for the BBC4 Saturday night Euro/Scandi drama slot to get going again after the summer!

Just found it very formulaic and we could guess exactly what was going to happen. There's a whopper of a bad review in the Guardian too. But if it’s any consolation, the house they lived in was amazing! Possibly worth watching just for the house-porn?!

Interested to hear what others think, though.

There was a line in the second episode that made me laugh but I won't spoil it if you've not watched it. I wasn't sure where we're up to

PineConesAndBerries · 13/10/2025 18:09

I'm also watching Wayward which I'm enjoying. I normally watch one at a time, but accidentally started watching this

It’s been shown on tv so fair game to discuss it.

I will avoid thread till I’ve seen e2

This.

So clichéd, life's too short!

It was an easy watch and I enjoyed it but it really was so ridiculous at times that I wasn't sure if it was a thriller or a comedy!

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/10/2025 15:46

Well yes but that’s half the fun 😂

OP posts:
tennissquare · 23/10/2025 20:08

I quite enjoyed it, preferred Sambre last year.

lazymum99 · 26/10/2025 19:19

Sambre was in a different class altogether and I think based on a true story/crime.
I enjoyed the Intruder tho. I thought it was better than the channel 5 dramas

Blondeshavemorefun · 31/10/2025 13:11

Didn’t seem to end properly

who was her dad if it wasn’t Jerome

did her mum lie or did she bend the truth
