New Bergerac - Thursday 27th February on U&Drama

Sorry if there is a post on this already, I looked and couldn't find one.

I am really looking forward to seeing how this turns out. I was a big fan of this back in the 1980s/ 90s. Of course it did have John Nettles in when he was young(ish)!

Intrigued by some of the changes, i.e. :

• Bergerac is a widower not a divorcee
• Charlie Hungerford is his mother-in-law not his father-in-law, played by Zoe Wanamaker
• There is just one case over the full 6 episodes rather than a new case every week

Some similarities:

• He is still an alcoholic
• Still has a daughter called Kim
• Same car!

Bergerac to be played by Damien Molony.

I hope they keep the same theme tune.

I'm a big fan of the old one, and watching re-runs on Gold atm, but got to say it hasn't aged well. Looking forward to this new one though

I occasionally watch the old re-runs, in fact there was one the other night. I don't like the ones in the later series as much where he had stopped being a cop and moved to France. But I still like the earlier ones, even if the plots are sometimes a bit unbelievable. 80s nostalgia maybe!

I went to school with the girl who played Kim in the original series. I wonder what she is up to now? Anyway, looking forward to this. I love Jersey.

That's where I'm up to now, which is probably the reason I don't think it's aged well ! But yes, 80s nostalgia - can't beat it!

We have watched a few of the episodes of the reboot and enjoyed them.
It has a really good cast and has been produced to a high standard.
The 80’s were our era, and we watched the original version regularly, but this is very much made for 2025 and not the worst for that.
I love the Channel Islands, and Jersey still makes an entrancing backdrop!

I watched the first episode tonight. I haven't seen the original.

I enjoyed it. Will watch again. Do prefer storyline to be 'completed' in one episode though.

Love Damien Molony and hoping this works out well for him!

I remember him as Hal in Being Human.

He was a very sexy Hal, bad or good.
Watching ‘Putting on the Ritz’, Hal being bad is my guilty pleasure.

I've just watched episode 1.
Damian Molony is not how I pictured Bergerac. ☹️

Anyone else think it very strange to get rid of the nanny when the baby's mother has just been murdered.
Surely a wee baby would need some continuity ?

This is where you pick up the red flags/possible clues to the plot curve.

I watched the first episode last night and enjoyed it. I’m disappointed by the theme tune though.
