Series 1 was a while ago and I never finished watching it as I couldn't get into it. Too close to real world events.

But I think others liked it.

Loved Thierry Godard in Spiral (Engrenages) and The Line (Un Village Français).

Not sure I want to watch Dark Hearts for the same reason as you, OP. Might try it and see how I get on.

It looks like series 1 is still available on iPlayer.

And have to say that at the time I started watching partly because ofThierry Godard.

(I hated the last series of Spiral. It was all so wrong.)

Dark Hearts

They know this mission could be their last. A close-knit, elite military unit take on a high-risk extraction operation in the heat of war-torn Iraq. Explosive, tough action drama.

See I loved the final series of Spiral. It felt like they were just letting loose. All those glorious shots of central Paris. Fuck it, they'd earned a bit of swagger.

Hated what I saw of Dark Hearts though. The French all brave and heroic, all other allies corrupt, all the brownfaces untrustworthy and murderous, just, nah. Hope you enjoy it but I won't be watching. It feels like propaganda to me. And I say this as a long time Thierry Goddard fan who was Facebook friends with him, back when you could be, when I started watching Spiral (but my account eventually got hacked, sad times).

@IwantToRetire I hated the last series of Spiral. It was all so wrong.

Not my favourite either. And not the best use of Thierry Godard, imo.

It was anything but swagger - IMO! It became trite, and silly and clearly - and made worse by Godard and Proust apparently hating each other and it seeping into the scenes which were just creepy.

But the ultimate crime was suddenly turning Josephine into a meek little woman finishing up with that vile man.

Yuk

The middle series was when it was as much about Paris as the characters.

It is an absolutely superb series. Thierry Goddard is amazing, as always.
I very rarely binge watch anything, but I must admit that I watched all 6 episodes, in one go.
I reckon it was as good as the first series and I have a theory that the 3rd series will involve finding the courageous Soraya?
What do you reckon?

What a great series, gripping!! Hope there will be Series 3.
