What do I want to watch on Netflix?

The conversations around Adolescence have made me want to restart my subscription! I also want to watch ep2 of Squid Game. Is there anything else to add to the list? I'll probably only keep it going for a month or two.

I really enjoyed apple cider vinegar which is about belle gibson, a fraudster “wellness influencer”

If you have not seen Dark watch that

100% agree. Probably the best science fiction show ever. Everything is wrapped up in the end, everything is explained, it’ll have you so confused you won’t have a clue what’s going on but you’ll love the ride.

Member984815 · 20/03/2025 15:31

And if you have time after watch don't go home , it's a similar vibe to Dark

Is Toxic Town worth a watch?

Yes definitely

Nobody Wants This (romcom type series)
Black Doves (spies/preposterous but fun)
The Diplomat (more spies/more preposterousness/Rufus Sewell though)
One Day (romance/Leo Woodall)

Is Toxic Town worth a watch?

Watched the whole thing on Sunday, based on a true story and really enjoyed it. Would recommend.

Fear of thirteen is amazing. Baby Reindeer?

Pigeonqueen · 20/03/2025 17:49

The Confession is really interesting- true crime drama.
Toxic Town
Gabby Petito documentary

Just watched Adolescence and it's probably one of the worst things I've watched on Netflix. Episode one showed a lot of promise and some aspects were vaguely interesting in the later episodes but overall it was very meh. Bad acting, very slow, felt like half a series (although nothing on earth could persuade me to watch an entire court case in real time which is probably what the rest would be). Storyline could have been a lot more, felt very vague/unlikely especially in terms of motive and explanation. Side characters weren't developed enough. They needed more of a build up with what the victim was like - maybe even cutscenes to her life - to build up sympathy. It was like a first draft of a series that could have been great. My partner was watching it on and off with me and said "so what happened with x?" about several things and I just had to tell him - there was no explanation or it never went anywhere.

I agree Apple Cider Vinegar is great.

Gabby Petito and the other ones in the series also great.

If you like Squid Game then Alice in Borderland is my number one pick for you - you have to watch the first couple of episodes though, episode one isn't that great. The 8 Show also really good.

Toxic Town was a 7/10 for me - not amazing but not a waste of time either.

Baby reindeer is a very good call from a pp.

I'm enjoying American ghosts ATM, but not sure if that's on UK Netflix.

LadyWhitwell · 21/03/2025 14:49

Currently watching The Residence it's very good. Also loved Yellowstone and 1883.

DreamyMe · 22/03/2025 14:51

American comic, Bert Kreischer.

Agree with apple cider vinegar. It had me totally transfixed
Breeders- Very bingeable as all the episodes are very short. Some very funny, very relatable bits and really dark, moving bits. If you liked Afterlife I think you would like Breeders.

I couldn't get into yellowstone but 1883 is excellent and just started 1923 and that's good too. I love Kevin Costner just could not get into the story

JoyousEagle · 22/03/2025 15:50

I also liked Apple Cider Vinegar.

Ive watched the first two episode of The Residence and am enjoying that as well.

Definitely 1883 is miles better than Yellowstone. My problem with Yellowstone was that none of them were likeable. I love 1923 as well though not watched the new season yet, I want to binge it once all episodes ate out.

Is Toxic Town worth a watch?

Yes and it’s actually written by the same man as Adolescence. I would also recommend the Gaby Petito story.

CoffeeBeansGalore · 22/03/2025 15:59

Unforgotten - UK police drama, very well done.
Capture - Met police /spy drama, again good.
Anatomy of a scandal - UK political/crime drama.
Night Agent - USA FBI/spy thriller 2 x series.

I keep meaning to watch these. Does it make sense to watch in order of release (so starting with Yellowstone), or chronological order starting with 1883? Or does it not matter at all?

It doesn't matter the order but better to start with 1883 which shows the journey to them settling where they are in Yellowstone.

I agree I could maybe have gotten into yellowstone if I'd watched it this way instead

Is Toxic Town worth a watch?

Yes because it’s a good story. But Jodie Whitaker’s Scottish accent is so bad I found it hard to watch. I think it was even worse than Mel Gibsons in Braveheart.

The characters in Yellowstone were AWFUL. Beth has to be the worst female character on TV ever!!!!! She was just horrific and had not a single redeeming trait yet everyone seemed to pander to her absolutely nuts behaviour
