I agree the boots are a bit of a mystery. They are presumably saying something about Elaine's character - she's tough despite the dainty chemise on the upper half? No idea!

I like Elaine's tops , but those boots are just horrible.

The best thing about Elaine’s tops is when she reaches into them and takes her mobile out. I don’t know if the phone is meant to be held in her bra or what but it always makes me laugh.

What has been bothering me is..not sure if I’ve missed it but has anyone offered an explanation as to why Carol has not reappeared to support her daughter?? And now she has another daughter who has confessed to murder but has disappeared of the face of the earth.

Even if Jack just said in passing oh I called Carol but she’s ill/not in the country/too overwhelmed with it all or some other excuse…

Carol not popping up is strange.
Maybe the actress couldn't do it ( or want to!)

Lindsay Coulson is now in Waterloo Road, but I agree it’s strange Carol is never mentioned.

She's in EastEnders Graveland. Characters who should be mentioned but aren't. I always figure the actor/actress has pissed off management and this is just a way of making that point that they will never ever be welcome to return.

Glad that Nige is back but since his career in Bristol as a doctor ended I guess Nige has been at a loose end. Shame old Nige can't remember any of it. He was well loved there too, bumbling around in bad shirts and jumpers.

Carol was mentioned as not being able to attend the trial as was Robbie (by Jack I think). There was then discussion about why Bianca was not contactable.

I forgot about Robbie lol. I can’t really remember what happened to him. Vaguely recall he went to live in India with his girlfriend and child at one point but he came back.

Lindsay Coulson was/is a really good actress. Her dramatic scenes with Bianca back in the day were always epic.

Bianca's mum was a bit of a misery , but she was played well and honestly and has had some good scenes in the past with David wicks and her children.
It's sad she can't support Sonia , I'm sure she would have sniffed out Reiss ages ago tbh.

This will be so tense and tough to watch - I am hoping Eastenders does it well . I don't think there will be any heart warming epiphanies from Phils childhood .

There have been several mentions over the years of Erics cruelty to Phil , maybe because he was the eldest and Sam was the favourite . Eric couldn't see any way but to insist his sons be a man

The story Phil told Sharon about the Christmas and the toy train was so sad , and gives an insight into why Phil was what he was like .Protecting Grant and being fiercely loyal to Peggy and Sam.

They didn't go down the Christmas Ghosts of Past/Present/Future storyline, maybe that was too soon. But he is building up to a mega breakdown..

Phil also made a mention of it on his recent birthday, when Nigel said he remembered a birthday party back when they were teenagers.
Phil said Nige got drunk on Peggy's gin and Nigel threw up down the back of the sofa and his "old man took a belt to him" 😢
Nigel then went on to say "Some of my happiest memories were from back then"
which goes to show everyone has different perspectives, Nige doesn't seem to have had a happy childhood either😔

I'm very fond of Phil. I hope the scenes do him justice.

The 1970s throwback episode showed how much Phil hated his dad because of the way he treated Peggy. There was a scene where he beat Eric up after he assaulted Peggy, Phil was very protective of her. But violence begets violence and sadly Phil has elements of his dad. He’s a product of his time. Domestic violence was normalised when he would have been a young man growing up and a man giving his wife a good slap if she stepped out of line was accepted.

I recall Peggy was unsympathetic to Lisa when she was being abused by Phil and basically said suck it up. So women of that era were conditioned into accepting it too.

Also meant to say this SL with Phil’s mental health is really good because, unusually for EE, it’s been a slow burn. Phil has been out of sorts since the middle of last year. Usually on EE characters develop life changing illness or problems overnight (and the illness/problem is also quickly resolved and never mentioned again)

I agree this should be really good. I enjoyed the flashback episode, I thought it was well done.

I like the slow build up and it seems absolutely right for Phil. Denise's psychosis last year was all a bit too quickly resolved.

As they are having a psychosis storyline I wonder why they decided to pile dementia onto Nigel as well, but maybe it will become clear.

Denise's psychosis was quite unrealistic. It went away as quickly as it started. She was seen and hospitalised immediately which seems unlikely. Then there was no talk of follow up appointments or anything after she came home.

A bit like her her poverty storyline where she was in a food bank one day and then fine with no money problems a short time later😐

Didn't Denise also have a (brief) alcohol problem a few years ago? She has certainly had an exciting and varied life.

Diane Parish is one of the stronger actors in the cast so I wish they’d give her stories that are better developed than the ones she’s had over the last five years or so. I hoped we’d see Denise continuing her education after she got her GCSE, but nope.

Yes. Denise has had lots of different storylines involving abusive men as well as addiction, poverty ( short lived ) and having Raymond with Phil. Lucas put her through hell and being part of the six brought on her mental health woes.
She is a good character, but she's been through a lot. She seemed happy with Jack at first before that went wrong

I've mentioned this before, but what about Bex/Becs? Surely her daughter would have been there for the trail? I may have missed it, but I haven't even heard her being mentioned.
