Broadcaster Eamonn Holmes has come under criticism for allegations that he "kicked" a runner backstage during a broadcast earlier this month. Showbusiness reporter Dan Wootton (sorry, URL links don't seem to be shareable on here for some reason) has been discussing the issue on his YouTube channel 'Outspoken'. It is alleged that Holmes needed the toilet during a live broadcast and when he went to return, a Floor Manager told him to wait to go back on set, as he would be interrupting the scenes. It's alleged that Holmes kicked her in frustration. The allegations have not been confirmed to be true. Holmes is confined to a wheelchair following skeletal issues and several medical procedures and seems to be in poor health these days.
Holmes was booed on stage at the TRIC awards, where, as the only seated person on stage, he was amongst his GB News colleagues.
Dan Wootton has tonight released a video, branding Stephen Dixon - a fellow broadcaster, as "utterly vile", as it seems he has desires to poach Holmes's role as breakfast presenter.
Wootton reported that CCTV was checked and there was no evidence found of an assault on the Floor Manager. He also suggested that Holmes's girlfriend, Katie Alexander was behind a string of comments in The Mail Online website that defended Holmes and claimed that the Floor Manager has lied about incidents in the past.
BFB's Take On The Matter
I'm not sure what to make of all of it. Eamonn seems intelligent, I don't think he'd believe he could get away with assaulting a senior member of staff but then again he has been disabled by health issues over recent years, which must bring frustrations. If you'd have told me a year ago that he'd be booed on stage, I'd never have believed you.
There does seem to be a lot of tension behind the scenes and I'm not keen on Stephen Dixon with his early 2000s glasses and sense of arrogance.
It's all so weird. I'd never have thought Eamonn & Ruth would separate. They seemed like a very stable couple. Eamonn always had a gentle way about him, I can't imagine him hitting someone. I'm also aware that Wootton seems bitter since being sacked by the channel.
What do you think of it all?
