Think we will give it ago . Don't have high hopes for it though .

Gave up about 10 minutes ago . Seems very slow.

I enjoyed the first series. Just binged series two.

Watched the first ep. If the lead guy was in the first series, either I didn't watch it, or it was very forgettable! These Aussie series usually seem to be set in Queensland, and it can look pretty spectacular. I'll stick with it.

And would you recommend series 2?!

Not sure why but someone has started another thread for this programme but very specifically for "tv pace".

So will ask MNHQ to add to the title of this thread "Binge watch"

Okay?

Have now watched 2 episodes and didn't find it slow, but it doesn't seem to matter which country these detective series are based in they all have many of the same plot lines.

But am intrigued enough to find I am watching Ragnar Lothbrok solving crimes in present day Australia, so will continue!

I dont think I can have watched series 1.

Has everyone else given up?!

I've finished watching now and my main take away is that, with the exception of one character, everyone is just not a nice person!

I think the problem for anyone who watches a lot of crime dramas that is is quite hard to make one that doesn't have an issue or plot line that has already been used.

And in the end many of these crime dramas are about families, both internal dynamics and interaction with other families.

As I couldn't work out who the culprit was I watched to the end, and in fact prefered the more low key approach, and not having endless acts of violence, and car chases and all of the high octane, macho cliches.

And think given the last few scenes they are thinking there may be a third series.

Just to add, I later started watching the recent episode of Grace, and in fact that was so tragically silly and implausible, I think it made me think this series of Black Snow was quite good. Even in having everyone being so unsympathetic.

I’m still watching - 4 episodes down so I will come back when I’ve finished!

diddl · 13/04/2025 15:10

I've watched it.

Enjoyed it overall.

I agree it made a change not to have a killer panicking & killing more to hide what they'd done and cars rushing & getting there just in time...

I saw series 2 was on Iplayer and I then saw the first series which I hadn’t seen so I watched it. I was hooked. Australian drama can be so hypnotic. I’m currently on series 2 episode 5 and I’m just as hooked. The detective is less charismatic in this series, he’s less confident and looks like he needs a haircut and a wash. But the storyline is very gripping. I want to watch the last episode after this but it’s too late…

ErrolTheDragon · 28/04/2025 22:48

The ending with his brother though….

IwantToRetire · 29/04/2025 02:03

Maybe I should watch series 1 again. I only have a vague memory of it.
