There was definitely a technical of some description early in the show when they went to a screen of 'what's coming up' and cut away from the arena.

I wonder if there was a protest of some sort on stage.

No protest on stage, but all the way through the performance of Israel there was a LOT of booing, and people had snuck in whistles and Palestinian flags. We could barely hear her.
