Sorry to hear about Amy. She has had a really hard road.
I thought I would post about the Robin Windsor tribute performance I attended, as a pp asked. It was totally worth the £15 I paid, even though I was in the cheap nosebleed seats.
It was a bit of a mish mash with dance by various pros and amateurs, singing, even a talk by a professor of dance, but also some great Strictly pros. Anton was the co-host and a very good one, intervening when things got too maudlin with comments like "Robin's seven layers of fake tan". Nice to see him without a wig.
Highlights were Pasha dancing with Anya to A Thousand Miles and Mr Bojangles. Lovely to see him as good and fit as ever ( I would be eating all the cheese once I retired).
Vincent Simone doing a fiery Argentinian tango with a young dancer ( not Flavia)
Kai and Angela did a sharp flicky Argentine tango too. Kai is so good in person and very handsome in a nice suit ( visual relief after the last two weeks of horrible costumes). Angela spoke very lovingly about Kai, and apparently they have a plan to get dance into the school curriculum. Kai really should not have been benched this year.; he deserves better.
Nikita and Layton did their Argentine Tango to Tattoo. I really appreciated Nikita appearing after he had been kicked out the night before. They were great and made me wish there were more ringers this year.
Aljaz and Jannette did a beautiful rumba
Deborah Meaden- bless her- was a sport and did her quickstep with Pasha. Obviously not very good after ten years or more, but it didn't matter, of course.
But the ABSOLUTE HIGHLIGHT of the evening was Lauren. She did an American smooth and a waltz with Anton to Moon River, and it was just incredible. She floated around the stage like a feather. I blurted out " Which idiot benched her?" and the lady next to me said "Right?".
I am glad Lauren will get a chance to dance now, though I feel bad for Amy.
