The call the midwife christmas special is on bbc 1 in 2 parts. The first part will be shown on christmas day at 20:00. The second part will be shown at 19:30 on boxing day. Series 14 will start on 5th January. I am suprised that it has not been renamed as the doctor Turner show.

They're running out of stories to centre the nuns in now as society got more secular and poplar got larger. It's probably quite close to how medicine became so doctor and hospital led over community nursing.

How old is Trixie supposed to be now? Would she not have wanted to try and have a baby with her husband? I feel like last series passed me by a bit, did she ever say anything about wanting to expand their family?

Obviously not a requirement but it seems slightly unusual for society at the time/their social class. Then again Matthew did lose his first wife shortly after their baby was born.

Either that or he will return in a few episodes to say his marriage is over and he quite fancies Rosalind

In my head The first series was set in 1947-1950ish. It's now 1979, so Trixie could be 40ish

Google says Trixie was supposed to have been born in 1935 (maybe based on book Trixie) which would make her 35 in this series (and 22 in the first series)

Ah, at least they've done something definite about it.
