I think I've reached the end of my Greys Anatomy journey....

I have just watched this week's episode. I will not put specific details in but inevitably, there is a spoiler of sorts due to the nature of my complaint. Fair warning.

I am afraid I just don't think I can suspend disbelief any further. It has got to the point where it seems to me that if you choose to work at this hospital you are an absolute idiot because your chances of being attacked/getting some terrible disease/ being in an awful accident are so high, it's clearly cursed.

I appreciate that this is a show and they need to add drama and that anyone who thinks it's realistic is a fool.... but there are plenty of ways to add drama without having to have multiple characters die or almost die every second season. It's just too much for me. It feels like lazy writing. "Oh, what shall we do to make it exciting? Oh, I know, let's have someone get shot, or taken hostage, or in a terrible car accident, or get a very rare cancer....."

I don't know how it's still going, I gave up years ago, it's just totally unbelievable and fairly silly. Such a shame as the first seasons were amazing

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 29/11/2024 22:25

I was once a Die Hard fan

It was MY show

I can't remember which series I quit on but it was quite a while ago now. It just became completely ridiculous

magicstar1 · 29/11/2024 22:29

I don’t blame you at all. I gave up about 4 seasons ago…just couldn't take any more.

IKEAJesus · 29/11/2024 22:30

I hadn’t realised it was still going. I suppose there’s only so many storylines you can use, so not surprising if there is some duplication of calamities.

MothToAnInferno · 29/11/2024 22:31

I quit during the season when Meredith had her covid coma, it just wasnt hitting the spot anymore.

JemOfAWoman · 29/11/2024 22:35

Was a massive fan but as soon as that narcissist Non Binary doctor jumped on Amelia I lost the will to live!

Maarva · 29/11/2024 22:35

I used to love it but gave up on the covid season. I think it started to go downhill after. Christina left. Her and Meredith’s relationship was so central to the show.

DramaAlpaca · 29/11/2024 22:38

I used to love Grays but gave up on it years ago. I can't remember what specifically annoyed me at the time, but I'd had enough of the silly drama and haven't watched it since.

severyyhv · 29/11/2024 22:38

I loved it until around season 12. It was ok until season 15. Completely dire from 16-19. Last season and the first half of this season are good, not as good as the early days but the best in about a decade.

Same. Very tedious beach scenes.

Although I would work there, they have great childcare.

Talulahalula · 29/11/2024 22:41

I also gave up during the covid season although I feel it went downhill when Christina left.

ComeOnThenFanny · 29/11/2024 22:42

I gave up a couple of seasons ago, and I had to force myself to watch for a while before that! I hate all the new people, the old people that are left are the ones I can't stand, and the storylines are ridiculous. It used to be so good!

Tiddlywinkly · 29/11/2024 22:47

I quit after Christina left. Wasn't the same.

Triffid1 · 29/11/2024 23:14

We are about half way through this season and we havr had character with sister with cancer, cr accident, coma, death of sister, character in robbery with a gun shot, every woman almost dying..... completely ridiculous.

Yes agree it was never the same without Yang. Couldn't have cared less about McDreamy. 🙈

I gave up in 2020, but before the covid episodes. I was on maternity leave, stopped midway through an episode and never went back. I figured if I couldn't be bothered to watch it during a lockdown maternity leave I was definitely done! I've rewatched the early years since though and enjoyed them.

MumOfOneAllAlone · 30/11/2024 12:40

Ugh I stopped watching around merediths coma as well - hasn't she had many?? 🙄🙄

Like a lot of you, I was a hard-core greys fan. Can't believe it's still going, such a cash grab

I also find the preaching about the current issues boring 😴 - it's like, no maga supporter is watching greys anatomy so why are you preaching to the converted?

2110l · 30/11/2024 12:45

It has disappeared up its own arse IMO

Roastiesarethebestbit · 30/11/2024 12:45

I’ve never seen it, but always thought it was a serious drama. Then very recently clips started appearing on my fb reel, and they were so ridiculous, like virgin birth storylines, I was surprised because I’d never realised Greys anatomy was so far fetched.

roundtable · 30/11/2024 12:52

I've tried to watch the first episode multiple times but had to stop as the actress that plays meredith immovable top lip distracted me and wound me up so much. I normally love that sort of show too. I'm watching New Amsterdam at the moment. Cheesy nonsense but I like it!

If you don't like that, she's also got the funniest walk 😄😄, I love her but i dunno why she walks like that

SofandaCox · 30/11/2024 12:57

I love greys anatomy and im still watching it while also rewatching from the beginning so the quality of the show is really stark as im currently watching season 4 and season 21 at the same time.

ER will always be the best medical drama. There is no topping it.

😄 I'm clearly too distracted by the lip to notice the walk!

I'm going to give it another viewing later. Although, I might regret it!

Ameliasvocalfry · 30/11/2024 13:09

I've watched it all to date and loved the early years but I've struggled through the latest season.
The constant virtue signalling and recycled storylines and are so tedious - it should have ended a long time ago.

The first 10 (🤭) seasons are actually worth watching, once you get into it, you'll be addicted

Then you'll be disappointed as it gets worse and else after that

InfoSecInTheCity · 30/11/2024 13:18

Not gotten round to watching any of this season yet, it kind of feels more like a chore to do now rather than something I'm wanting to do. It was around when Alex Karev was disappeared that I started to lose interest, it's just too preachy now. It feels like every episode is them giving a lesson on the worlds wrongs and how we should all be better.

Code Black is a good medical drama if anyone hasn't watched it, ER is obviously brilliant too.
