Just that.
I loved the characters, the script, the ridiculous plot.
What might I like next?

I enjoyed Dept.Q and also in the past loved Inhuman Resources on Netflix. French drama and v.good story IMHO.
Also another foreign drama this one based on true events in Poland- Operation Hyacinth.

afaloren · 30/06/2025 12:03

Have you watched Ludwig?

Or I really enjoy the Harlan Coben adaptations written by Danny Brocklehurst.

MonkeyTennis34 · 30/06/2025 12:13

Thanks for the recommendations @timestressed. We love a good subtitled series so I’ll seek those out.
@afaloren
Loved Ludwig!!

It was good wasn’t it? I also loved Ludwig and would recommend Death Valley (more cosy crime than angst but very good)

MonkeyTennis34 · 30/06/2025 13:35

@Igmum
Death Valley was great!
I do things other than watch tv (not really).

Its only on Apple subscription (I used a free trail to watch) but Slow Horses is fantastic.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 30/06/2025 13:40

My vote is for Black Snow on iPlayer. Also cold cases

StillCreatingAName · 30/06/2025 13:42

Agree @MonkeyTennis34 it was so, so good. Off the top of my head, Slow Horses is an equal, first series was the best imho.

DoNoTakeNo · 30/06/2025 13:44

According to Lucy Mangan (Guardian) Smoke (Apple or Amazon, can’t remember which) is a really good watch after Dept Q, though you have to get past the first couple of episodes.

Igmum · 30/06/2025 14:00

Agree Slow Horses are excellent (and the books). I’m also really enjoying A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder

MonkeyTennis34 · 30/06/2025 14:19

Thanks @EineReiseDurchDieZeit
Ive not heard of those series..are they American or British?

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 30/06/2025 14:34

@MonkeyTennis34 Sorry, this is just a series called Black Snow, it’s about cold cases and a troubled detective. Australian but on BBC iPlayer - two seasons

I would also look at Kin on iPlayer, Irish crime family

CaramelisedLeeks · 30/06/2025 14:36

We are loving poker face.

timestressed · 30/06/2025 19:04

Also The Capture on Netflix

MonkeyTennis34 · 01/07/2025 10:30

@EineReiseDurchDieZeit@timestressed
Loved Kin and The Capture!
Thinking there’s a 3rd series of Kin in the pipeline? 🤞🏻

Whitehorses67 · 01/07/2025 10:39

Kin was good but Love/Hate on itv is even better.
I’m already missing Dept Q too.
It reminded me a bit of House though obviously not medical. The stroppy but brilliant main character etc.
Slow Horses is excellent.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 01/07/2025 11:19

I wish I could get into Love/Hate but that first series feels very low rent and amateur

MrsLargeEmbodied · 08/07/2025 06:08

I presume you have seen The Bridge?

MonkeyTennis34 · 08/07/2025 07:33

@MrsLargeEmbodied
The Bridge…..remind me..
Definitely sounds familiar.
Oh! Is it the one set half in England, half in France?

OP posts:
Tygertiger · 08/07/2025 07:41

Black Doves on Netflix is great but you’ve probably already watched it!

MonkeyTennis34 · 08/07/2025 07:43

@Tygertiger
Yes, I loved Black Doves and may rewatch this December as it’s very Christmassy…as well as very violent !
