You can see half the cast all shiny from the heat and humidity. Grin And probably will for a couple more months yet at least!

Not a lot has changed since the beginning of the last thread!

Nina and Summer had a close shave when the police thought they'd attacked Gary when they were 'tripping.' Turned out it was Lou (who has been arrested.)

Lauren is falling for Aadi (he is cute to be fair.)

Debbie is fairly stable but sadly still has dementia.

Looks like Mick is going to cause trouble again, after being arrested for killing Craig. And Sally and Tim have been taking care of his and Lou's children.

Not much to be seen of the older characters, (I mean - like people who have been there 20+ years, not just the ones who've been there from the 1960s/1970s etc,) and Corrie is a little bit crime, and doom heavy at the moment.

But we do have a few 'light-hearted' moments to keep us going.

George and Glenda are always worth watching, Tim and Steve are funny together. Not fond of Cassie, but am warming to her and Steve being together, (and am warming to her a bit...) Debbie is a star and it's sad that she's ill, and DeeDee appears to be pining for her baby that she has 'given' to her brother James. James is being a bit of an arse to her too. Hope the little girl (Laila) stays in Coronation Street! She is adorable!Smile

Kev has been given the all clear and doesn't have cancer now, but is telling everyone he does. Tyrone has caught him out though, and told him he needs to tell Abi!

Swain has been given desk duties, and counselling, (after the trauma of the death of her colleague Craig,) but isn't taking to the counselling, as she thinks she's fine.

Sorry if I've missed anything!

.

I don’t think Sally has had any work done, yet she’s hardly changed in 30 years. She’s ageing extremely well but in a completely natural way. ( if she has had work done it’s very subtle ! )

Yeah, Sally is attractive and has always been pretty (still is,) but looking at her last night, I think she may have had some subtle fillers. Also had her teeth whitened I think. She looks fine though, unlike many others who have fillers/botox.

Has Hope got a new head too? Or is it just that I haven't bothered looking closely for a while?!!

No new head for Hope, same actress but just a different hairstyle

and she now looks shorter than Ruby

Checking in. Agree that Sally was very good last night, although telling poor Joanie (is that the kids name?) That she fell through the roof once was a bit of a foot in mouth moment.

Yeah, she could have picked a better time to tell her. 😬

Joanie has the right face for a traumatized child but I loved the way she perked up a bit responding to Sal's simple kindness.

Lets hope the new LIly is a good actress too

zanahoria · 15/07/2025 18:03

If Daniel is going back to Weathy High I really hope we have seen the last of the STC

I suggested this on here months ago

I was almost beginning to think that they do not listen to me.

Illjusthavethebreadsticks · 15/07/2025 18:45

Busybody Bernie and her big bag argh !!

Whatareyoutalkingaboutnow · 15/07/2025 19:14

I wish Abi would leave the lip fillers alone. So distracting.
I'd like her to slope off to Germany with whatshisname, Kev's brother, ideally.

Those who say walking into a school is unrealistic are sadly wrong. Primary schools are usually secure but many secondary schools have open entrance to grounds and buildings. I could easily walk into the classrooms of both secondaries near me when lessons are taking place. There is no money to ring fence large grounds and/or place security on all entrances. It is a real problem and the new Martyn’s Law (in light of Manchester arena tragedy), whilst setting requirements for all public buildings, has had to have exemptions for some education settings. The DfE will not fund anything and a schools have no money. Sadly it will take another incident to rectify this.

JellyBeanSpring25 · 15/07/2025 19:37

Loved loved Sally and good to see Mrs Crawshaw (who must be Dr Gadass’s sister) back - she looked 10-years younger!

Thequeenofwishfulthinking · 15/07/2025 23:15

@JellyBeanSpring25 It is very concerning about the two schools near you.
Currently the schools in my local area are as secure as possible. Nothing is failsafe but luckily the grounds are all gated with extremely high mental fencing (more suited to prison grounds) You can't access any buildings without being admitted and the staff in charge of the security doors can't be reached .

Deadringer · 16/07/2025 00:29

Sally was great but i thought Mick was good too on the rooftop scene, as was Joanie.

Agree Sally looks great for her age. Have seen the actress interviewed and she comes across as such a lovely down to earth person especially considering her daughter is a famous actress

Empress13 · 16/07/2025 08:20

Read recently that Jack P Shepherd (David) is the highest paid actor on the Street I was surprised as I thought it would have been one of the older cast members ie Ken or Rita

They do not really put the hours in

Yeah, it is a bit odd to keep getttng £250K a year for the small amount of scenes they're in now. I wonder if they're still getting it. When I googled this, Bill Roache is still coming up as the highest paid actor in Corrie, along with Jack P Shepherd/David .... Both on £250K a year.

Barbara Knox (Rita) is on £200K. Sally and Kev are on around £170K. As is Steve McDonald. They have been there since the mid-late 1980s.

I wonder why Jack/David is such a high earner? He didn't come into it until the year 2000. Also, he is a high earner compared to the actors who have been in it for the same amount of time as he has... (like Tyrone, Maria, Fizz, Kirk, Sean.) I like Jack/David, but I wonder why he's on such a high salary? The actors who play Tyrone, Maria, Fizz, Kirk, and Sean are on £100K to £120K a year. Tidy sum anyway, but I wonder why Jack is on so much?

Good agents are the key I suppose. I haven't seen David the dog recently.

JewelleryCat · 16/07/2025 11:30

Is the reason they’re paid so much because of the longevity they’ve been on screen? Like William Roache has been on since the very first episode, I think Barbara Knox came in the 70s but can’t be sure and is the reason we don’t see the older actors as much is their age and they slow down so can only manage a scene here and there?

I did also read, even though it was the DM, is that the younger/newer actors are paid per episode so cheaper for ITV which we know how ITV have been having money problems

I have always thought that (the longer they've been there, the more money they're on,) but as I say, David/Jack is on much more money than the actors who have been there 10-15 years longer...

The figures may be a few years old, it is only recently they have been significantly reduced in hours

and they bring in people like Mick who dominate the screens for six months, most jobbing actors would jump at that gig
