She’s nothing like Taylor Swift. Unless you think all youngish women singers must be the same. Totally different output, attitude and approach

Can’t say I’ve studied them in depth but they both sing a variety of ballads and faster songs and dont wear much clothing . I have no idea about ‘attitude ‘ and from what I gather Swift changes her outlook with her boyfriend so who knows .

borderlaise · 30/06/2025 17:08

The TS comments are interesting. Taylor Swift has released 11 albums across a 19 year career. She has different few boyfriends along the way, and various changes in her style and musical direction. That’s fairly normal for anyone between the age of 16 and 35. I don’t wear the same clothes as I did 10-20 years ago, or like the same men or listen to all of the same music. People change and evolve. Taylor’s early teen career was country music, then she went into pop and has moved between a few different genres since then. She writes songs, plays instruments and has maintained her massive success for a very long time. She hasn’t stuck with the same formula like some people do and this is why she has a huge fan base, made up of all age groups. You don’t have to like her or her music, but it’s a shame that people like to dismiss her being a serious artist. A man with the same massively successful 19yr old career history and 14 Grammy awards wouldn’t get the same sort of dismissive comments.

tinyspiny · 30/06/2025 17:31

I actually dont mind Taylor Swifts music , and I’ve seen her twice live I do not necessarily like her as a personality but that’s my prerogative and at least I’m not so narrow minded that I cannot separate her from her musical output . I actually haven’t criticised OR , my only comment was that with her audience of young girls she should swear less .

Jellykat · 30/06/2025 17:47

OMG I could NOT get to sleep last night after The Prodigy, and had an earworm from the moment my alarm went off, of.. 'I got the poison, I got the remedy....' 😁🙄

So I've got Lorde, Supergrass and Olivia R (to see Robert mainly) to catch up on this week..

Awww just heard Black Sabbaths final ever gig is next weekend, hope Ozzy gets through it, fair dues!! 🙂

The main index page is still up here:

At the moment that seems to be the easiest if not the fastest way to find acts. Its a list of all the video and sound recordings available.

I’m rewatching Prodigy on my lunch break - the FOMO has not left me 😆

I watched it again this morning 😆 Honestly it’s the best live set I’ve ever seen and I’ve been to some gigs in my time. What a wow moment for all those actually there!

Maccabees popping in a little Palestine mention before their last song was atrociously cringe.

See, I was willing to let that one go as the White brothers have Palestinian heritage. It had context and connection, unlike others

Jellykat · 30/06/2025 18:13

Oh fab, thank you @C8H10N4O2 🙂

Watching OR and although it’s not my demographic at all , she owned that stage, can play instruments , I even recognized a few songs.
I doubt I’d ever download her songs , but only 22 and headlining so confidently! Fair play.

the80sweregreat · 30/06/2025 19:17

Gavr up on Olivia after Robert came out! That was a good segment.
Trying out The Prodegy , head achy music , but the crowd are loving it! They are certainly loud and different.

JaneJeffer · 30/06/2025 20:03

Olivia’s band is great

Goingawayistricky · 30/06/2025 20:10

Did anyone else feel The Prodigy sort of fizzled out though? Weird energy at the end compared to the beginning.
I saw them the year before Keith died. They are just brilliant.

Goingawayistricky · 30/06/2025 20:11

@C8H10N4O2 great link !

I know what you mean. Still loved it though

Sourisblanche · 30/06/2025 20:34

Waited to watch OR with dd tonight after school as she’s a fan and ended up really enjoying it. Amazing at age 22. Really liked Rob of the Cure joining her on stage - although dd didn’t know who he was so I obvs need to show her some of the music from my era!

I also liked that OR said she’d been in the crowd the day before enjoying Pulp.

the80sweregreat · 30/06/2025 21:06

I did laugh at the way nobody knew who Robert smith was! The crowd for Olivia was very young though tbf.

the80sweregreat · 30/06/2025 21:08

Ds2 informs me that he is seeing the prodigy next year at Wembley ! I didn’t realize he was a fan tbh.

I didn't realise he was 66 so a year younger than I am, I saw them 40 years ago in the mid 80s, how time flies. The crowd did look young.

PlumpHobbit · 30/06/2025 22:43

Watching part of Prodigy's set on iplayer (will have to watch rest tomorrow)

Wow! The energy and engagement with the crowd

Surprised they were closing act, id want to go raving after them, they'd have been great for Friday night

I was at Vienna so that’s changed my view of TS forever.

Olivia though I adored.

I had to google it, TBH. The Vienna shoes were cancelled because there was a plot to carry out some terrorism acts.

It could have been another Ariana Grande scenario. I don't think it was wrong to cancel under the circumstances, but I can understand the disappointment. I hope everyone got a refund.
