Don't know what it said, but the long and short of that story is that the original child died in a tragic accident but Katherine buried her body so the violent father didn't find out, then travelled to Romania and adopted a near look alike and raised her as her daughter. Eventually in the series the abusive ex finds them and comes to realise that the daughter is not what she appears and the truth is outed...then he kills the lodger who is with Gaby and Carlos before he is killed by Adam who happens to turn up in the nick of time after escaping from where he was being held prisoner and left for dead by the violent ex!
