Starting this a bit early as Spoilers for the couplings could come out at any time.

Thread will normally be the location for the weekly spoiler but will be spoilers for who is paired with who before the 20th if we can get them.

Why people voted for Bal just because she's had a hard time baffles me. I thought it was a dance competition.

Anyway I've got the right hump now 🤣

I don't feel connected to Amber at all, it's like watching a robot. Maybe because it is her job? It was a mistake of the show in bringing her in, because she's going to make it to the final but people just don't want to vote for her because they know it's not a level playing field. And this puts people off engaging with it. It's a bit ridiculous frankly. Lewis, while experienced in dancing, doesn't actually do it now as his day job - he's an actor in a soap (apparently, I'd never heard of him!) Fact is, the viewers don't want Amber in the final but is impossible to get rid of her so they'll stop watching.

I hope Amber wins now. It will probably be Bal though because of all the pity voting.

I want Karen to win but the show is going to be boring without Lewis in it. It's Series 20 being Hamza vs Helen again because the public were never going for Fleur and Molly. We know already that it's down to George vs Karen; Amber and Balvinder might as well not be there.

The Mambo from West Side Story is an incredible dance but the music is not a salsa. The choreographer is to blame for giving Lewis too many tricks to get through and swamping both him and the salsa. He was constantly trying to get to the next bit instead of dancing with the kind of freedom the salsa demands.

The leaderboard was also stupid, with Lewis on his worst day still being better than Balvinder and George.

This series has been the worst in years. There's only one person left I'm remotely interested in watching.

I think the problem Lewis had was that he was so good that people thought he'd automatically go through, even in a dance off, so didn't always vote for him. The final will be very dull without Lewis and Katya's insane choreography. Their show dance would have been epic.

I really liked Bal's dance last night but all the whooping and the hug from Motsi was just manipulative. I've heard from friends that have been to the live show that there are placards held aloft telling the audience to cheer, stand up etc which I know is not news to any of us fans but I think this year the whole series has been quite manipulative over previous years with the judges ridiculous scoring and obvious bias towards certain celebs.

As lovely as Hamza is that was the worst year in my opinion. But it's a popularity contest at the end of the day 🤷🏻‍♀️

People get very annoyed with me on the main thread when I say the dance off is a flaw in the format and they should go back to the years when the show didn't have one. Their argument is it's a dance show; mine is it's an entertainment.

It gets very boring when the dance off keeps celebs the public has no interest in watching in the competition at the expense of more interesting ones who have a bad week. In terms of ratings it makes no sense to keep in the celebs people least want to watch and who will make the rest of the competition more predictable because they have no chance of winning it.

Ashley Roberts definitely, maybe Alexandra Burke.

Yes, it was messy and chaotic and not a salsa. That’s not Lewis’s fault, and it feels unfair that he’s gone in that respect, but it’s time for the ringers to go so that the final has the right contestants.

Why are people surprised George is still in? Strictly isn't a dance contest, it's a popularity contest, like all reality shows. DD16 is a massive George fan and she says he's got millions backing him online. She's not even watching Strictly but is still voting for him every week!

I absolutely loved Hamza. Voted for him. Best salsa ever on Strictly. But in terms of suspense that was a two person final. The producers go to the effort of avoiding two person finals through withdrawals but give us de facto ones by putting box office poison celebs through repeat dance offs.

I have to admit, when Motsi got up to hug Balvinder last night the words ' Oh, Jesus Christ, fuck off!' did spontaneously come out of my mouth. I hate the Couple's Choice-ification of Strictly with all its weeping and begging and every fucker having to be some kind of inspiration all the time. Remember when the show used to be fun?

That just spoils it though really when it is meant to be a dance contest...

Are you suggesting that it should be just the bottom couple in the voting out each week? Amber would have been long gone based on that...

If a ringer had to go I wanted it to be Amber because she's got no star quality. Eternal chorus line and no Judy Garland.

I don't get the Lewis love, I get he's good but I can't remember any of his dances. I will remember Amber's last night, that was fab, I didn't vote for her though. Karen's dances stick in my memory and Alex's did and a couple of Bal's, so I vote for them. With Amber's dancing you can't tell who's the professional and who's the celeb so what's the point of it.

Im disappointed with the result but I understand why she was saved as her dance was much better.

I dont really have any strong feelings now about who should win.

I feel that Karen is just too samey - when are we going to see a more gentle and calm side to her? I don’t feel like she’s demonstrated much range.

The leaderboard points still count but, yes, they did that for six series and the show still worked. The celebs the public are least interested in watching get removed and journey contestants have more of a fighting chance of making it through. It was much less predictable, too. You didn't get the situation where celebs would reach the latter stages of the final without a cat in hell's chance of winning.

Real shame for Lewis, I mean he clearly was a ringer but great to watch
I love that music but not everyone will have done- the dance was over ambitious with far too much going on. Not really a salsa either. So I blame whoever picked that.

George is the only one left who is a proper novice

i’m fairly sure Bal will have danced in drama school

George had done phenomenally well for a total beginner

Whilst I’m sure this is true, and one of the reasons he’s heading for the final, it’s not the only reason. I had no idea who he was, but I’m voting for him because he’s genuinely working hard, putting in the effort and actually learning to dance*, which to me is the whole point of Strictly.

*same with Balvinder, and Karen.

I didn't vote for her because she has had a hard time. I voted for her because I liked her dance and preferred it to Karen's and George's.

I really hope Karen wins now
