On week 5 now (I think,) and I don't think there is one single solid couple at the moment. They're all over the place! 😬

Agree with everything you have said. I love Jamie but of course you’ve forgotten him because he’s never actually shown! 😩🙄

Oh god yes, of course, the lovely Jamie. I just don't get the girls at all. Stop whining there are no good men out there and then ignoring them and choosing the boys. It drives me mad. 😂

pinkdelight · 16/07/2025 10:33

I don't feel sorry for Lauren either. Toni literally told her what a liar Harrison is and she acted like it'd never happen to her, only to find - surprise surprise - it instantly did. If she's surprised by that, she's a fool. She's much better off getting to know Ty, though perhaps she only likes guys who treat her badly. I think Toni is a fool too for believing Harrison's latest u-turn but at least she knows she's a fool and is aware of his twattery - though I agree she'll flip when she hears about the sex. No reason he should've told her about it though. Even though we've all seen it, it would've been even more rotten to Lauren to tell Toni about it the day after. Ugh, it's a toxic triangle and won't end well.

On a brighter note, I really liked what Emma said about Cache. It didn't seem to land with him because he was preoccupied with the Toni situation, but I was glad she saw his qualities instead of making out it was a leftovers friendship pick. Hope she doesn't mess him around for Harry scraps, though I do think Harry wanted to couple up with her and did look bored during Helena's speech. No way he feels the same strength of attraction to Helena as she does to him.

Connor and Shakira feel to have handled some tricky things more respectfully in general and I hope it works out for them in there. I thought it was odd that Billykiss picked Boris when he pretty much told her he wasn't feeling it so it's not a matter of her trying harder. She's a catch, she shouldn't have to convince anyone. Presumably she didn't fancy the others but it would've been worth a go.

I’ve decided Toni is just using the show as an audition to get on to the Netflix reality/dating shows and/or the traitors.
The circle, too hot to handle, perfect match etc they all recycle casts from other shows. Being a big personality on love island is probably a great calling card.

Because I can’t believe in any way that she’s doing any of this for Harrison.

See I was thinking this about Harrison also. He has seen how many times Casey has been back on LI on All Stars and seen how others like Toby etc who 'make names for themselves' get on other reality shows like celebs go dating etc and has his eye on more TV work.

Moremustard · 16/07/2025 11:36

Im not sure on Toni's 'performance either' it's likely more of a pride thing or narcissistic behaviour (same as Harrison) I was wondering if they've introduced the steal or split element again this year!

Just caught up. Don't care about the 2 couples who have gone. But OMG yes, what a massive nobhead Harrison is. Dreadful. Confused I liked him when he came in too. Pretty standard behaviour from some footballers. They treat their women like shit, and think they can do what they want, when they want!

Disappointed in Shakira last night. I had warmed to her for a couple of weeks after thinking she was a bit of a Queen Bee/full of herself for the first 2-3 weeks, but my opinion of her has gone down again. She came across as obnoxious last night.

Toni is an idiot, and her and Harrison are getting on my last nerve now. I hope they have a cull too (as a pp suggested.) Make viewers vote for their least favourite couple, and make them go soon.

Also struggling to feel sorry for Lauren. What she did with Harrison was beyond stupid, and that will stay with her forever now.

Gone off Toni sadly, which is a shame because I have liked her pretty much since she came in!

Helena is a wimp. Harry is an arsehole.

Boris using the lovely Billykiss is horrible. I liked him at first too.

As has been said, this is the worst series ever. Not one single solid couple, and very few likeable people.

I really don’t think producers should televise things like this. I know this sounds patronising but my mother used to tell me in my early twenties that my prefrontal cortex had more developing to do when it came to making sometimes very poor judgements and having an inability to weigh up consequences. It used to rile me up but I now know it’s true and she was right. I’m glad H admitted to intimacy too so it’s not just one of them. So I actually agree with any “Poor Lauren” sentiments. I also think Harrison may grow up to be ashamed of himself.

Come on if you go on Love Island you know exactly how to play it . She surely can’t be that naive in her 20’s not to know she is being watched manipulated (by producers yes agree) and judged by the public . Totally agree H comes out of it looking like some kind of Hero for getting 2 girls fighting over him but hey when did equality ever come in to play with boys and girls one rule for them and one rule for us. I don’t dislike Lauren and agree she’s been massively played by H but surely she has some common sense

pinkdelight · 16/07/2025 13:01

Is he using her? She picked him and it looked like he was hoping she wouldn't. Maybe I missed something?

I didn't find Shakira obnoxious. She couldn't win whoever she send home and she's been straight with Ty and is as honest/respectful as it's possible to be about the difficult situations the show puts them in. Maybe I wouldn't like her IRL, but she seems to be handling the show well and is able to be herself. Obviously easier if you're gorgeous and confident of course, though she has had her fair share of being dicked around.

Billykiss said to Boris she was worried he wasn't really into her and he certainly didn't put her straight, so that's why she went for him over the other Casa man. She obviously doubted his intentions but chose to take a risk based on what he told her, rather than play it safe with the other guy.

Shakira could have played it much better in that situation by giving Ty a choice. She wanted to keep Connor, so she should have let him choose between Harrison and Tommy but nope, Harrison is her friend so not an option.

You don't need to feel sorry for Lauren, but why is having sex stupid and why will it "stay with her forever"?

Having sex isn't something women need to be ashamed of, or something that lowers their value .

catbathat · 16/07/2025 13:15

I don't feel as though we have seen enough of Boris, Jamie or Cash to be able to form an opinion on their qualities or lack thereof.
I find Shakira so bossy, loud and up in everyone else's business all the time. She acts as though she owns the place!

jay55 · 16/07/2025 13:16

Having sex isn’t the issue, having sex in a room full of people, on TV is the issue.

catbathat · 16/07/2025 13:17

To paraphrase Mrs Merton, I wonder what attracts them all to the gold trader, Harry!

But Harrison also did that, and no one is mentioning it being some sort of blight on him.

catbathat · 16/07/2025 13:19

I also read the Lauren was included in a dry run of the show in May. So she has a bit of a headstart on all the islanders on terms of having played the game before, knowing the villa and the crew

Because he is not being ill-treated by his partner!

Ah thanks, I did miss that Billykiss bit, only saw him telling her he wasn't into her (not wanting to cuddle etc) so didn't realise he'd backtracked. It was v late so my attention may have drifted amidst the endless Harrison back and forth.

I still think it was impossible to make the right decision on who went home. What does giving Ty a choice mean in practice? His argument that Tommy is his friend is pretty weak given how briefly he'd been in there and the one he really wanted to go was Connor which he understood wasn't viable. He had his say, but must know the vote (making them top) was for her not him and she's been there so much longer. Giving him a choice could only mean he got his way, which is no better than her getting her way. They only do these things to make people look bad and I feel like they did their best under pressure. However on reflection, though it seemed impossible at the time, they should've sent Harrison home. It was news to me that he was Shakira's best mate, I thought that was Toni.

Agree with the sex stance in general, but Lauren isn't like Yasmin, owning it like happy sexpot and not getting too attached. She clearly felt ashamed and used and I don't think anyone could say her choice to have sex with Harrison was a smart and empowered move for herself. Even when she was talking to Meg and Helena and realised they hadn't had sex, she looked troubled and regretful.

Oh I think they are. He’s been pretty much ripped apart on here for a range of dodgy behaviours. Rancid is what I called both of them.

Harrison had sex with Lauren because it was there to be had. She had sex with him because she thought it would give her the upper hand over Toni. He’s a pig and she’s a fool.

But as many other posters have pointed out, it’s not the fact that they had sex. It’s the sex in a bedroom full of other people, openly and indiscreetly. On TV. The talking about it afterwards. That’s the low standards from both of them. They are old enough to accept the consequences of their decisions and actions.

See I thought he did put her straight. He honestly told her that he was unsure of how he felt about her. He said that when they get into bed at night that the urge to cuddle her, that was there initially, was no longer there. And he told her that its a worry for him that he feels like this. She thanked him for his honesty and then they agreed they would take it slow and just see what happens from here.

Yeah but that was once he had stepped foot in the villa. He used her to get in and she did tell him she thought he might.

I'm not sure why she picked him after he said that though 🤷‍♀️

Even if it is the case she regrets sleeping with him, I don't think it's helpful for other people to pile onto her and reinforce that what she did was "silly". Young girls reading that will think they lose something by having sex with someone who turns out to be a shitty partner and they really dont- the shame isn't on them.

Crossaintqueen · 16/07/2025 13:18

I don't think anybody on here is condoning what Harrison has done. We all think he's a vile human being. But at the end of the day, it's doubtful he'll ever regret having sex in the villa. Almost certainly Lauren will and she'll find it hard to rid herself of it, since its not been that common in the villa in quite a few years now, plus for the reason why she chose to do it.

Crossaintqueen · 16/07/2025 14:15

catbathat · 16/07/2025 13:20

Toni has no idea he is treating her badly- he's told her Toni is trying to come between them and that he sees her as a potential girlfriend. He's lying so brazenly, I'm not surprised she believes him because you don't expect someone to lie in such a way.

Lampzade · 16/07/2025 14:21

PrincessCalley · 16/07/2025 09:07

Lauren has let herself down massively. It's nothing to do with sleeping with him as there's no issue with that but she did it for all the wrong reasons. And in a communal bedroom on TV. She did it to try keep him and that's the worst reason. If she played a but harder to get it would have worked out better for her. Harrison likes the chase with Toni as it's more interesting. Noone, male or female, really wants the easy option.

Edited

I have been an avid watcher of the American version and something similar happened
A couple of the girls slept with men who lost interest thereafter
Lauren should not have discussed the encounter as it meant that the producers could then show it
