January flew by in the blink of an eye
Leanne and Steve are getting close
Cassie is drugging Ken day after day
Dose after dose after dose

Abi witnessed Mason's very sad death
She's struggling to keep it together
Carla and Swain are still an item
I wonder if they'll last forever

Bethany and Daisy are always at war
Over Daniel I know what a surprise
Gemma and Chesney are off on a trip
And Nick and Toyah are making us roll our eyes

Kevin may have cancer that's all that he needs
But Tim and Sally seem sound
Amy seems troubled I hope she's OK
And with Leanne and Tracey, mischief is abound

David and Shona are always on their toes
Scared of Harvey's heavies coming at them
Eva has left, will a few more will leave soon?
Will things be quite different by the next full moon?

All the old regulars don't appear much these days
Or any funny storylines or good feeling
It's just like The Bill with all convicts and thugs
And crime and violence that just leaves us reeling

Daisy is pregnant but who's the daddy
She doesn't seem to want to know
I wonder if we'll ever know or she'll keep it a secret
Now that she's decided she is going to keep it!

DeeDee's still pregnant I think but she's gone quiet
Lauren's been cleared of her 'crime.'
Debbie's still sassy, and Ronnie's still sexy
And Kit is in Corrie all the time!

!

Am I reading this wrong or is van man the new neighbour?
20K damages is a bit steep!
I'm wondering if the new neighbours will have a vendetta against Ches and plan to ruin their lives in revenge? joy

I'm not sure it was the full 20k... think they paid their debts off and it was what was left over that they were going to use for a holiday.

MonickerMonica · 18/02/2025 09:39

The whole kidney donor/transplant farce is a massive insult to all those irl who are or have gone through the agonies and waiting/hoping experiences. The actors having to read their scripts and rehearsing these wildly unrealistic scenes must surely be hating it all but at the same time it's keeping them employed and as for winning awards I can't roll my eyes enough 🙄🙄🙄🙄

MonkeyAround · 18/02/2025 09:41

Could the new couple have some relation/estrangement to Les or his accident at work?

Swains reaction to Carla was odd, it would clearly be self defence but I suppose this will drag out all week to give kit more screen time. I was also surprised with her minor injuries considering how hard and how many times rob hit her.

friendlycat · 18/02/2025 09:41

I can't believe they actually pay the script writers any more as it's just got progressively worse over the last few years.

Last night's episode won the gong for me in the worst ever load of garbage for a British soap.

It's just at new depths of awfulness that I'm not sure I can be bothered with it any more. It's almost insulting to the viewers now.

stampin · 18/02/2025 09:46

Kidney Care UK have been very unhappy at the latest Carla goings on.

Unsurprisingly!

Nowadays every character is turned into a criminal so they may as well start that way! Gone are days when they introduce characters and they are nice normal people.

I think Ches said they had enough left over after the damages to go on holiday to Swansea or summat.

I think it's just that he's the van man.

Technically it wasn't self defence... but I'm not sure you'd be panicking it was hard to say it was... plus at that point Swain didn't even know what had happened! You'd never straightaway assume that a woman who was bedridden had managed to push a man down the stairs 🙄😂

I'm glad max didn't go on the run to Auntie Becky - that would have been more unbelievable tripe. I guess he's going away for a long stretch now - is actor max leaving? If not, we'll be blessed with more prison scenes. Perhaps he'll share a cell with his step brother, Clayton who killed his mother?

So Lisa will now cover up charges over Carla's attack on Rob. (Is he dead or gBH? If it's murder, it would seem fitting as he went over a railing rather like Tina did!)

More police station, hospital, prison scenes incoming.

zanahoria · 18/02/2025 10:14

It is always hard to work out who will go to prison and who just gets let off. Abi seems to have got away with her latest crime.

I guess they cannot lock them all up.

Dylan is up in court too.

The trouble with the Corrie crime wave is that it even innocuous looking lads like him and Jack end up commiting serious crimes.

I suspect Sam will go on a killing spell next

MoonWoman69 · 18/02/2025 08:19

Swain knew Carla was there because she'd made Rob take her there before she was going to transfer the money over to him.
But to be honest, the amount of effort he put into beating her up, I thought she'd have been dead! Amazing that she managed to run into the building without a scratch on her!
I agree, it's all getting too ridiculous now. I can see the writers drumming their fingers on the table, then coming up with the most ridiculous storylines ever to justify their wages! Because they seem to have absolutely no clue what they're doing! The whole kidney transplant thing has clearly not even been researched!
As for Gemmas new "bezzie mate" and her bloke, one word, hideous! The sooner they're gone the better and they can take Gemma and Ches with them! But I can see this weird plan they have being drawn out until Christmas, the way the plot on the rest of it has been going!
Chesneys money has gone on paying van man his damages hasn't it?
I'm completely baffled that the actors are still putting up with this rubbish writing. If I was in the cast I'd be constantly searching for another job! But I suppose it's an easy gig for them, turn up, do as you're directed, go home and get your salary.
It used to be quite the thing to be in Coronation Street, now it's an embarrassment!

Wouldn't Gemma have loads of stuff to do on her day off.

Does all the cleaning and washing created by 6 people disappear or food shopping

Not sat around drinking.

zanahoria · 18/02/2025 10:25

Corrie is grim viewing for any young viewers if teenagers even watch.

All the lads end up being bullied, bashed over the head or killed.

All the girls end up being molested, upskirted, impregnated, drugged or raped.

All teens really want to see of their age group on telly is young people mucking about and having a laugh.

Not much chance of that on Corrie

Her half brother, Aidan, who later committed suicide.

Thanks, I remember now you've said

I liked the way Carla told Mandy Rob was bad news as he pushed Tina off her OWN balcony. As if it wouldn't have been quite as bad if it had been someone else's 😂

CellophaneFlower · 18/02/2025 10:50

Best case scenario for me now would be Rob to be alive... but he's ruptured his remaining kidney 😂

I watched both Coronation Street and Emmerdale last night. Emmerdale was the limo in the pond episode and Corrie was the Carla/Rob kidnap from hospital episode.

The difference in the quality of the productions was astonishing. Emmerdale was filmed so well, good script, all characters who are rounded and known well to the viewer so we care about what happened to them, good plot, keeping to the main story arch of the episode (none of this jumping from plot to plot) and the plot was well paced and interesting. In comparison Corrie was sadly dire.

Surely ITV are aware of what is happening to Corrie, it used to be one of my favourite programmes, I would record it if I couldn’t watch it but now I don’t bother and if it is on I often do something else too as the programme doesn’t hold my attention.

i think ITV will announce at some point in the next two years that due to lack of viewers Coronation Street will be ending. They seem to be purposely running it into the ground while focusing all their talent and resources into Emmerdale and it shows.

TheodoraCrumpet · 18/02/2025 13:58

I don't think there was a single minute of yesterday's episode that didn't have me weeping for Ena Sharples. Okay, Ena was a little before my time. Bet Lynch, then. They'd have both made mincemeat of Rob, dispatched the awful new neighbours, given Harvey a good telling off for his terrorising ways, and then settled down for an evening in a pub full of non-criminal punters.

aspidernamedfluffy · 18/02/2025 14:26

Just watched last nights...pure comedy gold. The bit that had me laughing the most was when Swain turned up (after Rob had beaten her), with not a mark on her. It was like the re-generation of The Terminator. I did the classic MN thing of snorting my coffee out.

I don't understand why they are cutting characters but replacing them with the numpties who are moving in behind Gemma and Chesney.

AmusedMaker · 18/02/2025 15:17

Agree Getupat8amnow

ITV probably can’t afford to run two soaps anymore so tossed a coin & Emmerdale won. They’ll run Coronation Strret into the ground with ridiculous scripts and then stop it altogether due to falling ratings.

CellophaneFlower · 18/02/2025 15:26

I mean if we're to carry on with the ridiculousness, I guess Carla and Swain will decide there's no way Carla won't be done for murder (I mean how on earth could a man who'd just had a major op fall down the stairs of his own accord whilst running from the police) and Swain will dispose of Rob's body in the Platts house prior to it being renovated.... oh wait... 🤔😂

If you want to find out if anyone else is going, I recommend Digital Spy

Shellingbynight · 18/02/2025 16:51

That is really interesting @Getupat8amnow
I stopped watching Emmerdale a few years ago, maybe I'll try it again. Corrie is so bargain basement now, odd that Emmerdale seems to have a better budget. Or maybe they just spend it more wisely.

It was announced weeks ago that Max is leaving, allegedly it is the actor's choice. I'm not sure he's going to have a stellar career.
