So many women pregnant, is there something in the water?
Wonder if they'll have a son or a daughter?
Joel's story lingers on, that's really too bad.
And now we have to put up with his mum and his dad.

Lauren's gonna do time, I wonder how long.
I guess she deserves it as she has done wrong.
Gail's gonna leave soon, after 50 whole years.
It'll be such a shame, there will many tears!

Bethany's putting on a brave face, though she's had a tough ride.
Daniel's still boring, and Kit's always snide.
Daisy's always got a snooty little pout.
And looks like she might just knock someone out..

Toyah and Nick have been secretly smooching.
Leanne knows all about it though, as she's always mooching.
Debbie's so funny, and Eileen's so droll
And Roy, a real favourite, is one of the best characters of all

Carla and Swain are getting quite close.
Not such a secret now, and nearly everyone knows.
Mason the baddie has gone quite good.
And Betsy always acts like she's Queen of the Hood!

Not much more to review for now.
But it's happy new year to us all.
I wonder how the Corrie cast will celebrate?
I bet they will have a ball. Grin

Happy new year everyone. Have a cracking 2025! 😄

I feel that it’s quite insulting to people that have Carla’s illness. She looks so well, if they go down this route, they need to do it authentically.

CellophaneFlower · 21/01/2025 19:34

zanahoria · 21/01/2025 19:28

I did not realise it was actually her, thought it was just someone with the same hair do

😂 I recognised her voice, or perhaps just the scouse accent so looked more closely.

Always wondered what happened to them all, as bar a few I haven't seen many since it finished.

Tbf I think some people can live quite normal lives on dialysis for quite a while. Some work for example whilst going through it.

MonickerMonica · 20/01/2025 23:48

So Carla is now at home and has a dialysis machine in the bedroom. I thought kidney dialysis had to be done in hospital. Anyone here who knows about these things?

Yes - my friend's mum does her dialysis at home. I was astonished when she told me they were going on a training course for it.

She's doing quite well on it.

zanahoria · 21/01/2025 19:50

Apparently a Kidney Care UK is complaining about the Carla plot

HurdyGurdy19 · 21/01/2025 19:57

I really hope that when the Argos sponsorship deal ends, Kleenex steps in and takes over. At least the product placement should calm the sniffers down.

Just so much sniffing whenever someone is crying. Does Dev not sell tissues? The Kabun? Freshco? Or even serviettes from the kebab place would do.

Hardly two minutes into last night's episode and we were treated to Lauren sniffing and snotting.

In real life, I don't know anyone who sniffs like that when they're tearful.

NCTDN · 21/01/2025 21:14

@CellophaneFlower its on stv player Wink

WiddlinDiddlin · 21/01/2025 21:24

Mmm... I know a couple of people on home dialysis and you don't get to do that within a few days of being diagnosed! Its something you go on a training course for, after generally months of hospital dialysis, at first as an in-patient, then as an out-patient, once they know you're pretty stable, managing diet and fluid intake etc etc.

nildesparandum · 21/01/2025 21:32

I think I have said this before on here, when Carla had her first kidney transplant a few years ago now, she never looked ill before it.Then she was out of hospital almost the same day and straight into the Rovers drinking alcohol.
No wonder it failed again.
Tracey had a transplant a long time ago, or have the writers forgotten?

MonickerMonica · 21/01/2025 21:45

@WiddlinDiddlin

Thanks for clearing that up. I really thought it was a hospital only procedure but as you say it's totally unrealistic never mind dangerous to send a patient home with the dialysis equipment and be expected to plug it in and away you go 🙄

It's not exactly an Xbox is it 🫤. So we should be seeing evidence of a specialist nurse coming to Carla's flat and supervising her. Ok maybe not 🙄

Nikki Shadwick is looking quite good 25 years on.

AmusedMaker · 22/01/2025 07:15

I know he’s not that popular on here but I really like Daniel.

Haha, it's almost as if you've agonised all night over this and felt the need to confess first thing 😂

My confession is I don't hate Lauren 🙈 I think she deserves a break and I most definitely would be bawling all the time if I was her too. Every time she gets a glimmer of happiness and we see a smile, the writers throw something else at her.

I just want her to live a lovely little life with Max and Frankie ❤️

CellophaneFlower · 22/01/2025 07:28

Well not a little life... a long one. God I don't want to be giving them ideas about killing her off 😱

How can anyone forget Samir's kidney?

They seem to constantly add more misery, even in the court scenes they are piling more stuff on in the back story.

And how many times has Frankie been ill now?

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 22/01/2025 07:48

Daniel looked over the moon when Daisy said she had a feeling she’s having a girl. I hope it turns out to be his baby and they reunite. I miss Daniel and Daisy together

eggandonion · 22/01/2025 08:22

Deirdre and Samir was a good storyline, but ended up in grief. But the kidney saved Tracyluv. It would be total misery nowadays.

familyissues12345 · 22/01/2025 08:45

Yes I can't stand Lauren's sniffling! The other day she was in court, they turned to her and she actually had snot coming out of her nose Envy

zanahoria · 22/01/2025 10:36

I like Daisy but I do not think they have used her too well. She does not seem to be able to stay with anyone without splitting up with them then getting back together every other week and the rivalry with Bethany is beyond tedious.

WiddlinDiddlin · 22/01/2025 12:38

@MonickerMonica Mm!

Setting the machine up for dialysis means a lot of faff in some cases (if it has to prep dialysate first, which takes 6 or 7 hours for it to do, before you plug yourself in), min half an hour in others... and you would learn to do that yourself and then you might teach other family members. Not have your new missus just pop to the bedroom then declare its all sorted minutes later!

CellophaneFlower · 22/01/2025 12:46

Perhaps Dr Badass popped in to give them a quick rundown?!

MonickerMonica · 22/01/2025 12:59

@WiddlinDiddlin

Yes exactly! If they had included a scene where Carla explained to Lisa that she had to satisfy the medics that she understood how to use the machine etc etc then it would've been so much more believable. Also as you say any other family members/partners would also need to be fully aware and capable too.

So are we to get a bedroom scene with the full dialysis procedure (rather than the two of them staring with lusty bug eyes at each other 🙄 )

I wouldn't bet on it.

Roryno · 22/01/2025 13:07

I’d like Lauren and Max to have a calmer life together- they’ve grown up together and been through a lot. It was looking like they might, then they got this plot swerve where they killed Joel. Such a shame, it’s all got very silly. And they threw in Joel’s nutty parents too. (Joel’s mum’s facial expressions are chilling though. He definitely got his psycho genes from her!)

Shellingbynight · 22/01/2025 13:27

They have completely wrung everything out of Lauren, and I never liked her much anyway so her going to jail is fine with me. I'm afraid I can't stand Max either, the sooner this storyline is over the better!

They did a fairly good job on Paul's storyline, but they don't seem remotely interested in Carla's kidney except as a way of introducing Rob and yet more prison scenes.
