I agree. So often soaps go for the dramatic ranting and railing and shouting in these situations. I found it so much more 'real' and emotional, watching Kerry climb onto the bed with Amy and wrap her arms around her, a real 'mum' instinct, trying to protect her child even though this was now impossible. I haven't cried at a soap since Arthur Fowler died in Eastenders but last night a tear or 2 slid down my cheek at this scene.
Similarly, Kyle was excellent, the realisation that his mum was gone dawning on his young face, really excellent acting.
It's not fair to make comparisons probably but much of this week's episodes were head and shoulders above the Marlon / April nonsense - the only emotional response that inspired in me was irritation.
