Starting a thread for MAFS NZ.

I am watching season 1 of MAFS NZ at the same time.

I watched it years ago and cannot remember what happened!

Yes, I do need to get out more!

Just caught up. Wow, Neck Curtains is a bit insecure! He's all touchy feels and oblivious to Kara's feelings. And then, when srlhe says how she feels he's upset, doesn't believe her, tried to tell her that her FEELINGS are wrong 😡.

Then he says he's blindsided and it's an attack on his integrity. Mate, if you had integrity, you'd be supporting her and apologising and asking what you can do to make it better. It's poor him!

Reiki Red (love the nickname) quite liked the beard but didn't like the tattoo and attitude. She seems to be OK with Nate but I think Nate wants to get laid.

Sam and James are DELIGHTFUL! I hope they last, though the apnoea mask would probably give.me the ick.

The other two are interesting because she wants to settle down and he's still in kid mode. We'll see.

Love that there's a new couple. Four is too few for any tension.

Hopefully next week will liven up a bit.

Kara deserves better. Intelligent, fun and beautiful. He's not listening to a word she's saying when he's clearly already mentioned promoting his dodgy businesses. Seems quite uncomfortable already

Nafe and Reiki seem like two nice people with zero in common making the best of it, wondering what they're doing there together. Luckily they're going for the 'be nice about it all and manage expectations' approach rather than blame each other if it doesn't work. Bit crap wasting her time if she's 37 and wants kids and he's a young 30 and fancy free. Probably helps that it's a short series.

Steph and Piripi are nice people too but draining each other. He could do with toning down the public pissing and threatening to throw off ledges type joking and she needs to lay off the therapy speak. Two different shells they're hiding behind

Steph and Nate were a far more intuitive match and when we first met the couples, I thought that would be the way the game would go. Nate and Reiki Red are a silly match, of course age matters to women wanting to have kids and young men still playing about a bit, why on earth are the ixperts trying to make out it doesn't matter? Plus she is giving him 'mum' vibes which is all kinds of wrong.

PiriPiri is just not happening for Steph. He has two kids as well and the youngest is two and so that means he was in a relationship til fairly recently and has significant childcare responsibilities. He also said in his initial showreel that he'd hurt a lot of people, that's man code for 'I cheated'. She's a worldly wise woman in her thirties and isn't up for his immaturity, and he's not good-looking enough for her to make it worth a short fling either (though she would shag Nate if she got the chance).

Poor Kara/Cara, Mike seems to have forgotten she's not just the audience for the Mike show. She is like her dad who called it before he'd seen him, it's an entertainment show. She is beautiful but perceptive and doesn't want to be used to promote his supplements, fancy him even asking! She's completely unheard by him and will bail out IMO.

Only started watching this today - at the risk of sounding bitchy it’s nice to see normal non-plastic surgeried women on this show!

It’s not bitchy. Sadly the women with “work” just don’t look right, especially their lips. I saw Vogue on TV recently and I actually thought she’d had some kind of accident to her face. She used to be so pretty. It’s an awful shame.

Madeleine is muted each time she appears, cannot stand the laugh.

I feel a bit sorry for Madeleine, she has a terrible laugh and appears to laugh almost constantly through nerves- she isn't very calm for an alternative practitioner, she makes me nervous and the guy she is with has friend-zoned her, although in fairness, she's friend-zoned him I think!

I think if she'd been paired with Beirdy, that would have cut down on the laughter considerably... and she might have fancied him, and they could have talked about reiki and rebirthing etc. And he's nearer her age.

@FantasticButtocks but Beirdy wouldn't have fancied her, he loves the fact Cara is conventionally tall and pretty and he doesn't listen to a word she says anyway, which is why she's had to stage her own truth intervention to even get a word in edgeways (and even then he was telling her she was wrong).

I think Beard only loves himself. There's no room for a woman really, regardless of who it might be.

Just caught up on last episode. I'm sorry but I feel so physically revolted by that beard! I mean WHY does he think it looks good? He's probably a good looking guy underneath, but it's just SO offputting! Glad Kara said something to him, he did NOT take it well...

He'd be quite handsome with a normal beard, or none. He's not a bad looking chap at all. The gob curtain just acts so unlike a beard by flapping in the breeze and that's quite unexpected and off-putting.

It looks sort of like a blind spot and makes him look quite vain and a bit pathetic as though thinks it looks a certain strong and striking way but hasn't taken into account the flappiness when moving or speaking. Sugar water?

I think there's room for a beautiful blonde yes-woman.

I feel like that too @Appalonia Makes me retch looking at him. I disagree that he would be handsome without it. I think he would be average looking. (But he probably would look better.) It's hard to tell what his face actually looks like though, because of the repugnant neck curtain he has. It looks f*cking RIDICULOUS.

You can tell he loves it and thinks it's the most awesome beard in the world, and he looks amazing with it, by the way he keeps preening, and grooming, and fussing with it. He can love it as much as he likes, but most women are going to be like 🤮
