Oh Marin must be doing better than I thought - he did have a good run at Wimbledon

I’m watching Stars of the Open. It’s good fun. João is lovely but loud! He’s playing with Delpo against Andy Roddick and Alex Michelson.

They brought a little girl out to play and she’s amazing!

Just looked at the draw. I’m nervous about Lore having to play GMP in the first round. GMP is in the semifinals in Winston-Salem and seems to be in good form. Lumberjerk is also a tough draw for Carlos, who always seems to play his worst tennis in R1. Djok has a pretty kind draw unfortunately.

On the women’s side. Iga will be relieved that Jelena is on the other side of the draw!

Just seen a post pop up on insta from Todd Woodbridge to Errani and Vavassori. Totally agree with him.....congratulated them, called the mixed doubles an exhibition and stood up for doubles players. He's probably off the USTA's Christmas card list

I was surprised- but he's won a couple of challengers this year, and had a good run at Wimbledon, which will have bumped up his rankings. It's nice to see him doing well.

Marin is playing Sasha Bublik in R1! Should be a good one, although Sasha hates playing in America.

There was a time Sasha hated clay though Ice- and look at him now. So maybe he will change his mind .

But it's a shame they are playing each other.

Ha ha, that’s true Raahh, I remember him saying Rafa’s RG titles shouldn’t count for the purpose of Big 3 discussions, because clay wasn’t a real surface. I wonder if he’s changed his tune

DD1 has just come home from her holiday in Nice with her Gf - amongst other things, she has got me a 1920s styled postcard of the Monte Carlo tennis tournament.

My dad used to travel all over the world for work- at one time , I had a massive collection of key rings. Wish I knew where they all went!

Hi Supercalib - I’ve never been to the US Open so sorry I’m not able to give you any tips - I’m usually just an armchair tennis viewer for this tournament (time difference and Sky coverage permitting!)

Are you in NY already? It always looks quite hot and busy and the US Open but hopefully a lot of fun - hope you have an amazing time

Are there any local Facebook type groups that could give you some tips? Or maybe the US Opdn website?

Hey no problems. Yes it’ll be hot so fan and hat with cool clothing at the ready. Probably wanting to understand kore about when on site, how far in advance to get there. I’m good on travel there from the city.

I think everyone has given up pretending the mixed doubles was anything else Fizzy. Sara and Andrea got a massive pay bump for not having to really do too much.
