just watched this on Disney Plus and cannot believe that Cressida Dick was made commissioner

I've watched it too, the cast and script are great but I feel it's too soon, too close to home to be dramatised. Yes I agree re Cressida Dick.
I'm surprised the show has got so little media coverage (apart from the One Show of course)!

MoreChocPls · 06/05/2025 20:06

Haven’t and wouldn’t watch it but I am fairly confident that aspects are untrue or dramatised.

MabelMoo23 · 08/05/2025 22:48

Am watching it now and said the exact same thing. After such a catastrophic and tragic errror, HOW was she made commissioner?

Meredusoleil · 09/05/2025 22:20

Am half way through watching this now (2/4 episodes) and am shocked that they made it look like he was shot at close blank range several times ON THE TUBE in front of other passengers whilst he was sitting there minding his own business and not posing a threat to anyone!!! And all that despite the man following him saying he didn't even resemble the guy they were looking for ffs.

I was sure the press reported him being shot as he was running away along a tube corridor rather than on an actual busy packed train itself and that they shot him from a slight distance?!?

Piggywaspushed · 09/05/2025 22:25

To be honest, read Wikipedia to establish that. He was shot on the train many many times.

suburberphobe · 09/05/2025 22:29

That's what happened though. That poor guy.

I don't have Disney +, would love to see it.

Yea, Cressida Dick. What's in a name eh? Bitch.

The press said a lot of bullshit at the time. They got the info from police sources who realised they had fucked up big time.

He was never running through the station (proven by cctv), he was sat in the seat and shot 8 times (7 in the head and 1 in the shoulder) after officers fired a total of 11 shots. He was murdered and his poor family have had no justice at all.

TheaBrandt1 · 09/05/2025 22:34

To be fair the program is very good. Too good - painful watch. Am making sure in my mind I blame the terrorists they were the ones at fault

Meredusoleil · 09/05/2025 22:36

Why did she give the go ahead though, when the main guy following him said it didn't look like Nettle Tip or whatever the code name for Hussain Osman was?!?

TheaBrandt1 · 09/05/2025 22:39

oh god just got to the shooting. Absolutely horrific. No excuse. Poor poor man.

Yes that is what they reported because the police lied.

DuckBee · 09/05/2025 22:46

If you go on iPlayer there is a documentary about the 7/7 bombings that includes the shooting. It’s factual and includes recordings made at the time and covers the dis-information that was released by the police.

read it and weep @Balcanoona

Meredusoleil · 09/05/2025 22:50

I think I watched the BBC documentary last year.
There is also one on Ch4 called Shoot to Kill, which I will watch when I finish this one.

BangersAndGnash · 09/05/2025 22:55

He was reported as having been seen by an eye witness running into the station, jumping the barriers, pursued by police.

It was bollocks, spouted by a bystander who had seen the police running into the station, NOT JCdM.

Just watching this now, what an absolute fucking shambles. Cressida Dick needs to hang her head in shame and be stripped of her Damehood and all her other honours, then hand her QPM back, . The fact that she doesn't seem to have any shame doesn't surprise me, she always comes across as someone who doesn't think she's done anything wrong.

HugHog · 16/05/2025 21:40

Watching this made me so angry. What a disgrace.

ConcernedFriendgbvc56 · 16/05/2025 21:44

The reports of a man running and jumping the barrier were actually the undercover plain clothes officers

HugHog · 16/05/2025 21:40

Me too. I know we were at a heightened state of alert but they killed an innocent man and then lied about it to cover their own arses.

Meredusoleil · 16/05/2025 22:03

I also can't believe the Police Commissioner at the time (Ian Blair) refused to resign when the truth came out 😡

ArtemisiaTheArtist · 16/05/2025 22:18

I was working on the Tube on 21/05/2005. This brought back horrible memories. I really should’ve avoided it. How the Police tried to discredit Jean Charles was disgusting. I don’t trust the Met anyway.

Nominative determinism
