Apple TV - any advise from how to get round a clich in their sub system

I am sure and hoping there is someone on Telly Addicts with good advice.

I have subscribed to Apple TV on and off for some time now, depending on sub offers etc.

Last month was the end of a 3 month offer, so being me Ieft it to the last day to unsubscribe, and of course there was an error on the system, so couldn't cancel in time. And couldn't see anyway of getting in touch with anyone. But I let it slide. Blush

So now I have 8 days to go to stop being resubscribed. So went to unsubscribe, and had a real problem as it was telling me my password wasnt my password. After 3 or 4 goes I got as far as them asking for my bank card security code to confirm that it was me, but it rejected it saying it was wrong. I have had the card for a number of years so the security code hasn't change. And they were able to take last month's full sub.

Anyone else had a problem like this? And if so is there actually a person I can talk to, because I cant sign into my account as it claims my bank card security code is wrong!

All the online support doesn't have any info about this type of clich.

I am just baffled.

Have you got an iPhone? If so, go to Settings and search for subscriptions. The Apple TV subscription should appear there and you can cancel it from there too.

We had an Apple TV subscription for about a month to catch up with the latest series of Slow Horses. After that there was really nothing else we fancied so went to cancel. Couldn't find the Cancel option at all so, in the end, DH just removed the payment card details.

He got a few emails warning that if they couldn't take payment we would be unsubscribed. Well, yes, that's what we want to do but they make it so difficult.

Thanks for replies.

Its because somehow my details are corrupted on their servers that I can never get into my sub details to cancel it. Or remove payment card details etc.

And sorry to say I am the sad owner of an android phone.

However, and have not tried it, someone has given me a phone number for UK support. Hope its still in use.

Will try tomorrow and so long as I am not 100 in the queue will see if an actual human being can sort this out.

Or get my bank to block them taking money?!

This is the problem with everything being computerised. When it goes wrong nobody has created a system to help you let them know it has gone wrong.

Once again thanks, and sorry for typo in heading.

Last night I got the same error message about my bank security code number.

Tried to sign in with a new password today, and it didn't question my security code number, so click to go to my apple account and a huge message came up saying an error has occured.

So I dialled 0800 107 6285 and it is Apple. Waited for about 30 minutes to speak to anybody. Although they claimed they couldn't see any problems, when I went back to apple I was signed in.

I was so relieved to get off the phone I forgot to ask for my sub they had got because I couldn't sign in to cancel it in July.

Will think twice about subscribing again.

I've had a somewhat similar problem. When I tried to sign in it said my date of birth was wrong. I am pretty sure I know my date of birth. I couldn't watch programmes or cancel my subscription. In the end I spent ages on customer support speaking to several very nice people who found it very difficult to understand what my problem was. The only solution was for them to cancel my subscription (which I hadn't wanted to do as there were a couple of things I wanted to watch, including the latest Slow Horses). Very irritating.

I sympathise.

They have now sent me an email saying they hope I have learnt how to sign in.

I specifically said can you report it as computer program error.

Can you set up a new one? With a different email account of something.

And give yourself a different date of birth!

I cant find an emoji to express just how totally peed off I am at Apple.

Having thought well that's sorted, I attempt to access Apple via my tv only to get a message saying I wasn't logged in and had to go to another part of the apple web site to enter the code showing on my tv.

So I wont got into it in detail, but it said it didn't recognise my new password and I should reset it. So when I entered it as my new password they said I could use it because I had used it before.

And no end of enter info, having it confirmed via text messages, which went on and on, and just when it said I could go to my acount I got this message (see image) which is exactly the same as the one a month ago when I could log in to cancel my sub.

There is going to have to be something really, really special for my to every sign up to them again.

At the very least they should have someway reporting an error like this. So much for tech making the world easier. Too often it is a cul de sac.

Thanks for letting me rant! Smile

Sorry! just have to add this.

Someone suggest I go on the Apple community support forum.

And I know with other companies this can get a quick response.

But of course I couldn't sign in as you can only use your Disney account to sign in!!!

Well fingers crossed, having been tempted by a new Black Friday offer on Apple I tried to re-subscribe.

And yes I got the unexplained error again.

Really cross as having bad time at the moment (not anything dramatic but one problem after another that I have to rely on others to sort and the never do) so thought I am not going to let a system human or otherwise stop me from some small enjoyment.

So I asked Google AI. Took a while to get it to focus on the subscribing to apple via a windows computer, and after a bit of thinking it told me how to delete the apple app on my computer which I did.

And its all working now.

However, with so much else being promised and then never materialised I will wait until tomorrow to see if I can log in.

Not a great fan of AI but compared to doing a google or any other search it is so much faster and more accurate.

Will now look at recent Apple threads on here to see what I can now (I hope) catch up with.

Would be really nice to have one thing work as promised!

Confused
