The Traitors #9 - 'why am I still here?'

witchycat2 · 23/01/2025 08:31

Just two episodes to go until we find out who will be victorious - the traitors or the faithfuls.

Will Alexander save the faithfuls?

Will Charlotte lead Freddie like a lamb to the slaughter?

Who will feel Leanne's wrath tonight?

Will Frankie cry at the banishment?

Not long until we find out!

They will consider the possibility that Freddie was recruited after Minah was banished with the sole purpose of being thrown under the bus. I don’t think they believed there were 3 remaining traitors before Minah’s banishment. Charlotte has a huge task to convince them after Freddie voted for her.

Question will be how many they want to keep in the game at the end. Could they still decide Alexander is a traitor so there are fewer to split the cash?

Sadly I can't see Alexander being in at the end. I think Leanne and Jake will win - they will banish Frankie to be on the safe side as Charlotte wont confirm she's a traitor when banished so they don't know if Frankie is telling the truth or a traitor herself. They've both had question marks against Alexander so they'll banish him just incase.

This sweet has ruined the game I think. It would have been better if the seer came earlier in the game and no one knew who’d had the power. Now it’s just impossible for Charlotte to win so it’s all over. Rubbish.

It's not impossible. The others could believe her over Frankie

I feel sorry for Frankie - she's won and it's a double-edged sword.

Yes she and Charlotte could both be banished as a result

I haven’t rtft so apologies if I’m repeating other people.

Claudia made me laugh out loud with her comment about Alexander being like a pony. It was so unexpected. I think she’s hilarious.

How on earth did Claudia manage not to give anything away in her face when talking Frankie through the four portraits?!

Poor Frankie looked like she was going to collapse/ have some sort of breakdown at several points in the episode 😯

I loved it when Frankie said ‘ oh Freddie!’ at the round table. It was so like a mother being exasperated with a rather hapless son (Has anyone ever wondered if he is her son? ) ( only joking!!)

This is such unforgettable television! How will we cope next week 😨

The first few episodes of The Traitors US drop on iplayer tomorrow (yes I know it's not usually as good as the UK version but it will help during the mourning period)

The only way I can see Alexander being in at the end is:

They banish Charlotte first
Alexander convinces Frankie to vote for Leanne. Leanne votes for Alexander, Jake votes for Frankie so Leanne is out
Then they either end the game or Alexander and Frankie vote Jake out (unlikely) or Alexander and Jake vote Frankie out (also unlikely as Alexander trusts Frankie)

I think Jake’s definitely going to be one of the winners

I’ve been watching the NZ series alongside this and struck by the difference in how people play. I think our future UK series would benefit from more strategic and intelligent players like Alexander.

I read somewhere, sorry no idea where probably here, that there’s a UK celebrity series in the making and there’s a few high profile people interested. I’d like casting similar to comedy panel shows, like Taskmaster or Would I Lie To You.

Like David or Victoria Mitchell - perhaps they’ll keep their relationship secret?

Emma Thompson

Stephen Mangan

Some UK pops stars who are popular at the moment but I wouldn’t know any

No one who only known off instagram or tik tok!

Rose Matafeo bang on saying this years group has been all about the vibes.

Do we think it’s something about the casting that’s made them go for vibe rather than evidence? Like they’ve cast a certain type of person? Or is it the diluted missions. Or a natural progression of it being the third series and Harry screwing over Molly who completely trusted him last year.

I think it is something about a large part of society generally at the moment! People seem more ready to judge everything according to vibes rather than facts.

PlumpHobbit · 23/01/2025 22:40

If I got the seer power I think I'd ask one of the under the radars, the ones under suspicion are likely to be banished anyway

I'd then sit quietly on it, try and get the others banished (more money and cover more bases)

Then get to just me and the traitor and one i was as certain I could be at the end and then get the traitor out

RainbowSnake · 23/01/2025 22:41

Snowmanscarf · 23/01/2025 22:33

But has Leanne clocked Charlotte…?

I think so. She picked up on Freddie voting for her.

missbeehive5 · 23/01/2025 22:42

I agree it will end with Leanne and Jake. Too much doubt surrounding Frankie over the whole seer thing which is very unfortunate for her given that it was meant to be a prize. Charlotte will battle and they may believe her over Frankie but i think it will be too much of a risk for them to keep her in after a direct accusation of her being a traitor. Alexander will go too as they are both so unsure on him.

It would almost have made it more interesting if she had picked a faithful to go in.

Mooosewoman · 23/01/2025 22:42

I soooo don’t want Charlotte to win.

Populism and a drop in critical thinking education and skills is a society thing I agree - but they had 300,000 people apply so I’m sure could have targeted a certain type of person.

Plus I think some were approached, so who knows how many came through the “formal” application process (I suspect purple hair Alex may have done)

RebeccaDecember · 23/01/2025 22:45

Maybe it would have been better if the Seer power was the option to switch sides before the final, if they wanted to.

witchycat2 · 23/01/2025 22:46

I recall reading (possibly on this thread) that the production team specially went out to find a priest

No, I don't think so.

She mentioned that Frankie picked Charlotte because Freddie picked her.

I was wondering that. With Charlotte and Frankie looking so good in the slo mo drama scenes and in the chair solo scenes, Alex wasn’t as well acted and wonder if that’s why he featured less.

kindlyensure · 23/01/2025 22:47

Urgh, I'm so disappointed now. I was really looking forward to the final tomorrow after yesterday's episode which I thought showed some real tactics and thought.

But this whole Seer thing feels like a massive con. You can't present this 'massive huge' twist, build it up and then say, oh, but btw, not til after the round table...what?! What's the point of one person playing then!? What a damp squib. And they kind of all went, oh, OK. So obviously they knew that was going to happen.

It's taken me straight out of the game. It's like they lost faith in the game so stuck a massive 'twist' in, but then kind of didn't trust the process.

I know the whole shebang is edited, filmed and re-filmed but mostly they hide the strings pretty well. This was badly done, producers. Badly done.

Dragonflies2012 · 23/01/2025 22:46

They will definitely start to question why he put Charlotte's name, especially when Frankie inevitably finds out the truth!

I can see how vibes leads the way in the castle when we can’t keep track of what we heard where about the series out in real life!

PlumpHobbit · 23/01/2025 22:48

Oh Freddie Freddie Freddie you have just well and truly cooked your goose with that Minah lie that she told you in the bar when she'd been banished at that point!

If I was him I'd have gone down the "perhaps the traitors went for the perfect double bluff and it was one of the group of 3 Leanne told"

Charlotte has got very lucky there it could have backfired badly anyone if she'd done that to Alexander i think he'd have successfully got the heat onto her

KhakiShaker · 23/01/2025 22:48

witchycat2 · 23/01/2025 22:26

Wilf is like Charlotte - too greedy.
They both wanted the pot all to themselves.

Wilf would have won 50% of the pot if he'd recruited Hannah. Instead he recruited Kieran to throw him under the bus, it backfired and he got 0% of the pot.

I liked Wilf as a player, he played the best game until he recruited Kieran who very nearly broke the rules to reveal him!
