I too felt a bit sorry for Eliot and after seeing how shallow Lauren is I’m sure we didn’t get to see the whole picture of why he dumped her. Veronica certainly put on a Performance there you can tell that she is an actress!

Empress13 · 03/04/2025 03:39

The funniest thing for me last night was watching crazy eyes Jacqui making Aaron do the wedding dance yet again to prove he wouldn’t drop her🤣

Springee · 02/04/2025 22:38

This for sure, he just wants to stop all of them having a go at him. Whilst he's not perfect, he's struggling to cope with Morena

Yes, as if Tony gives a crap about having kids. He just wants a quiet life without too much inane conversation, no friction and plenty of time alone.

whatapalarva · 03/04/2025 07:34

Does anyone else REALLY REALLY want Ryan to drop Jacqui again when they do the dip? 😂 I would love that. I’m sure he kacks himself a bit every time lol

Every time. It should be their "thing"

TBH, that sounds like the perfect husband. Nothing more boring and annoying than a partner who has to talk constantly.

Dillite2 · 03/04/2025 07:50

And especially needs to have "deep and meaningful" conversations. Just tell me about your day and then shut up.

I think there might be a reason for why I am single.

I've suspected all along that that 'wedding dance drop' is responsible for Jacqui being a complete loon, especially if she landed on her head. I think she needs some medical attention ASAP.

Morning! I’ve watched MAFs for years, always follow these threads and decided this year I’d partake 😁 also only caught up on episodes last night!
My thoughts on Eliot were that the experience with his sister has made him the way he is today. His mum was crying which made him cry too and then his dad was the strong one showing no emotion and observing that made him decide to never let emotions control him again.
I think what Veronica failed to do was put herself in that 9 year old boys shoes. That would have been a core memory and very traumatic. I found her reaction to be so patronising. Especially her saying ‘Don’t paraphrase me’
Adrian is a repulsive man and you know he’s been talking trash to his family but they seem to enable him and believe he’s perfect. Thank goodness Cleo arrived and could see how drained Awhina is. She needs to get out of there

Outofthepan I adopted at 49, not a baby but a young child. So, 53 doesn't seem that old to me.

Respect, @Italiangreyhound

I had my dc at 38 and the very thought of it at my age 🙈😂

Did anyone else shudder when one of Morena's friends said that being married meant never having time alone?! Imagine!!😆😆😆

This is why I'm happy I'm married to a gamer. He's in his office, and I get the living room to myself!

OMG yes!!!

I'm one of those people who absolutely has to have time alone, and have been lucky enough to marry a man who's the same. The thought of being married to someone who wants to do every single thing together is enough to make me break out in hives.

And the thought of being married to Morena ... ugh, I can't even. I have a feeling she comes into her own and is nicer when she's around people who are just like her, but she and Tony are all wrong for each other. I'd need 'Tony time' too if I was him! 😂I've actually started fast-forwarding through some of their bits because I like Tony and it makes me sad to see the look on his face when Morena starts on him.

I need Tony Time too. I feel sad for Morena. I feel like she's been through so much that she's struggling to be in a 'relationship'. Even with her worst bits, she was so lovely with her son at the wedding - life must have been tough for her.

It’s not an illness HE has though? It’s an illness his Sister has. So she was sort of right to question how much the story was actually about him.

Hmm, I disagree as I felt his reason for choosing that anecdote was to explain something about himself, namely why he's emotionally guarded. I'd go so far as to say I dislike him slightly less now for that. I couldn't believe Veronica's reaction to it, and I'd thought she seemed nice and grounded till last night. Easy to see why she's struggling with relationships if last night's episode is anything to go by, though!

I agree that Eliot was at least attempting to do the task. It did read like a year 6 writing exercise with the a focus on adjectives, rather than a letter/personal account, but I think he tried to find an experience that was emotionally charged. And his Dad's response was a way of explaining why he shuts down emotions. He experienced only 2 extremes - Mum wailing as if the world was ending and Dad taking charge and demonstrating zero emotion. If that is an accurate account, it probably does go some way to explaining the origins of his non existent emotional intelligence.

It was a perfectly reasonable story from which Veronica could have expanded the discussion and modelled mature interaction.

I still maintain she's a plant. She's not invested in the relationship or process.

‘If you want your own time, you can’t be in a relationship’.

Shit. Nobody tell DH. We’ve always enjoyed our own time from time to time. If he gets wind of this insight we’ll have to be together 24/7 😬

Absolutely, it’s the reason my marriage works. Me and DH have always had our own time and our own interests…….I think it makes a healthy relationship and something to talk about!

😂. I don’t even like talking about my day. Inane chit chat drives me mad. I probably should be single or with Tony. We could sit in comfortable silence together.

MargoLivebetter · 03/04/2025 10:48

I definitely need "Tony Time", which is one of the reasons I don't live with DP. I'd get very depressed if I had to be with someone like Morena and to be honest I'd make up any old shit to get out of having to be with her. I think Tony is being a bit cowardly about it, but I do sympathise.

JaneJeffer · 03/04/2025 11:37

I don’t think Elliot has any real emotions. When he smiles his eyes are so cold. It’s like he does it because he knows he’s expected to but he’s not feeling it.

I laughed at Tony’s get out of jail card. Morena must be exhausting to be around. I would leg it every weekend too.

Need to catch up with the thread now

cramptramp · 03/04/2025 11:54

Modena sucks the life out of Tony. She’s so serious and needy. If I was him, I’d have left the programme ages ago.

KittenPause · 03/04/2025 12:31

I actually quite like how Veronica was towards Elliot because of course he is that way to others all the time so made me chuckle how confused he was with the situation. She was a bit too harsh even though she has a point. Plus Elliot is dismissive to women’s feelings in general so I refuse to feel an ounce of sympathy for him going through once what he puts others through constantly.

Mowena is bloody hard work.

Adrian is everything that is wrong with a man and enabled by his dreadful family and friend

InALonelyWorld · 03/04/2025 12:47

Just caught up with last nights, I actually felt a bit sorry for Eliot too. I get he's an arse but I saw that letter as him trying to explain why he's so void of emotion. It seems that from 9 year old he was shown 2 sides to a coin the distraught mum in a crisis and the robotic, practical dad. He admitted, like his mum, he also cried in that event. Who actually knows that after that if he was either trained by his dad to be less emotional or just took influence from him?! It's very obviously learnt behaviour. Veronica was pretty awful and condescending tonight, regardless of whether Eliot deserves it or not.

Tony and Morena are likely to be off this week then, im glad he's found a way out which stopped him getting a whole load of aggression for. I wonder what Paul has to confess.

Also, hope this isnt a spoiler but I've seen that Adrian's friend has released an apology for her treatment on that episode to Awhina.

Xerttinmyselfnot · 03/04/2025 13:00

I did feel a bit sorry for Eliot but only a bit. Lauren has really turned Veronica against him but perhaps he had it coming.

Yes poor old Tony is scared to death of upsetting Morena, so this baby story is a get out of jail free card. Or so he hopes.
