I think some of the individuals/couples have mistaken being on a reality entertainment show for a genuine attempt to match them with a life partner.

Watching the scales fall from their eyes is tragic.

If we make it to a second thread on this Mafs, purlease can we have
' the talking building'
in the new title?
It is a genius concept and I think historically a Mafs first !

It was someone upthread that called it that or words to that effect 🤣

It might have been Daps or bluetrews, I can’t remember now but it cracked me up when I read it

@usernother yes, there is a lot of 'going deep' chat, without any actual going deep - or not as far as I can see. To be honest, I'm not even really sure I know what the term means.

There's no way Beard is going to be able to do what the iexperts told him to because he thinks he knows best and he's got "king" energy. I think that is what he said about himself. I think he is probably a controlling narcissist, but I may be being harsh.

Doubleraspberry · 29/11/2024 09:53

I have to say the timescale on this is so short that it makes the whole thing feel even more farcical than normal. These people are having deep and meaningfuls after knowing each other a fortnight. I know the premise is that they have supposedly committed to a stranger, but to think that the entire experiment lasts about a month maximum makes it incredibly hard for anyone to take seriously.

Toothbrush man and partner can barely look at each other - they've known each other four days.

usernother · 29/11/2024 10:33

I wish they'd get John on MAFS UK. He'd have gone through the last shower on there like a bulldozer, and I'd imagine have been horrified at the calibre of people taking part.

In his defence Cara did say to Beard at the outset that she liked to be led by a man. It looks like she didn't mean it. Unless this was actually a coded sex thing of course.

Totally agree.

Although I initially thought this series would be a breath of fresh air after that shit show, but I'm finding it boring. We hardly see them doing anything except the talking hotel and overanalysing relationships that haven't even got off the ground.

For me, that level of introspection and counselling is for an established relationship that's become a bit rocky, not a meeting of strangers who may have absolutely no attraction to each other.

With regard to Kara saying she would like to be lead by a man, I often think those kind of remarks that get played back to us are shown somewhat out of context after the story moves in a contradictory direction. I imagine the directors extract responses to direct questions, rather than this kind of information being volunteered and it may be something as simple as wanting a mature character who can take responsibility. As an example, throughout our marriage I've had all the household and life admin chores, making sure all the bills are paid, keeping track, budgeting, sourcing and supervising any work on the house, booking holidays and everything around them, schooling and medical decisions and so on. There's a good reason for this and my DH more than pulls his weight, but occasionally I've been wearied of it all, like he has been with other stuff, and have thought I'd like a partner who would 'take charge' I certainly never meant to be the boss of me though 😀

TriangleLight · 29/11/2024 11:52

I think Nate came out of it really well and seems a lovely young man.

I like a man with a bit of oomph, but Beardie is just a tosser, and I would wager could not be relied upon in a crisis

MargoLivebetter · 29/11/2024 11:56

Fair point @TinselAngel , she did say that. I guess that there is being led and there is being told what to do and think. DP likes to lead. He loves to lead on holidays, outings, concerts and all of that kind of thing. That's fine with me, I let him crack on and feed in with my opinions on his leading proposals, depending on whether I want to be led in the direction he is suggesting. But it is a two way process and there is room for me to not be led, if that makes sense. He also doesn't try to lead me psychologically either!

Not sure I'm explaining myself very well but I think there is enjoying someone to lead a bit, without being told that you are on the lead. I think Beard wants Tall Blonde on the lead and doing things and saying things just how he wants them.

I don't think so in this case. She said it to him early on. Could have been on the wedding day, I can't remember.

no i find him misogynistic at times. telling them to put up with red flags.

OnlyinBlackandWhite · 29/11/2024 13:22

I thought it was weird of her to say she liked to be 'led' when he said he liked to lead, as I think he thought, great, I am a domineering type of a guy but it will work well here. He knows he is as he said that in his application video, he just doesn't want to change it.

OnlyinBlackandWhite · 29/11/2024 13:23

I think Cara and Beard are having sex, which is making them happier, but it won't save them.

Jesse and CJ only have their teeth in common!

dapsnotplimsolls · 29/11/2024 20:01

Here we go. Good luck to whoever gets Beirdo.

Italiangreyhound · 29/11/2024 20:05

CJ is determined to see things badly. She could say Jesse wanted to stay and she could text him!

Bluetrews25 · 29/11/2024 20:05

Mike needs a new barber
All his hair needs rethinking

dapsnotplimsolls · 29/11/2024 20:06

Does that beard want to curl?

Italiangreyhound · 29/11/2024 20:06

Partner swap seems like a recipe for disaster!

Villagetoraiseachild · 29/11/2024 20:07

The beard has got identity issues.

OnlyWhenILaugh · 29/11/2024 20:08

Mike does not like losing control of the relationship!

OnlyWhenILaugh · 29/11/2024 20:09

Poor Kara.

dapsnotplimsolls · 29/11/2024 20:09

Mike's being a bit bossy/sulky there!

Bluetrews25 · 29/11/2024 20:09

The beard wants to go back to the dirty old tramp it started on, sleeping rough on the streets of some grotty little town.

dapsnotplimsolls · 29/11/2024 20:10

How do we start a petition to Free The Beard?

Bluetrews25 · 29/11/2024 20:10

Shocker!!!😂
Edited - sorry, it would not let me quote 'Mike doesn't like losing control of the relationship' above
