Gregg Wallace steps away from MasterChef after allegations by Kirsty Wark www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2024/nov/28/gregg-wallace-steps-away-from-masterchef-after-allegations-of-misconduct

Oh Greggles what have you done!

Didn't Anna Haugh co-present Masterchef for a while or have I made that up? A chef who actually knows what they're talking about would be good IMO.

She did. She stood in for Monica one series and was great. She can come back.

FaceLikeACrackedScreen · 29/11/2024 17:40

Mary’s past it. I find Prue annoying too!

Monica is great. Also quite like the wine person on Saturday kitchen but can’t remember her name.

Tom PB too, I can’t see him doing it mind you.

Ineedwinenow · 29/11/2024 17:52

Ainsley Harriet would be my choice. He came on an episode to set a task last series and he was really great with the contestants, he always comes across a good, decent bloke in everything I've watched him in over the years and I think he would be a fair judge/presenter and he's hilarious to boot

SalsaLights · 29/11/2024 18:04

Really hope it's the end of Gregg. His insistence on putting his own assessments at the same level as actual qualified Michelin-starred chefs was just cringe.

One of my wider friendship circle has dealt with him through work. He was not a fan.

Glasgowgal200 · 29/11/2024 18:06

And jermaine jenas

Avatartar · 29/11/2024 09:26

Let’s vote Penny Lancaster into the role. She’s glamorous but very down to earth and quite funny too, I think she’d be fab

Oh yes, that would be such a good 'fuck you' to Greg after Rod's message 😄

I liked Anna Haugh too, she'd be good.

stripeyshutters · 29/11/2024 18:22

Why has this all been kept quiet? For example why did Rod not say anything before?

Quacksalver · 29/11/2024 18:33

Firmly agree with bringing back Lloyd Grossman. The whole vibe was way cooler back then. Greg's gurning and slurping has always made me feel ill, then for some reason I made up an entire fantasy scenario in my head where John and Greg were shagging, with John being a super-critical top to Gre's simpering bottom. I couldn't watch the show after that.

And why have I clicked on so many pictures of technicolour topless Greg? I feel helpless against the urge to be horrified!

Vic and Bob captured the slightly weird and menacing atmosphere of the Lloyd Grossman days here

Mary Berry can't cook anything these days, she just pours bowls into other bowls. She doesn't cut anything or put things in ovens because she can't manage it any more.

She wouldn’t need to cook or cut though for Gregg’s role. I like her but don’t think it’s the right vibe for her. She suits a country kitchen or baking tent.

Davros · 29/11/2024 18:42

And she's over 80

LittleMonks11 · 29/11/2024 08:24

Monica does Masterchef the Professionals already plus I think she still runs her own business.

I think it's a sidekick role so possibly won't be a professional chef.

Agree.

I love Monica but firstly she does the professionals and secondly I am going to go against those who complain Gregg had no place as he “knew nothing” ( the “ who was he to even comment?” protestors) and say I actually quite like the fact Gregg gave the kind of “forgetting the technique, is it actually yummy” verdict. And his greed was kind of useful for that role. For that reason I think Tom P-B would be good. I get that vibe from him - as though if it tastes great he isn’t going to trip over the fact the ingredients were added in the wrong order. Again, I suppose the greedy factor. It’s good on a cooking programme. Marcus is nice, and talented, but always seems a little aloof when it comes to actually scarfing the stuff down. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen the fork go to his mouth. It’s like he absorbs it through his skin pores then gives a verdict. Tom P-B would load up a forkful.

MoonWoman69 · 29/11/2024 19:00

@Quacksalver Oh God, I loved Vic and Bob doing that!!! Gliding across the kitchen with knife and fork index fingers!!! Hysterical! Thanks for the memory! 🤣

I’ve been wondering about this too because it’s not like either him or Penny had anything to lose by speaking out against Gregg.

my guess is that she didn’t want to make a fuss, she came across as a very kind, down to earth woman during the show.

but maybe now that it’s out, she said ‘fuck it, run with it’.

FaceLikeACrackedScreen · 29/11/2024 20:16

Paul Hollywood gives of creepy vibes, definitely not him for me, I bet he’s another scandal in waiting.

Words · 29/11/2024 20:21

Si King! Perfect

TimeForATerf · 29/11/2024 20:28

Has no one mentioned Angela Hartnett?

I bloody love her, she’s a great cook, Michelin starred, good sense of humour, and a woman for a change.

I'm ok to keep John Torode, he could smile a bit more, but maybe he will now Greg(g)’s gone.

Words · 29/11/2024 20:29

Another great suggestion

They'll probably end up getting Lisa Faulkner to do her bloody irritating 'look at us we're a celebrity couple' double act with Torode.

They'll probably end up getting Lisa Faulkner to do her bloody irritating 'look at us we're a celebrity couple' double act with Torode.

I think that would be a bit tasteless given the way her comments about Gregg have been tied up with his departure wouldn’t it? I kind of thought the same about Rod Stewart’s comments and Penny L.

Nooooooooooo! Please, please no!

MoonWoman69 · 29/11/2024 23:54

Definitely not Lisa Faulkner... Smug beyond belief! 🤣

Babymamamama · 30/11/2024 00:14

Just scrap the whole thing. So tedious .... the bbc never seem to let anyone go (especially their fave - middle aged white men, yawn) unless some scandal unfolds.

Unskilledwork · 30/11/2024 00:24

Mary B is too old bless her

SnowFrogJelly · 30/11/2024 01:19

Grace would be great Grin

GogAndMagog · 30/11/2024 01:59

Let's face it, most men in the media are on a long leash with their predatory antics.

I'm not surprised to hear about any of them. Some hiding in plain sight. Some just so powerful nobody can question. Until they do.
Prince Andrew got away with it, after all.
