Gregg Wallace steps away from MasterChef after allegations by Kirsty Wark www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2024/nov/28/gregg-wallace-steps-away-from-masterchef-after-allegations-of-misconduct

Oh Greggles what have you done!

It's in need of a refresh. I'd like to see Nadiyah Hussein and Tom K.

Men working for or with the BBC need to start thinking before they open their mouths/arms/trousers. Jimmy Savile, Huw Edwards, Russell Brand, may be Giovanni Pernice. Now Gregg Wallace.

Do not put Giovanni into the same category as paedophiles and rapists. That is outrageous.

This Morning massively improved once PS finally got booted off

We won't even notice GW has gone so long as they get a decent replacement

Monica is the obvious choice she's fab

Monica does Masterchef the Professionals already plus I think she still runs her own business.

I think it's a sidekick role so possibly won't be a professional chef.

I don’t think it’ll end but from the accusations, it’s clear that everything he ever said/did was in front of everyone in the set.

so whoever deals with these issues at the BBC should ask why he’s been allowed to behave like this all these years. It’s not like the show depended on him.

I think that freelance workers were afraid to complain about him in case they were branded troublemakers and didn't get any more work from the Beeb.

Semiramide · 29/11/2024 08:35

Summing up…..

everyone is glad that Gregg is gone at long last.

Grace is a bit Marmite, but many would like Monica to take over.

Monica was recently forced to close her restaurant, so she may be available… 😎

Rebootnecessary · 29/11/2024 08:40

Didn't Anna Haugh co-present Masterchef for a while or have I made that up? A chef who actually knows what they're talking about would be good IMO.

CandleStub · 29/11/2024 08:44

Greg was always a pointless ignoramus so I don’t think they need a food expert- could be anyone.

Mel Giedroyc would be good (not suggesting Mel is a pointless ignoramus, only that she’s not a pro chef).

alwaysonadiet1 · 29/11/2024 09:01

I want to know what he said or did to Penny Lancaster...

Isatis · 29/11/2024 09:13

TitsInAbsentia · 28/11/2024 20:49

I never used to like Grace Dent but either she has mellowed with age or I have! That said I'm not sure she's quite right for a presenting role. DH said he thought Monica Galetti could be good.

I can't see Monica standing by and looking admiring at John Torode's cooking, as she's better than he is anyway.

Davros · 29/11/2024 09:24

@ObieJoyful yes, I believe that is a real quote from Sir Rod 👏
Please, not Nadia or Tom K. Two examples of wheeling out the same people all the time. They get enough work from the Beeb. And I don't like either of them so they must take that into account

Avatartar · 29/11/2024 09:26

Let’s vote Penny Lancaster into the role. She’s glamorous but very down to earth and quite funny too, I think she’d be fab

cuddlekitten · 29/11/2024 10:27

I just don't understand why all these famous men personalities can't behave themselves. Makes me sad.

It’s because they’re put on a pedestal, considered to be untouchable by their employer and their massive egos make them think they can do whatever they like. They’re often able to squash down anyone who dares to confront them and they are ruthless.

Yes i completely agree. I think there is now a toxic culture with men in high up positions. I wonder if it is the same in working cultures which aren't in the spotlight? For example your typical business environment. I for one haven't been subject to anything like that at work but it must happen.

ThreeB · 29/11/2024 11:22

It's about time that the UK version followed all the other versions in format and I'd love to see the Beeb taking this as the opportunity to do so. The current format doesn't always see the best chefs going through from each round and that can be really disappointing

3 judges, 2 of whom should be chefs and 1 critic. Some of the chefs who have appeared on Great British Menu would be really good

bigkidatheart · 29/11/2024 11:30

Sure John can host with someone else - although show could do with an overhaul and maybe get rid of John too

I like Marcus, keep Marcus ❤

AtomHeartMotherOfGod · 29/11/2024 11:34

OMG I love Masterchef and would be gutted if it ended. Surely they'd just get a new presenter?

Jo Brand 😍 An Extra Slice would suffer, but I don't know how much the analysis programmes get watched anyway.

MoonWoman69 · 29/11/2024 11:48

When Saturday Kitchen first started and my mum was still alive, we both used to say he was an absolute creep. And we couldn't understand how he got away with what he did! He leched over the female guests and many times they looked really uncomfortable. Everything that came out of his mouth was a double entendre. If a male guest was on, he was prickly, snipy and looked bored most of the time. It was really uncomfortable watching!
Where the hell he came from, to be all over the tv (apart from a greengrocers shop!) I have no idea! He's revolting and I'll be glad to see the back of him! They should have been onto him years ago, you can see what sort of man he is, it oozes out of every pore!

AtomHeartMotherOfGod · 29/11/2024 11:50

Mel Giedroyc would be amazing, that's true.

I love Marcus, merely because he's so frickin' discerning. Somehow, having that 2* standard behind any approbation or disapprobation really makes you feel the force of it 😂 I don't mind that he's comes across 'cold' - it makes the warmth so much more satisfying, and he has a demeanour that can cut down arrogance at a stroke. That's sadly sometimes necessary.

Mary Berry can't cook anything these days, she just pours bowls into other bowls. She doesn't cut anything or put things in ovens because she can't manage it any more.

She wouldn't have to do any of that to be a judge - she would just need to taste the food and give her opinion.

Mary brought class to Bake Off.. The programmes with her, Sue and Mel shine above the current format.. I admire her, Sue and Mel's decision to not 'follow the dough' to Channel 4

That ghastly Paul Hollywood dominates that show with his dreadful bias of the handshakes and him being the one the contestants want to please. Prue Leith might as well not be there at all.

MoonWoman69 · 29/11/2024 16:45

I think Mel Giedroyc would be an awful choice. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love her in some things and when her and Sue left Bake Off, that's when I stopped watching. She's just too comedy and I don't think she'd be a good fit for Masterchef.
Personally, I'd like to see Si King take the job, he'd be good on there. He admits he's not a chef, but that's not what's needed anyway. He knows food (he could make more of an informed choice than Wallace ever did!) He'd be perfect now that he's lost lovely Dave.

FaceLikeACrackedScreen · 29/11/2024 16:55

I don’t think it will be the end of the show. Glad he’s gone. I can’t stand Grace though😶.

Karatema · 29/11/2024 17:02

I hope they replace them both! As long as the replacement isn't that awful William bloke.

She might as far as I'm concerned! I absolutely have a ton of respect for Prue. She rescues it for me as I can't stand Paul.
