Ì bet the production team have a clipboard full of questions like Deadnan, and they plan weeks in advance when they're going to drag the body out and skew the voting figures.
🤣

the80sweregreat · 13/11/2024 08:32

Vito is worth voting for !

It's tedious isn't it?

mydogisthebest · 13/11/2024 09:06

If I were taking part in Strictly I would want my dances to be enjoyable for me and the audience. I could not think of anything worse than a sob story about a dead relative to a song that made me cry. I would be embarrassed just to do a bare foot waft thing let alone a sob fest one.

Ebabllisstggoffor · 13/11/2024 09:50

I’ve always watched the Christmas special when everyone has gone. I look forward to it, it’s a bit of relaxation after a hectic day.

What am I going to watch this year? Bloody BBC.

the80sweregreat · 13/11/2024 10:08

Honestly, just fast forwards the bits of the show you don't like to watch.
The other dancers might be worth while!

No, sorry that doesn’t work for me.

I want the fact that I'm not watching this year to count in the viewing figures though. I want the BBC to know that I won't collude in the madness of referring to a man as a woman and I certainly don't want to watch some god awful characature screeching, talking absolute shite and yelling slaaaay every 5 seconds.

the80sweregreat · 13/11/2024 11:15

Fair enough. I hope they get the message , but the bbc probably won't care :(

MrsPeterHarris · 13/11/2024 11:45

I feel the same @Itsalwaysfools but agree with @the80sweregreat that the BBC absolutely won't care.

I've no idea who this person is as I don't watch Drag Race. I wanted to but stopped halfway through the only episode I watched. Not because of being transphobic, not getting the art form or anything like that, but because of the absolutely foul language every five minutes Effing and Geoffing.

No.

If there was a known racist taking part, it wouldn't be right to fast forward the bits where they were dancing. It's outrageous to suggest that people should fast forward the bits where a man who claims to have become a woman is dancing. Just no.

I'm not supporting a show where women's rights are eroded by men pretending to be women, and wanting people to believe they're real women.

They're not women, and they can't appropriate my sex like this.

This is a hill I will die on.

MinaHarker1897 · 13/11/2024 12:41

@TheShellBeach I think Tayce (who I had never heard of until yesterday) uses he/him pronouns when not in drag so he is fully aware he is a guy and it's just an act. From what I have read, anyway. It isn't something I follow tbh.

gingercat02 · 13/11/2024 13:05

Lots of drag artists identify as men (because they are!), it's just dressing up. I don't get the angst.

Because womanhood isn't a costume that can be put on or taken off. We aren't a collection of (often offensive) stereotypes.

dollybird · 13/11/2024 13:24

It's still woman-face and I can't stand it. Imagine on one of the theme weeks one of the couples coming in blacked up. It just wouldn't happen.

Totally agree with all the comments here.

It's not a question of pronouns or saying they're men.

Drag Queens appropriate womanhood by dressing as women, and they always have fake breasts and plunging necklines.

It's unacceptable. They wouldn't be allowed to use blackface. Everyone would be horrified if they did.

This is no different.

Yes. Very offensive stereotypes.

It's really poor. And women don't have to put up with this shit.

gingercat02 · 13/11/2024 15:04

Each to their own, but if I choose to have a short back and sides or a rugby mullet and pop on some fake facial hair and a mans suit or a mankini, should I not be allowed to? Including talking in a fake, deep voice and calling myself a daft name if I want to.
I'm not talking access to women's spaces. That's a whole different thing!

Samcro · 13/11/2024 15:06

Josh Widdicombe though . really like him.

I take your point, but I do think it's interesting that, while the culture seems currently to be flooded with men either full-on identifying as women or appropriating traditionally female-gendered markers like heels, cleavages etc, the equivalent that you describe here is not evident.
