January flew by in the blink of an eye
Leanne and Steve are getting close
Cassie is drugging Ken day after day
Dose after dose after dose

Abi witnessed Mason's very sad death
She's struggling to keep it together
Carla and Swain are still an item
I wonder if they'll last forever

Bethany and Daisy are always at war
Over Daniel I know what a surprise
Gemma and Chesney are off on a trip
And Nick and Toyah are making us roll our eyes

Kevin may have cancer that's all that he needs
But Tim and Sally seem sound
Amy seems troubled I hope she's OK
And with Leanne and Tracey, mischief is abound

David and Shona are always on their toes
Scared of Harvey's heavies coming at them
Eva has left, will a few more will leave soon?
Will things be quite different by the next full moon?

All the old regulars don't appear much these days
Or any funny storylines or good feeling
It's just like The Bill with all convicts and thugs
And crime and violence that just leaves us reeling

Daisy is pregnant but who's the daddy
She doesn't seem to want to know
I wonder if we'll ever know or she'll keep it a secret
Now that she's decided she is going to keep it!

DeeDee's still pregnant I think but she's gone quiet
Lauren's been cleared of her 'crime.'
Debbie's still sassy, and Ronnie's still sexy
And Kit is in Corrie all the time!

!

I was thinking about the Rosie/Sophie absence. If Kev is diagnosed with cancer then surely 1 or both of "the girls" should make a return (with or without new heads) at least for a little while. Most adult DC (unless they are NC with their parents), would want to be there to support a parent going through cancer wouldn't they?

Yes, it will be a bit weird if Rosie and Sophie don't turn up, once they find out their dad's suffering from cancer (if he absolutely is.)

Also, it used to really grate on me how Sally always called Rosie and Sophie 'the girls!' Always 'the girls, the girls, the girls.' I've got two daughters and I call them by their names when I'm talking about them. They've never been just 'the girls.'

You could understand it if she (and Kevin) had got 5 or 6 daughters, but it's not that hard just to say Rosie and Sophie. But yes, I really do think that 'the girls' should pop back, (as you said unless somebody's complete no contact with parents, why wouldn't they pop back?) And they could have Sally and Kevin having grandchildren. Most people with two children would have at least one grandchild, I would think. Especially as Rosie and Sophie are both in their 30s now.

And as has been said, it's not like they have lots of other TV work. I do wonder why, because they were both good actresses. Maybe they were typecast after all, and found it hard to get more work? That said, other actors and actresses who were in Corrie managed to move on/get other roles.

Tbf, helen practically plays herself 😂 She's very much like Rosie. I can see why Rosie wouldn't have kids though - she was very selfish and self centred.

I've got 2 sons and call them "the boys" I don't think it's that unusual.Confused

Helen Flanagan/Rosie really annoyed me on Celebs go dating. She wasn't even single FFS.

eggandonion · 07/02/2025 11:39

County must have a new footballer , that would be ideal. Footballer...model and influencer...adorable baby.
Sophie is more complicated as far as grandchildren are concerned I suppose.
Poor Faye.

Another "the boys" here too 🙋‍♀️

I have 2 daughters and always refer to them as 'the girls' when I am talking about them both🤔

CellophaneFlower · 07/02/2025 12:24

I did once have a neighbour with 1 son who called him "the boy" though and I thought that weird 😂

Lots of people do it

But somehow it irks me when Fizz does it

HurdyGurdy19 · 07/02/2025 18:03

I thought Yasmeen was very calm just standing in the crowd watch her next door neighbour's house burning. (She is between Platts' and Metcalfs' isn't she?) I'd have thought she'd have been showing visible signs of distress and worry about the fire spreading to her house.

And is Callum still under the Platts' garage/extension, or has he been found?

Anonym00se · 07/02/2025 18:11

He was found years ago. The Platts said “Ooh, a dead body under our extension, who’d have thunk it? I think he had a beef with Jason Grimshaw’s dead dad, who built our extension. He must have killed him and buried the body there!” And the police said “Oh, you’ve solved the murder case!” And no further questions were asked.

suburburban · 07/02/2025 18:12

My dds are called the girls

She is used to it.

Geoff tried to set light to her house with her in it.

So probably quite relaxed about all this

eggandonion · 07/02/2025 19:19

My friend had 2 daughters within 12 months, then a gap and dd3. She calls them the girls and Anna.

I have 3 boys, 2 close together but the oldest is 16 years older than middle child. "The boys" never applies to him 😂

I'm now at that age that when I refer to the younger ones I always go through all 3 names before I get to the right one... and sometimes the dogs too 🙈

JellyBeanFactory · 07/02/2025 19:40

@CellophaneFlower I find "oi you" works for two legged and four legged - it's easier! 🤣

😂

Sometimes I go through a few names then just say "oh, whatever your name is" 🙈 Really makes me cringe though, going through the names as I remember my nan doing exactly the same 😳

GrandTheftWalrus · 07/02/2025 20:14

I have 2 dds but they are "the weans"

TheodoraCrumpet · 07/02/2025 20:57

Mine are weans too, one of each, or the kids, depending on who I'm talking to. The older wean is over 30. If there's a dog in the house, that's another name to add to the list before I get to the right one.
Football on Friday nights should be outlawed. Rugby too. Cut it out, ITV. Friday is the one night I have the exclusive use of the remote, and this kind of caper is very undermining.

strugglingwithlife · 07/02/2025 21:04

I remember my nana going through all of the names of her kids and grandkids before saying the right one, bless her lol

My Nana did the same thing! My sister and I were "the wee one and the big one."

zanahoria · 07/02/2025 22:35

Fiz and Sal before always seems to overemphasize 'the girls' and say it repeatedly. It just sounds strange, I have never heard anyone say it that way IRL

Shellingbynight · 08/02/2025 08:19

Yes it was always more 'the guurrrls' from Sal, and Fizz has copied it.

My nan would go through her sisters' names before getting to mine or my mother's 😆

eggandonion · 08/02/2025 16:53

My mil has lots of grandchildren and great grandchildren . The only name she gets first time is my dil.

JellyBeanFactory · 09/02/2025 22:31

Spoiler warning - ITV have a trailer with what's coming up playing out. Just put ITV on ready for superbowl and I now know what this week's shenanigans will be...

HurdyGurdy19 · 10/02/2025 13:19

Thanks for the warning @JellyBeanFactory

That's so annoying. It's hard enough to avoid spoilers without ITV slamming them right in our faces.
