January flew by in the blink of an eye
Leanne and Steve are getting close
Cassie is drugging Ken day after day
Dose after dose after dose

Abi witnessed Mason's very sad death
She's struggling to keep it together
Carla and Swain are still an item
I wonder if they'll last forever

Bethany and Daisy are always at war
Over Daniel I know what a surprise
Gemma and Chesney are off on a trip
And Nick and Toyah are making us roll our eyes

Kevin may have cancer that's all that he needs
But Tim and Sally seem sound
Amy seems troubled I hope she's OK
And with Leanne and Tracey, mischief is abound

David and Shona are always on their toes
Scared of Harvey's heavies coming at them
Eva has left, will a few more will leave soon?
Will things be quite different by the next full moon?

All the old regulars don't appear much these days
Or any funny storylines or good feeling
It's just like The Bill with all convicts and thugs
And crime and violence that just leaves us reeling

Daisy is pregnant but who's the daddy
She doesn't seem to want to know
I wonder if we'll ever know or she'll keep it a secret
Now that she's decided she is going to keep it!

DeeDee's still pregnant I think but she's gone quiet
Lauren's been cleared of her 'crime.'
Debbie's still sassy, and Ronnie's still sexy
And Kit is in Corrie all the time!

!

I don't remember ANY of the stuff about Clurrr. Shock Looking forward to seeing it in Classic Corrie!

Sam is a sanctimonious, judgmental pain in the arse. He turned his back on Leanne in the blink of an eye, switching his loyalty to Toyah who had an affair with her brother in law.

Leanne is flawed for sure but she was his step mum and they were close. If I were Leanne I would stop grovelling to Sam (and would be tempted to tell him to get stuffed!).

I have never taken to Sam.I find him rather creepy.I think that his character was dreamed up by Corrie bosses during a mad moment.

Yeah, I don't like him either. His voice is annoying and wispy, and he is condescending and irksome... And sorry, but the lad who plays him is not a very good actor. The actor (Jude Riordan) only got the part (IMO) because he is related to a director who has produced some episodes of Coronation Street (as well as some episodes of several other soaps.)

From Google...

Coronation Street director Paul Riordan has worked on the show, as well as Casualty and Emmerdale. He also directed Hollyoaks from 2008 to 2020. His son is Jude Riordan who plays Sam Blakeman in Coronation Street.

No way would Jude be in Corrie if his dad hadn't been a Corrie director.

Perhaps that's another twist. Sam will end up being the real mysterious van 'boy' and platt house arsonist. Max is covering for him as knows how it feels to lose a mum young.

His reasons? Well... he thought Chesney was being a bit of a twat getting pissy over a parking space when he REALLY needed to nip into freshcos quick for a bottle of pop and some minstrels for his night of observational science... and the fire was a drastic attempt at getting Hope to realise they're kindred spirits and there's so much more to him than a dodgy hairdo and a chess board.

I am really not keen on the whole precocious child thing that seems to crop up far too often on TV shows, especially when they try to push it is endearing.

suburburban · 16/02/2025 08:13

Me neither and yes they do have these sorts of characters in soaps

'Let me know when the old Leanne comes back' (or words to that effect).

Fuck off, you annoying and patronising Lego-haired twat.

Shellingbynight · 16/02/2025 08:40

They used to do it a lot better years ago - Rosie, Sophie, Simon, Chesney. And of course the original is David, who was perfectly characterised and written. For me the problem with Sam is that he is always self-consciously 'acting' so I don't believe his character at all.

The best child actor at the moment is Hope, although she is too one-note manipulative/borderline evil. Corrie don't likely subtlety any more.

zanahoria · 16/02/2025 18:06

They have really over egged the "out of the mouth of babes" thing with Sam pointing out all the faults of the adults who are stunned by his wise words. Children that age are occasionally astute but frankly it does not happen that often.

And nobody likes a smart arse.

CellophaneFlower · 16/02/2025 19:27

He was much better as a mute, for sure.

Couldn’t have put it better myself.

HurdyGurdy19 · 17/02/2025 08:16

I thought there were signs on Friday, when Sally accompanied Kevin to his hospital appointment, of a re-kindling of their relationship.

I hope not, because I like Sally with Tim.

Shellingbynight · 17/02/2025 08:38

I thought that was for 'old times sake' and because the writers remembered Sally had had cancer herself. Kevin in obsessed with Abi (for some unknown reason!) and I doubt Sally would leave Tim.

I am fairly sure the reason is that she is quite pretty and twenty years younger than him

Kevin is definitely punching above his weight with Abi! And yeah the age difference is quite big.

Kevin is like 62-63 or so?? He has been in Corrie 42 years (since 1983,) and he was in his early 20s then. So he has to be early-mid 60s I think.

Abi is around 36-37 I think. So the age gap is around.... 25 years I think.......

Each to their own, but I couldn't think of anything worse than being with a man several years off drawing his pension, when I was so young and vibrant (and only in my mid 30s!)

Fandom has Kevin’s DOB as 3rd September 1965 but no DOB for Abi

You'd think Rosie and Sophie would have to make an appearance then... he's got cancer AND it's his 60th this year

Edited

He’s 60? Looks older but yes, you’d think the girl would make an appearance

Also, does anyone on this thread think Lou looks a bit like Shona?

YourHappyJadeEagle · 17/02/2025 20:23

The scripts are getting worse. Every storyline involves criminality. And the dreary characters, Gemma’s new neighbours, the tedious prison officer woman. And a man who’s just had a kidney removed has overpowered a physically fit prison officer…..

HurdyGurdy19 · 17/02/2025 20:24

severely weakened, having just had major surgery, Rob manages to overcome a fit and healthy prison guard, undress him, get him onto the hospital bed, then dress himself in the prison guard's clothing

Yes, that is 100% believable!

Illjusthavethebreadsticks · 17/02/2025 20:29

Think Lou looks very like Maria. The whole tedious nonsense with the nans vase is rubbish.

Yes it's just ridiculous

That hospital nonsense, where are the staff when all this is going on

Does David actually go to work, where is Sarah

TellingBone · 17/02/2025 20:36

Arsonists, guns, bent prison officers, murderers on the loose, life or death operations

Bring back Hilda Ogden I say

I thought it was just their crap acting.
