Was just coming on to see if anyone else has heard about a foot injury before this. Didn’t she break her foot last year? She had one of those boot things on if memory serves.
Poor Amy she’s had some rough times lately.
Guess Lauren will step in permanently now?

I think you're right. I remember her with a boot on too. A real shame for her - hope she recovers and can come back next year:

Choux · 04/11/2024 18:56

Yes Lauren is stepping in. Amy did break her foot last year I think. So I guess it was the most obvious thing to say if she needed a cover story. Or maybe it's true.

I wish her all the best. She has had so much health stuff thrown at her recently yet still threw herself back into the series of Strictly. Hopefully she just needs more rest and neither of her illnesses are back.

Amy is out for the rest of the competition with a foot injury. First time a foot injury has been mentioned....

That's a shame. but I liked Lauren better with JB. A foot injury could just be something they are saying to protect her privacy.

And I've just repeated what you were already saying, sorry @Choux

I broke a bone in my foot years ago - fifth metatarsal. A small injury. I was in plaster for 6 weeks but nowadays they just use a boot, I think.

My point is that it can still hurt for days or weeks afterwards if I walk too far or step on uneven ground. If Amy did something minor to her foot I can understand that, as a professional dancer whose feet are vital to her job, she needs to do all she can to let it fully heal again.

It may be a cover story but with truth at the heart of it.

SoreenImBeggingOfYouPleaseDontTakeMyMan · 04/11/2024 19:37

She looked so emotional last week, and it didn't really seem to be a "I'm only out for the week" reaction to the dance, so yeah, maybe she's realised it's too much too soon.
Or maybe the foot injury is telling her shes taken on too much.

Itsalwaysfools · 04/11/2024 19:38

SweetBaklava · 04/11/2024 18:49

I really hope that it's a foot injury and nothing more sinister 🙏🏻 I agree it's a bit strange, but maybe the injury only happened yesterday or today and it's just very bad luck?

It can't have happened yesterday or today. She was out of action on Friday and possibly even before that.

It can't have happened yesterday or today. She was out of action on Friday and possibly even before that.

Presumably she wasn't sitting down for that entire time

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 04/11/2024 20:15

Poor Amy. Her foot might have been
a bit dodgy anyway and after a few days of not dancing it's actually hurting more, or it felt better until she tried to dance?

Add that to she obviously wasn't feeling great on Saturday and perhaps it was just all a bit too much.

TennisWithDeborah · 04/11/2024 20:19

Aggghh sorry about Amy, she’ll be disappointed. But glad it’s her foot and not a recurrence of the dreaded c.

FagsMagsandBags · 04/11/2024 23:12

She'll have been weakened by all that chemo so more likely to be injured and floored by an injury so it's more than possible it is her foot and she can't quickly heal.

Given what I've been through this year I think she came back too quickly although I can understand why. I think that the time off what is an incredibly demanding job will do her the world of good and give her more time to properly heal.

StrongFemaleCharacter · 05/11/2024 00:59

Poor Amy. She was so emotional on Saturday's show, I wondered then if she knew she would not be back. I broke a toe earlier this year and it's still painful and not right, maybe her foot injury was why she had to sit during her routine with JB and maybe she had a panic attack after hence her collapse? It means so much to her to be on the show following her cancer treatment, and maybe she realised at that moment it was too much for her.

StrongFemaleCharacter · 05/11/2024 01:00

Also just to add that JB's dance routine with Lauren was fantastic and well worthy of their score but I couldn't see Amy pulling that off so well - she's more suited to ballroom I think.

Runnerinthenight · 05/11/2024 01:00

I just hope Amy is ok. She comes across as a lovely, genuine woman.

She really does. I hope she is ok too and comes back next year stronger than ever and fully fit.

MarkWithaC · 05/11/2024 08:59

I really feel for Amy. I read that cancer treatment can affect the feeling in your feet, so you might overwork and not realise until you’ve hurt yourself quite badly. Maybe that’s what happened? It might be that the foot she broke previously was still a little fragile and more susceptible to being re-injured anyway.
I wil enjoy watching Lauren, although I mean no disrespect to Amy. She’s a wonderful dancer.

cordelia16 · 05/11/2024 10:33

She and Carlos are meant to be going on tour next year. I hope she's fit for that.

Lentilweaver · 05/11/2024 12:02

Sorry to hear about Amy. She has had a really hard road.

I thought I would post about the Robin Windsor tribute performance I attended, as a pp asked. It was totally worth the £15 I paid, even though I was in the cheap nosebleed seats.

It was a bit of a mish mash with dance by various pros and amateurs, singing, even a talk by a professor of dance, but also some great Strictly pros. Anton was the co-host and a very good one, intervening when things got too maudlin with comments like "Robin's seven layers of fake tan". Nice to see him without a wig.

Highlights were Pasha dancing with Anya to A Thousand Miles and Mr Bojangles. Lovely to see him as good and fit as ever ( I would be eating all the cheese once I retired).
Vincent Simone doing a fiery Argentinian tango with a young dancer ( not Flavia)
Kai and Angela did a sharp flicky Argentine tango too. Kai is so good in person and very handsome in a nice suit ( visual relief after the last two weeks of horrible costumes). Angela spoke very lovingly about Kai, and apparently they have a plan to get dance into the school curriculum. Kai really should not have been benched this year.; he deserves better.
Nikita and Layton did their Argentine Tango to Tattoo. I really appreciated Nikita appearing after he had been kicked out the night before. They were great and made me wish there were more ringers this year.
Aljaz and Jannette did a beautiful rumba
Deborah Meaden- bless her- was a sport and did her quickstep with Pasha. Obviously not very good after ten years or more, but it didn't matter, of course.

But the ABSOLUTE HIGHLIGHT of the evening was Lauren. She did an American smooth and a waltz with Anton to Moon River, and it was just incredible. She floated around the stage like a feather. I blurted out " Which idiot benched her?" and the lady next to me said "Right?".

I am glad Lauren will get a chance to dance now, though I feel bad for Amy.

Choux · 04/11/2024 18:36

Unless she really DOES have a foot injury. But if so why wasn't that mentioned before?

For an ambulance to be called it suggests more of a collapse.

But I'd guess you could easily injure an already damaged foot in the process of fainting or whatever else happened.

Poor Amy but I think it's fairer to JB this way and she needs to rest.

Butteredtoast55 · 05/11/2024 14:01

Thank you @Lentilweaver that sounds like a great evening! Lovely Robin, he always seemed so kind.
I did say to Mr Toast at the launch show that Lauren might be being held in reserve to cover for Amy, but I wish they'd have decided to have Lauren with a partner and Amy do some of the solo dances or have a Christmas partner. She hasn't looked quite right all season.
But then again, we love Lauren (she's Mr Toast's partner of choice 😁)
I would love to see them pairing Karen and Lauren with really good partners next year and I think Gorka deserves a corker soon too. Karen should absolutely have been the lead dancer in the Beyonce tribute instead of Johannes but don't get me started on that!

Karen's been on the show for ages and deserves someone really good, and, yes, definitely the lead in some of the pro dances too.

I gave really not enjoyed some of the music choices or costumes this year. The music has, to on occasion, really spoilt the dance.
