As I say, this is the countdown to the end, now we're in the last week of the series. I think it finishes on 4th Aug... Just over a week away.

No clear winner(s) at the moment really, quite a few unlikeable contestants, and lots of arguments and discord! I'm almost looking forward to this series ending to be honest! 😆

@Picoloangelmakes a great point about Dejon’s mum’s hypocrisy in telling everyone to be nice and think about what they’re saying in the time they’ve got left in there, straight after using her time in there for a right old shit stir! Interested to see how what they and Meg’s family said shakes down as Meg in particular seemed confused (as is traditional) and Dejon seemed to twig that they’ve not come across the way he wanted and his cogs are whirring on how to fix that… and who to blame for it.

It’s a shame it was Cach’s younger siblings rather than a parent as they weren’t very articulate or insightful, probably lack of confidence because they were bright enough but it’s just a different dynamic with an older brother and their take is gonna be limited. I will say his 20yo brother was very nice looking so between him and Shakira’s sister, there’s sons good future islanders in the making there! Not so much Meg’s scary sister…

And Meg and Dijon will now just double down on the blaming others for how they come across. Jealousy blah blah.

Forgot to add - just to echo others - Toni’s mum was excellent value. I liked Shakira’s mum too, and honestly I don’t see what there’s to hate about Shakira being overcome with emotion to see the family she’s been missing. But I guess if people feel she’s fake then everything she does probably winds you up. I still like her and hope she enjoys the last week, wherever it leads.

i’m not sure Yasmin and Jamie should win. They’re nice together and Yasmin’s been good but that family session kind of captured how uninteresting they are on tv. I felt at one point near the end one of the family urged Jamie to do something, because apart from that caterpillar glimpsed tonight, we see nothing, and I swear they’re not leaving tv gold on the cutting room floor. It’s all just so mild.

I really struggle with Shaikra. Toni and Yas are much more humble and both are funnier too. I've always found Shakira to be irritating, quite attention seeking and full of maddening mannerisms, constantly flicking things with her hands and nails, clearly thinking it's cute and sexy.

She behaves like a little girl around Harry as well, plus she often dresses like one which is even odder. I just don't feel this apparent 'connection' between them. It's like a 30 year old man with a sixth former.

The family episode is so cringey. The families are all awkward and either try to be cool and fit in or pompously read a riot act. And then the whole 'hey, do you wanna come over?' I wish LI would let some things happen more naturally and not follow a set formula for each situation every year.

Do they though? They made a thing about pointing out that it was obvious he was more into Shakira and that he’d made the right decision.

But Shakira does know exactly what Harry is like. She’s been referencing it all the time, especially when talking to Toni and Yas about him. Even though I’m no fan of hers, I could see that she had him sussed. Which makes it even more puzzling that she’s entertaining being with him again. 100% the relationship won’t progress beyond a week once they leave the Villa. Harry will be like a kid in a sweet shop once he hits the night life on the outside, and Shakira and Helena will be but a distant memory…..

I didn't pick that up at all, I think she went over to try and help fix his mistake by apologising to her. She's probably used to enabling his bad decisions and then having to try and fix them 😅

Family day is so interesting because you can see why they are the way they are.

I feel like there's a class element at play re Harry and Shakira. When Shakira was talking about how interesting she found him, I wondered if she'd ever met a rich knobhead before. Shakira's mum cracked me up with her "Reeeeally?!" She was speaking for the nation.

Harry's lot seemed to vibe better with Helena and both families just seemed bemused with this recent turn of events.

Enjoyed Yas shouting, "He's a Gemini!" and Toni's mum being very American.

Why do you only want to talk about what you don’t like about them? And it’s always so bitchy as well. You sound like a teenage school girl.

I agree it won’t last but I also remember being young and hoping the bad boy had come to his senses and changed. He hasn’t of course. I think she knows that deep down but she’s hoping she’s wrong.

I do think he’s less of a Carry On caricature around her though which is interesting - he strikes me as a man who likes to get sex wherever he can and that was the appeal of Helena who was very overtly sexual. It was interesting though that she has said that sexually it was all one sided. Some of this stuff does make me think there is a grain (possibly a speck?!) of truth in what he’s saying. Plus lots of ex Islanders have been on the Podcast saying it’s always been Shakira for Harry.

Off topic but please for the love of god Helena stop pulling Harry for chats. She doesn’t want to chat, she wants to make him feel guilty so he’ll hug her and she can do her scratchy nail thing. I’m no Helena fan but I can see she’s genuinely upset and has every reason to be, but please have some dignity. I rather suspect this general doormattery is why we are where we are. I always say to DD two things not to run after are a dog or a man - they just keep running.

I don’t think it was a mistake him finally listening to his feelings and not his friends in the villa. Harry’s mum should have been just as apologetic to Shakira IMO. Helena went for Harry like a heat seeking missile!

I hope you’re right, I know who I would want for my son and it’s not the girl who told him that she couldn’t wait to fcuk him when he was coupled up with someone else. (typo intended!) But Harry’s mum seemed disappointed that he had chosen Shakira to me, and she visibly fawned over Helena as they were leaving.

Maybe his mum just felt a bit guilty so she over compensated? Perhaps she’s been played herself before so knew how it felt? I think sometimes we see our kids as extensions of ourselves, and perhaps she’s worried she’s going to be judged for his behaviour. I’m not convinced it’s because she prefers Helena.

It will be interesting to see how it plays out with Helena’s parents this evening! I wouldn’t want to be Harry in that situation. I also hope they give Helena a bit of a pep talk. Her lack of self worth and respect is concerning.

I meant the mistake being that he had hurt Helena in the process by his actions, which his Mum was apologising for. His Mummy dear must be disappointed by his behaviour but rather than call him out on it, she was trying to smooth things over with Helena on his behalf.

I can imagine that she has had to do that a lot for him in the past @Tulipsparkle.

Well at least we now know 1 reason for Harry's odd behaviour 🙄 He can do no wrong in her eyes can he 🙄 Reminds me a bit of the relationship between Sam Faires husband and his mother... and he turned out weird too.

Rightly or wrongly I think Harry’s mum was concerned about his mental health and sensed he didn’t need a dressing down on national TV.

She seemed upset that he’d been isolated and in tears without any support.

I am in no way condoning Harry’s f boy antics but as a mother I can understand why she didn’t want to risk him feeling isolated from his family after the last couple of days.

I’d probably do the same but in private have some stern words pulling him up for his terrible actions .

I can imagine her just wanting to make sure he's ok at first, and she did have a fair point about none of his "friends" checking in on him - I think that was aimed directly at Dejon.

Urgh theres something I cant put my finger on with Dejon and the edit hes getting and worrying a bit for when he gets out. Dont get me wrong, I dont like him at all. He hasnt treated Meg well, he definitely has his eye on the prize (clearly deluded there) and basically been full of shit. But I feel Love Island producers are really hamming it home with what they choose to show us constantly and they need to be a bit careful here. Makes me feel uncomfortable.

Still bored of the Harry and Shakira show. I think Harry is so fake.

I actually thought Harry’s Mum did subtly condemn him but within the limitations of him falling on his own sword and as you say the concerns about alienating him from family when he is obviously struggling.

Dejon’s mother on the other hand full on blamed the girls for how her precious boy is coming across. You can completely see where Dejon comes from with his mums antics. Deeply unpleasant. It was interesting how many other family members alluded to him including Meg’s.
