OMG @ 75 nappies a week - WHY aren't they in reusables?!!

expatinscotland · 22/05/2008 21:38

the council housing helps, too, wilted.

amner · 22/05/2008 21:38

Agree with the personal details.... but dont forget this Government lost his child benefit details 12 times already !

Gawd.... my life is so different ...........

BetsyBoop · 22/05/2008 21:38

75 nappies a week - that's like 10 a day, do they never change their bums? there are at least 3 kids in nappies....

Alambil · 22/05/2008 21:39

Oh that's so sad; almost like "I wasn't asked - I'm stuck with him" or is that an inaccurate translation?

southeastastra · 22/05/2008 21:39

that poor woman seems to be a prisioner to that awful man

cali · 22/05/2008 21:40

Expat, I'm being serious, have met a lot of families through work who may not have as many children as those featured on tonight's programme and the majority do live on benefits. I realise that there are lots of large families who do not live on benefits, it's just that those that I come into contact with, do.

LyraSilvertongue · 22/05/2008 21:40

He sounds like Johnny Vegas. I couldn't live with him.

BetsyBoop · 22/05/2008 21:40

I'm no problem with people having 2 or 3, or even 4 or 5 kids, but I'm sorry having 13 kids & no means of supporting them & expecting everyone else to pay for them is totally irresponsible IMO

MsHighwater · 22/05/2008 21:40

Is that car seat strapped in?

expatinscotland · 22/05/2008 21:40

Depo, Noreen, Depo. I hope that HV came round when he wasn't there and told you about Depo, it's made for women like you!

God, we had SO many who had 10+ kids and were desperate not to have any more.

avenanap · 22/05/2008 21:41

None of those kids are strapped in.

katz · 22/05/2008 21:41

mshighwater - nope not strapped in

thewiltedrose · 22/05/2008 21:41

yup and the council housing.

I get £105 a week and i pay for me and the two kids, the bills, the food and other things.

So imagine if i had 8 more kids id be getting over £1000 a week And its only nappies and food id be buying as i would have had stuff from other kids. If you look at it that way your actually getting more money than most even with the kids.

Alambil · 22/05/2008 21:42

Would she be allowed to though? I always thought some religions discounted all contraception etc so she could get into major doodar if anyone found out?

BetsyBoop · 22/05/2008 21:42

I feel really sorry for the Rochdale woman, the other two women at least seem to WANT to keep getting pregnant, she has definitely had enough (and who can blame her, two pregnancies was enough for me, even if we could afford more I couldn't face pregnancy again )

MsHighwater · 22/05/2008 21:42

Thought not. But then I say something today I thought I'd never see again. Car driving along with an adult in the back seat holding a child in her lap - then she took off the seatbelt!

practicalparent · 22/05/2008 21:43

I understand a bit of the arguement when ppl go on about the disgrace of families ever expanding and on benefits at the time. I Understand 1st hand as I am from a family of 9 kids. True my mother and dad both went a period of yrs when neither of them worked though both did attend night school,do open uni and uni courses etc. (my dad has Bac arts degree& Hons degree)
However upon my youngest brother startin school my mother learned 2 drive and (ironically!) became a midwife, my father also began working.
Another testiment 2 their time lookin after us wud be that their children now are fully contributing the society -2 are teachers, 1 an astrophysicist(brains of the family!lol!), 1 a self employed artist,1 a joiner,1 a qualified nursery nurse and 3 more doin well and still studying at school.
Therefore my argument is that u cant always judge or critise sum1's choice 2 have so many kids and not all 'sponge' or set this pattern 2repeat through 2their children. We were always taught the importance of education and always told 2 aspire and aim beyond what our parents had achieved. So I think that my parents did a fine job and valid contribution (u may class as a repayment) 2 the economy/ country etc.

expatinscotland · 22/05/2008 21:43

No, but some do it, anyway, Lewis. Most of the women we treated in such situations were either married to Latin American men who were very macho or African or Muslim.

AitchTwoCiao · 22/05/2008 21:44

haven't read thread yet... this jock lot seem nice enough. nice house, are they millionaires?

MsHighwater · 22/05/2008 21:45

Just realising that two of these families are Scottish.

bramblebooks · 22/05/2008 21:46

good point starlight - pmsl! He does seem a good dad though (if not a totally supportive husband in 'all' senses).

findtheriver · 22/05/2008 21:47

please someone slap Mo

Heated · 22/05/2008 21:49

None of these parents are feckless in the sense of breeding children and then putting their feet up waiting for the next handout. They all seem to work damn hard. I know we're about how much at least one of the families must cost in benefits, but I can't think many will copy their example.

thewiltedrose · 22/05/2008 21:49

And he thinks shes kidding she loathes the man you can see it
