The 80s legal drama is reborn with a new lead as Matty plots to convince hirers they need an older woman for the job.

Brilliant septuagenarian Madeline "Matty" Matlock, who, after achieving success in her younger years, decides to rejoin the workforce at a prestigious law firm where she uses her unassuming demeanor and wily tactics to win cases and expose corruption from within.

A sparky new legal comedy drama starring Oscar-winner Kathy Bates, who is great as whip-smart, empathetic lawyer Madeline “Matty” Matlock

in this spin-off from the 80s classic. Matty left law 30 years ago, but now in her 70s, wants to practise again.

When she believes she is passed over for a role because of her age, Matty uses her wits to sneak into the firm, telling the hirers why being an older woman is useful: “Nobody sees us coming.”

But can she convince junior partner Olympia (Skye P Marshall)? Hollie Richardson

Matty is assigned to Olympia, a senior attorney and key rainmaker with a thirst for justice, while Olympia's ex-husband, Julian, the son of the head of the firm, is intrigued by Matty and her clever skills.

Matty works alongside the firm's younger associates the charismatic Billy and the uber ambitious Sarah as she endeavors to establish herself in her new high-stakes world.

No, I didn’t see it coming!!

I’m on episode 4 and my only complaint is that we’re not really getting to know the ex husband and his father much.

I absolutely love it, especially the twists at the end of the episodes. Kathy Bates is brilliant and the boy who plays her grandson is a natural! Watched episode 3 yesterday, it was so good and very topical in light of the G Wallace debacle as well. I record it at 2 am on Tuesday morning on Sky Witness.

WatchOutMissMarpleIsAbout · 12/12/2024 05:21

Really enjoying this. Invisible old lady like Miss Marple.

Blondeshavemorefun · 12/12/2024 08:26

Yah. I'm not on my own

I love this @Umanresources as clever Storylines and it's easy watching but entertaining

and also record it at 2am as was clashing with celeb so watch it 8ish

I think it's the son who is the one who they are after

Her boss seems too nice

As does father

unless they find out none of the 3 were involved but that's the whole plot why

Also father takes his dil side over son after saying , after what you did

We don't know why they are divorcing - whether he had an affair or something really bad

Blondeshavemorefun · 12/12/2024 12:13

There's no spoilers in it so far @lazymum99

Just appreciation it's a good series 😂

It’s still early days on the show, but my complaint is that we’re really not getting to know the son or father much.

to the point that we can’t either try and guess who it is, or really care.
