As I say, this is the countdown to the end, now we're in the last week of the series. I think it finishes on 4th Aug... Just over a week away.

No clear winner(s) at the moment really, quite a few unlikeable contestants, and lots of arguments and discord! I'm almost looking forward to this series ending to be honest! 😆

If Shakira had stayed with Ty or Conor she would have easily won. But she is probably more concerned with brand deals than winning in the long run.

Or indeed, more concerned with being with someone she genuinely fancied. If she was all about the brand deals, she'd have stayed with Ty or Connor to win, so I don't follow your logic at all. She's been pretty straight through it all that she's tried with various others, Ben too, but if she's not feeling it, she can't fake it. It annoys her that she feels it with Harry, but she feels it nonetheless, and again, that's neither about winning nor brand deals. I think people are reading too much into the Aldi chat, which was just a funny convo in the moment, not some evil masterplan behind her every move to score a supermarket deal. If she does, good luck to her, but it doesn't mean that's been her motivator throughout.

Its a little bit irresponsible for the producers to be pushing the Harry and Shakira love story. Its just showing young teens that its ok to be treated like crap and gas lighted. Cant stand Harry, I think he is so fake and these tears are simply because he seems the end in sight and its his last attempt to go for the win.
I dont even think Shakira likes him as much as she claims

Yeah, I don’t mind Meg recently and I liked her at the start but she won’t get my vote as I don’t think Dejon should be a winner. I also hope younger viewers don’t think their relationship is aspirational or even typical in any way. He’s manipulative but it’s subtle and therefore potentially insidious.

I agree , I’d like to think that Shakira doesn’t have a game plan and that Aldi convo was just innocent jokes ! I also do feel as in real life bloke s ego is dented ( When Shakira and Blu kissed ) he goes off with available option and not show true feelings. I hope he doesn’t treat Shakira like he’s treated Helena. I have a feeling he won’t and if I sound delusional so be it 😊

Totally agree. I think Shakira's issue is she wants a man with a bit of an edge, to keep her on her toes. Unfortunately those types are the ones that generally break our hearts. She probably just needs someone with a bit more banter than Ty or Conor, who just seem nice and reliable, but not particularly fun and heart racing.

Exactly this. It's always these types that worry me as they suck people in slowly before they realise what's happening and by the time they start to realise, they've been isolated and can't find their way back.

I don't think Shakira was name dropping Aldi to get a brand deal with them. I think it was just banter.

But she knows as we all do that the winners don't necessarily get the brand deals. She knows it doesn't matter if she wins or not, she just needs to stay in and be memorable.
We all know the vast majority of them are in there for the fame and the brand deals so I am not hating on Shakira by saying this.
I am sure she is going to do really well on the outside.

Yes. They’re often extremely charismatic too which makes it harder for others to realise something is off and pinpoint to the person in a relationship with them what exactly this is.

It speaks volumes for this series when you're rooting for someone to win but you'd forgotten they were in there 🤣🤣

That's not to say I haven't enjoyed it though! I'd be happy with Toni and Cach or Yasmin and Jamie. This also says a lot about this series as if somebody told me much earlier on I'd be cheerleading for the brash American or the stepford wife I'd have laughed them off the thread 😱🤣

And why, since then, have they not managed to show her saying anything of any interest whatsoever?

I know someone that watches LI and he thinks the Harry/ Shakira/ Helena love triangle is one of the fakest stages ones he has seen in all the years of watching.

Agree with this. I recently watched some of the very early episodes that I'd missed at the time and everyone was expecting Shakira to choose Conor in episode 2. Harry actually said this to her and she said something like "I could have chosen Conor but he doesn't make me nervous like you do". (You can also see that Conor really really wanted her to pick him, much more than either Harry or Blu did 😥)

Can't fault the girl for enjoying the thrill of a bit of alpha male Daniel Cleaver style attention as have been there myself.

I do wonder if the producer meddling for drama with the obviously planted comment from Harrison during the podium thing sank her and Conor as it completely un-alphaed him.

Oh come on people do fall in love with unsuitable people and sometimes they manage to survive a lifetime even if it is far more toxic than Harry. Look at Ozzie Osbourne and Sharon . It seems to me like Shakira fell for Harry quite quickly so will she want to deny herself the pleasure ( and pain ) that comes with it.

Yeh we were laughing that we dont quite know why but it makes us angry how ridiculous it all is. He said cos you dont know the real people in there.

I buy that many (most?) scenes in the whole season are set up eg when someone walks in on another person at a convenient point, but that’s a v different thing to everyone’s emotions being fake. Sometime motivations might be murky, Harry’s in particular, but to think that Shakira and Helena are faking it all, is beyond cynical. Or your mate’s a sociopath! I guess it’s all to do with who we connect with. Like a movie where if you’re not into it from the off you’ll just never get why it makes others cry.

I don't dislike her and I like that she speaks deliberately and isn't afraid of keeping in with the cheerleaders. She seems ok. Maybe we don't see her because Jamie is so dull that they don't have anything to talk about. It was pretty clear that the production team told her she had to 'pull Blu' for chats. She seemed quite relieved when she finally got to tell Blu that she wasn't interested.

Completely agree with this! When Helena walked in to get her hairband (or something like that, not sure what it was) while S&H were talking upstairs, it was so obvious that someone (production?) sent her there.

I did like Shakira, but if the clip on AS it's true and she's back in Harry's arms then I'm done with her 😠

No idea who I want to win, probably Yasmin and (what's his name??) Jamie* at this stage - I'm fascinated by her impeccable posture! And she seems the most rational and mature of them all. But I can't vote so I'll leave it to to you guys.

Oh right. I missed most of last nights. As can't stand the sad music and trying to make us to feel sorry for Harry etc plus its dragged out in the last week.
But yeh there's absolutely no need for producers to do this.
It doesn't make the show better as you can tell is forced and not natural.
Producers must be very young! They should watch early years Big Brother!

Shakira isn’t a naive teenager, she’s a grown woman at 22, and a shrewd diva into the bargain. She brings out a protective instinct in people, but she’s capable of being hard-headed if it suits her. She knows exactly what she’s doing, and is playing a clever game.

I do think she’s been tired though, really didn’t care, and would have been happy to go home when it looked as though she wasn’t getting anywhere with Harry, but now she’ll be back on full charm offensive.

Unfortunately I think they might win.

She's made some fairly hilarious one-liners, my favourite being "what are those trousers Harry's wearing? They're giving 'I found myself in Thailand' vibes."
