Tired of the BBC wokery?

Sparks654 · 28/09/2025 09:37

Wondering who else is tired of the BBC wokery? It seems to get worse and worse to the point that I stopped watching. Seems like everything is about messaging. Take Sewing Bee. That started off with quite a simple formula and while they always had their educational segment it was kept to a minimum and the outfits were basically for men or women. There wasn't the gender stuff there is now. Also, I am always seeing drag queen shows trailed. There are so many issues with the way that drag queens represent women, and yet this is not censored as being not p.c? Or offensive to women?
Where are the trans identifying females I wonder? Not good telly to have women dressing as men?

Then there's Strictly. Used to be quite a family show, a bit of fun and disconnect enjoying some glitz and dance with - albeit not mega famous - celebs. Now it's all about messaging and transformation. Please - do we need a liberal progressive class on a Saturday night? Can't we enjoy a man and a woman dancing anymore without lectures or wokery and long "beautifully said" expressions of personal growth?! I do like to watch dance, but cannot stand all the rest of it.

It's such a shame because there are one or two good programs still - like the Attenborough ones for example.

I disagree with your last sentence as Attenborough programmes are now chock full of environmental doom messaging and it puts me off watching.

How are you "always seeing drag queen shows trailed" if you "stopped watching"?

defrazzled · 28/09/2025 17:43

The constant use of trans-women as commenters on items and referring to trans identified rapists and violent criminals as she/her means I cannot trust a bloody word they say about anything.
They lie and lie and lie.
The reaction to this incident shows that the vast majority of the population are sick and tired of it. https://x.com/journalismseen/status/1936513585082970489?s=46

Couldn't agree more. I stopped watching Attenborough when he got fixated on the doom and gloom. Prior to that I would have chosen him for a fantasy dinner guest.

@SwedishEdith what a tedious reply. Presumably the OP saw this stuff then switched off. Maybe tried again another couple of times and saw more of the same so switched off again. As you already know.

Mumsnet so full of these sorts of replies "er, how do you know you don't want to be poor if you've never been rich, it's not all fun and games". Wish you'd all just bore off tbh.

It is true that the BBC constantly trails drag shows and posts stories about drag acts. No other entertainment field gets this attention does it? More than half the population: https://x.com/ripx4nutmeg/status/1961751108923093010

BBC News' Drag queen section has posted more stories in August than BBC News' Women section

They’re still making the Cormoran Strike adaptations though, so presumably that’s acceptable on your scale of woke?

Ha ha. Challenge is woke as well, I suppose. Au revoir, Nigel.

How many drag queen shows do they have other than drag race (and overseas variations of it)?

@SwedishEdith since you mentioned it

Three of those are in relation to the same person (The Vivienne) as the BBC was promoting a documentary being released in August. Two of those are the exact same story but in different formats (article and video news report). One of the remaining two is a negative news story about a drag queen event.

There's a steady stream of stories about women (note the number of stories from July as well as August). Before August, the previous story about drag queens was April.

Eh? What's that got to do with anything. Strike isn't the opposite of woke.

Yes, that is true. Although in that particular case the BBC had been editing the truth about the environment for years, never mentioning the impact of biodiversity loss etc. But I know what you mean as regards enjoyment. It's definitely a hard watch sometimes now with the Attenborough stuff.

JK Rowling, anti trans, OP mentions specifically they feel too many “trans-identified” people on BBC.

sighs

She isn't anti trans, she's pro women/girls. Just keep men out of women's single sex spaces, okay?

OP, I've also stopped watching Attenborough due to his doom and gloom too. Brilliant photography though.

RafaistheKingofClay · 28/09/2025 19:27

The Attenborough stuff should be hard hitting. It’s part of the BBC’s science and nature provision not their light entertainment stuff. Although it does have a much wider reach.

She’s pro women’s rights.

if women’s rights are “anti trans”
then trans demands must be anti women.

You're right, she really is horrendous, isn't she? You might not know all the other incredibly horrible things this evil witch has done, so I'll just list a few of them so you can quote them when you need evidence of how vicious and hard right and determined to destroy her legacy she became once she made money and bought a castle:
a) Set up Lumos and has donated £63m so far to it. This obviously reprehensible charity's purpose is to press for improved care systems, with a goal of ending the institutionalisation of children and uniting children with loving families. Gross.
b) Set up Volant, a charitable trust that gives grants to charities for work supporting vulnerable children; women, children, and families in poverty; victims of sexual abuse, rape, domestic violence and those working in the sex industry; care for young mothers and those affected by postnatal depression, isolated and lone parents; community support for black and minority ethnic women and asylum seekers; support services for women prisoners and their families. OMG! So much work for hateful women 🙄
c) Has donated over £15m to help set up the Anne Rowling Regenerative Neurology Clinic in hopes of helping researchers find treatments and help for those with neurodegenerative conditions. God. Selfish.
d) Obviously feeling she hadn't done enough yucky things, she decided to donate all the royalties from Cuckoo's Calling, the first Cormoran Strike novel (cracking read if you can get past the fact that it's written by the world's yuckiest author!) to The Soldiers Charity, an organisation providing a wide range of supportive services to veterans and their families. COW.
e) Then, to rub everyone's faces in her EVIL, this heinous witch from hell had the audacity to set up Beira's Place so that women who had been raped and traumatised by men could receive the help they needed at a guaranteed single sex facility.
I know there's more stuff, but I can't face typing out any more details of her incredible work to make lives better plainly evil acts all designed to hurt trans people. Glad I made the effort to keep swallowing back the sick as I typed though because it's good to reaffirm her as the actual queen of anti-woke evil by remembering the work she's done for vulnerable women and children, people in poverty, disabled veterans, MS sufferers, and rape victims.
(Wait...something doesn't seem right here? Do I mean she's actually an astonishingly decent person who, more than almost any other public figure I can think of, deserves to be heard out in good faith when she speaks about concerns over women's rights? Surely not...)

mamagogo1 · 28/09/2025 21:21

The problem is that if your ears are tuned into a certain thing you will hear it whenever it comes up, I’ll give a different example, 4 years ago I don’t remember seeing anything about a certain country, then my dd met someone from that country and it seems to be everywhere in the news, foreign language tv shows, celebrities … of course they always had the same coverage I just wasn’t listening before. Trans people always existed but you are just focusing on it. The trailed documentary was about a guy who died, sad for his family and fans of his drag alter ego
