Just finished watching this last night and I have a few questions…..

  1. Was the man who raped the main character ever brought to justice?
  2. Did the Martha character go to prison IRL?
  3. Which elements/characters were fictional?
I thought it was extremely shocking and bleak in parts, particularly the grooming and subsequent sexual assault by the older writer. I really wasn’t expecting that. The acting, particularly Martha was excellent. The monologue in the theatre was heartbreaking.

The older predator didn’t go to prison and within the industry it is known who it is. Martha had been charged with offences (maybe gone to prison).

I loved the ending. It does get darker and darker doesn’t it? Really good drama.

@vincettenoir
It was relentlessly dark!
Why did you like the ending?
Do you think he was trying to find a way of understanding in some ways why she behaved in the way she did? So he wouldn’t have to stay angry/obsessed with her? (Her voice message about her childhood).
I was a bit disappointed with the ending.

Yes that’s right. He found himself in a similar position to the one she was in at the start.

I liked the way she is portrayed as many shades of grey. And he is also a really complex character.

I know what you mean I was expecting it to end on a more uplifting note. But when I sat with it I thought it was just right. I guess the uplifting ending is the Edinburgh show and hit show and Emmys etc.

Massively overrated same as Adolescence
