Rylan terminated contract with ITV off. The back of his recent comments on immigration.

I’ve just read it through social media so it might not definitely be true. If it is I’m really shocked. I need to go read what he said again because when I first read the story it didn’t sound particularly shocking. I do remember all his co-presenters looking like they were watching a public hanging though, so I guess they knew what was coming around the corner for him.

Commenting on immigration these days is a big no. I saw some of what he was saying and my take on it was that Britain depends on legal immigration but we're being told that illegal immigrants are being housed in nice hotels, being given expensive phones and ipads and generally living the life of Riley. I think what he was getting at was someone (media) is shit stirring and causing the outcry.

I think it's not true. There is nothing official. Do you have a link?

If he wanted to voice a stronger opinion then he should have asked to be on a more serious programme like Question Time. He would have got flak but This Morning isn’t the place for strong political opinion on either side.
I don’t watch it btw because I’m at work so if it’s changed since I last watched it then apologies but it’s supposed to be a light and pretty fluffy programme with a politician as a guest when they want easy questions to answer.

I think that TV stations need to consider the individual opinion vs tv station opinion policy more carefully. Gary Lineker has been “in trouble” at the BBC for his opinions too but kept on flouting the policy. He is obviously an individual with his own thoughts and I don’t think that he needs to agree with everything they do to work there.

I highly doubt Rylan is going to miss a slot on Breakfast Borearse TBH. Certainly not as much as they will miss him.

What he said was risky in the current cancel climate, but I think it reasonably echoed many people’s views at the moment.

Perhaps if our Government is worried about the myths the allege he’s taking about, they should do a better job of getting this problem under control.
