mumofoneAlonebutokay · 09/04/2025 22:19

So we're three days in Mickey Rourke has managed to insult: Jojo and the entire LGBTQ+ community Drag queens Patsy's cooking Donna's weight He's had a telling off from Big Brother re his comments and discussion of nominations Mickey has been nominated by Jojo, who had a killer nomination, and is the first housemate to be up for eviction.

Daley Thompson is immune from being nominated, thanks to Mickey. Trisha has a lot of stories Donna wears an LED mask to bed Jack P Shepherd has been mute 🤐 so far (as his biggest hater, I love it 🤭)

Contains discussion of the spoiler content shown on Late and Live (ITV2) but no further spoilers please 🙏 No spoilers from the live stream or the tabloids Here's the link to thread one: www.mumsnet.com/talk/tellyaddicts/5307304-celebrity-big-brother-starts-mon-7th-april-on-itv

I mentioned on the other thread Jack has a reputation of being a bit of a nob in my town, especially when with a group of mates

what gets me is he's had hardly any air time. I want to know and see what he's been doing to wind up so many people in such a short amount of time

Someone said upthread that he has short man syndrome and I agree

Sort of person who thinks sly digs are a sign of intelligence 🙄

I've just caught up, bit gutted at who's up. I loved Donna's nominations - as someone said, so deadpan! Ella was very astute in her nominations - she understands the reality game.

mumofoneAlonebutokay · 11/04/2025 14:40

I think that the showmance (between ella and chris) that will be forced on us by itv is a waste for Ella

I think she'll be a big surprise and be quite likable

OP posts:
dapsnotplimsolls · 11/04/2025 14:44

At the moment, I don't want Ella, Chris or Chesney to win - they're all being too careful and playing the game. I hope they have a task soon, they must be bored to bits!

I took it all as a joke though. Does he really think she'd sleep with him? Surely not. Would he really evict her on the basis of her not sleeping with him? Nope. Should he have gone that far with a girl of her age? No, of course not, so he's been warned.

Also, this environment is totally different to a normal working environment. We want to see how these people react with each other without being on their best behaviour. The show would be pointless if everybody was totally PC all of the time. Let people behave as they do normally and allow the public to judge them as they see fit.

The only time I think they should pull someone from the show is if they're repeatedly targeting and bullying someone.

Ofc it was a joke. Surely people ln X etc haven't been suggesting he was actually serious?

I don't think corrective rape jokes, or rape jokes in general, are ever OK, even if it not directed to someone as young as Jojo. I'm really surprised people are defending the joke.
I don't mean your post- it's that on comment sections/SM a glance seems to show people arguing it's not hateful as it was just joking/flirting, 'woke' protesters are 'killjoys' etc

AliasGrace47 · 11/04/2025 15:47

I'm bi myself & from the lesbians I know irl & the chat forums I'm on, aggressive threats or unpleasant lecherous responses about 'turning you straight' are still way too common. Esp in the US. Even if there's no a physical threat implied, why should lesbians always have their sexuality made the butt of hackneyed, creepy, sexist 'jokes'?

I'd like to do a few thought experiments : Imagine if Mickey Rourke were a gay man & Jojo were a 21yo straight man. If it were a gay man joking 'I'll turn you gay. I'll tie you up.' Or a lesbian joking that to a young straight woman. There would be fundamentalist & MAGA protests against the 'violent, predatory gay recruitment agenda'. The fact it was a joke would be completely glossed over. Lesbians don't tend to prey on young straight women, whatever some homophobes think, whereas straight men still too often prey on young lesbians. But ofc bc the joke was by a straight man to a lesbian, there's cries of 'cancel culture' and 'lost sense of humour' if someone criticises, but if the shoe were on the other foot, it would be completely different.

Whelp I'm out
Turns out less than 24 hours is what it takes for people to turn someone from the recipient of a rape joke into a smug angry lesbian against a loveable rouge
This has played out exactly how it always does, exactly what i said in the last thread and is exactly men continue to do this

At the risk of being told off for lecturing again. This is our daughters, this is the way we are teaching girls to tolerate this and stay quiet. You can't be annoying (or even wear shorts?!), you can't be lecturing else it's you deserve it, and if it happens you can't talk about it, react to it because then you're playing the victim.

I knew the online reaction would be like this in other forums etc, the comments about jojo are vile but I expected that as women we might see it for what it is

Edited

I hear you, I don't get it either.

Honestly? If a lesbian made similar comments to me, I'd laugh it off. But I'm quite old, hence in my earlier comment I mentioned at JoJo's young age, these "jokes" are so much more wrong and highly intimidating from a man like Mickey. I think JoJo handled herself well... far better than I'd have done at her age anyway.

8dateslater · 11/04/2025 17:55

I also expect the "micky definitely going"/ smug comment that made people want him to win comes from being a bit naive about how much people would care about it.

I suspect it was a "someone made a joke about raping me on national television, then made a few other homophobic comments in public that were highlighted, you all saw that right? There's no way that everyone would all vote for him after that, people will vote him out over everyone else who's done nothing bad or who's just been boring. Who's done anything worse?"

Id expect there's many early 20s people who'd think similar and would misjudge the public support for that sort of experience.

There's lots of encouragement of young women to hold their own, speak up and challenge this type of thing but the actual support if you do is very limited. Its what happens to that industry all over, historically they were told to keep quiet for employment but now they are told to challenge it but not prepared for the backlash against them if they do

HurdyGurdy19 · 11/04/2025 18:28

Just seen a headline saying Patsy Palmer has left the BB house due to an altercation with Danny Beard.

Wonder if they will cancel tonight's eviction because of it

Edit - I saw it on a TikTok video but clicked clumsily and couldn't go back to it.

I can't find the story anywhere else yet, so may not be true

Hmm..I think part of this issue is that these people are American. I post on Reddit a lot & on threads about lgbt issues, esp but not limited to more right wing forums, I see a lot of nasty Rhetoric about predatory lesbians (ie ALL lesbians according to these idiots) & gay agendas. The antics of the TRAs in schools haven't helped with that. I feel the general climate in the US is more hostile to lesbians than here. Reddit is not representative probably but it does indicate views to some extent.

Of all the people to have an altercation I wouldn't have picked those two.

mumofoneAlonebutokay · 11/04/2025 18:38

I can't see any sites posting that patsy has left, so I don't think it's true, thank goodness! I love her

We get spoilers from watching late and live, so i thought it would be hard to avoid them

Plus there's also the live stream

Yes I wondered this and also we don't know if Mickey has said other things that haven't been shown etc which would lead the housemates to guess he will be voted out

dapsnotplimsolls · 11/04/2025 18:43

Nothing about Patsy on X.

Ahhhh, sorry. I didn't think a decision has been reached whether to include news or not.

Sorry if I missed it

mumofoneAlonebutokay · 11/04/2025 18:57

@HurdyGurdy19

That's okay honestly

If enough people want it to be limited spoilers, I can email the people at admin to change it

It could be:
Spoilers from late and live accepted
No spoilers from ttabloids or the live stream?

I think that's fair. If it's been on late and live many will have seen it. I think the live stream, tiktok is less looked at. I don't look at either.

Agree about Trisha. As much as I feel for her medical predicament, she always turns every conversation back to her. Asking Daley who his hero was then not letting him speak to tell us all about her friendship with Nelson Mandela was just irritating.

Gosh yes that was just so 🙄🙄🙄

TellingBone · 11/04/2025 19:11

I think Late & Live has to be allowed because often it's not something that will be seen later - for instance they sometimes show live house footage that doesn't make the highlights. Also wee clips that likewise don't get seen again.

utterexasperation · 11/04/2025 19:12

It's an interesting one - when Jojo was trying to tell MR that you can't use the word transvestite it's transgender she's completely wrong 🤷‍♀️.
