We aren’t massive TV watchers and can’t often find a film we would both enjoy (in fact in five years I think the only film we have watched together is Monty Python’s Holy Grail). Last year we started watching The Big Bang Theory and we saw the last episode last weekend- now we’re struggling to think of something else.

Don’t mind American or British, we have mentioned going back to Blackadder or Friends (but I recently saw all the Friends with my dc). Don’t like the office (too cringey). Don’t fancy Young Sheldon. I’m open to things along the lines of Silent Witness, detective type things; he likes funny or factual. Series better than films so the commitment level is less!

Hit me up with your best suggestions please!

Definitely happy valley if you haven’t seen it
Bones

Well the obvious would be 'Young Sheldon', I know you say you don't fancy it but I really got in to it.

Ghosts both UK and USA versions.

Money Heist, watch in Spanish with subtitles.

The change, the second series has just been released. It's a bit quirky and you need to give it two episodes.

The Bridge
Breaking Bad
Mad Men
Deutschland 83

Well if you like Python, Big Bang, and Blackadder, then try the IT Crowd and Motherland.

Detective shows, Vera is one of the best.
Netflix, Peaky Blinders, Queens Gambit.

How about - On of my all time favourite comedy shows - You need to get past the first season though as it really gets much better as you go along

Two other shows I have absolutely loved recently:

and is also a wonderful show

Other shows I've loved that may sit outside your exact parameters

- Not at all funny but absolutely riveting and such a briliant show with facination and complicated main characters. The trailer makes it look like a standard thriller but it really isn't. It is one of the vest shows I have every watched - alongside the Sopranos, The Wire and that ilk - though less well known. You may have to pay for this though. I can't remember

- YouTube

Enjoy the videos and music that you love, upload original content and share it all with friends, family and the world on YouTube.

The change.

Series one is on catch up and series 2 is on TV now (and on catch up) give it a couple of episodes before deciding if you like it.

The Americans is also one of my favourite. I think I may rewatch as it’s been a while since I’ve seen it.

Also loved Dark, but did take me a few episodes to get into it (I kept going after it had been recommended by so many others)

Catastrophe
The Crockfords.

Tigerlilian · 11/04/2025 21:09

Schitts Creek - give it a few episodes.
